Blest Sunday: Having Fun and Saying Thanks

(Dezi’s crouched down behind the chair, her tail twitching and flicking from side to side and eyes wide, waiting for Raena to saunter past)

(Raena looks about from the dining room for Dezi. She chortles her frustration.)

Raena standing up at the back of the chair

Where’s sissy mommy?

Girls. It’s time for Blest Sunday. Are ya’ll gonna write a post today or play tag?

(Raena comes charging toward the chair and mommy chirping the whole way

Dezi lays in mommys lap for some loving

(With one last ripple of the skin and tail flick, Dezi jumps out at Raena. Both girls briefly hiss and then run to mommy) Of course we’re gonna write a Blest sunday posty, mommy. We wouldn’t miss it.

I’s wanna write the posty, sissy.

You wrote the last posty Raena. It’s mes turn. ‘Member, it’s mes name on the blog.

Furst up today we wanted to say a meowsy big Fank you to those who have sent money fur mommys teeth purroblems. Most donations have come through the fundraiser, but we did get a couple directly to our paypal at lexi.dezi@yahoo.com. Fank you awnty Petal, awnty Carol, awnty Cindy, awnty Julie, and those Anonymous awnties and uncles that donated. We currently have $570.00 towards what we need. Even ifin mommy had the work done in stages, we still don’t have enuff to cover the cost of the removal of those teeth that are causing all the pain and infection. That cost is $1320.00. But cuz that would leave mommy with only 2 teeth on the bottom, that appointment also included partials so she would be able to eat, speak right and so on, fur a total cost of $3598.00. You can read the posty where mommy talked ‘bout what’s needed here. Some of you have asked ‘bout antibiotics and such. Cuz mommy didn’t make a follow up appointment to have the work done, the dentist didn’t give mommy anything, that’s a common purractice here. Mommys regular doctor told her to see a dentist, again, common purractice here. So we’re doin’ what we can and takin’ it one day at a time. We feel very blest to have each other and all of you.

Dezi and Raena look outside from their perches near the door.

We are so fankful fur all your purrs, purrayers, luv and support. We feel so blest to have so many amazin’ furiends.

Hey sissy, don’t furget ‘bout mines new harness. Fanky fank you awnty Vonda fur sendin’ the green papers to get me a new harness. Cuz mommy was a little under the weather last week, she hasn’t had a chance yet to measure me and get it ordered, but she says it’s on the agenda this week. And, we met a really nice purrson who came by to apply fur the job to help mommy ‘round the house.

Yes, Raena, we did, but we’re not gonna say anythin’ more till the word comes back and this purrson actually starts workin’ fur us. No, we’re not superstitious, but we’ve been here too many times and it’s not worked out, so we’re just bein’ cautious.

(Raena suddenly jumps up and zooms through the house and jumps up on Dezi) Cautious. Hmmpht

 Dezi and Raena eat

(Dezi hisses and raises her paw as if she was going to whack Raena) Yes, Raena, cautious. You’re too young to understand some things, so just take it from me and keep quiet. And quit jumpin’ on me. That’s not very nice ya’ know. We better rap it up and finish brekky.

 Raena sleeping on mommys lap

The sun’s shinin’ and it’s kinda warm outside. Reckon’ mommy will take us fur a stroll?

Raena, the wind’s blowin’ so hard out there we’d get blown off the sidewalk. In other words, purrobably not. Fankfully we have a home to stay in so we don’t have to get blown all over. And we’re blest to have a mommy who luvs us, and all our amazin’ furiends. Purrlease ‘member to take a minute today and everyday to give thanks fur the many blessings in your life. We don’t really do selfies so much, but we’re joinin’ the Kitties Blue fur Sunday Selfies. Now, me has a lesson to teach to Raena ‘bout jumpin’ on unsuspectin’ kitty girls.

Till the next time………………………………………Be Blest!!!

Blest Sunday: We are Always Blest

Well, here we are and it’s time fur another Blest Sunday. And let me just say, we are Blest!!! And of course, we’re gonna tell ya’ why. After our last posty, somepawdy wrote us an email that said, “Bet ya’ won’t be posting a Blest Sunday this week.” They said a few other things too, but doubtin’ our blessings was the one that stuck out to mommy. We learned shortly after joinin’ social media that we had opened ourselves up fur peeps to think they could say anything they wanted to us. Most peeps are really nice and suppurrtive, but there’s always that somepawdy, right?.

Dezi sits on the brown cat tree in her signature pose

Anyways, it’s true our new year got off to a rocky start and things haven’t been goin’ great, but look’it all the pawsum things we do have. Raena and me have the most luvving mommy in the universe, and she has us. We have all of you, our furiends and family. We have a roof over our heads, a soft warm place to sleep, food in our bellies, toys and scratchers and cat trees oh my. We are so blest, we’re overflowin’.

Raena with the cheese block from LouLou

Don’t furget the cheese sissy. Ya’ know, that big round of cheddar mommy got from our dear sweet and bootyful furiend LouLou?. Ifin mommy could’a danced she woulda. When mommy opened the box her eyes got as big as saucers and she made up a song ‘bout cheese. “Cheese, cheese, gotta love cheese. Protein, dairy, yummy nummy cheese.”

 Cheese block

Yeah Raena, mommy does luv her some cheese. Fank you so much LouLou, and to your mommy and daddy too. We also wanna fank everypawdy fur your ideas and suggestions ‘bout mommys dental issues. As we posted a couple of weeks ago, there are no community programs to help mommy, especially now that we know fur certain she needs surgical removal of several teeth. And mommy had already checked with the University, which by the way is too far to get too, and doesn’t qualify there either.

Mommy had exhausted all options befur lookin’ fur a regular dentist. And after she learned exactly what needed to be done, she called around to check purrices fur the work. She didn’t look into the cleaning, but we did get several emails and comments from peeps who understood what mommy didn’t, and the cleaning purrice is pretty much on point as well. But the cleaning isn’t urgent, so mommy isn’t really concerned with it at the moment. Getting rid of the purroblems that are causing her much pain and infection are her focus. And to that end, we did start the fundraiser. Because of the fees credit card companies charge, we have also listed our paypal account fur direct donations, so that we would get the entire amount peeps give.

 Raena in her yogi pose

Don’t furget to give everypawdy our paypal email sissy. It’s lexi.dezi@yahoo.com that’s lexi (dot) dezi (at) yahoo (dot) com. And the fundraiser can be found by clicking here. Oh, and don’t furget to stop by tomorrow to read, the rest of the story from mines Wednesday trip with mommy.

Well Raena, looks like you just gave everypawdy the infurmation. We do wanna fank all those who have donated so far. Mommy got busy last night visitin’ with one of our awnties, and settin’ up appointments fur interviews, so we’ll plan a purropurr fank you fur next week. The DHS nurse who was here Furiday, said that it was clear mommy needs help, but cuz she can’t find anypawdy to actually work, she may lose her benefits. But she told mommy to keep tryin’ till the final decision was made. So we have several innerviews scheduled fur Monday. Purrlease send purrayers that we find someone and the State lets mommy keep her benefits. They take this and next they’ll be wantin’ her $10.00 in food stamps. Hmmmpht

Dezi sits on brown cat tree with head down in prayer

Fank you all fur bein’ our furiends. In spite of it all, we are so blest to have so much. And don’t furget to take a moment today and everyday to give thanks fur the blessings in your life. And we’re joinin’ the Kitties Blue fur Sunday Selfies.

Till the next time…………………………………….Be Blest!!!

Blest Sunday: Things Are Lookin’ Up

MeeeeOwwww What a week we’ve had. And thru it all, of course we’ve felt very blest. You guessed it, it’s time fur another Blest Sunday. The Mew Year was off to a rocky start here. The wheelchair batteries were dead and mommy had been crawlin’ ‘round fur months. And of course that meant no drivin’ lessons fur the quickly growing Raena. Mommys teeth have gotten worse and are really causin’ her a lot of pain. And her bad falls are gettin’ worse and more frequent. And mommy got a call from the DHS that said she might not qualify fur the program that allows her to hire someone to help ‘round the house and do the things we can’t, all because we haven’t been able to find somepawdy to work. Mommy says that was the purrverbial straw and lost it. Me knows you’re askin’ yourselves how we feel blest amidst all this, so let me tell ya’.

Dezi lays in mommys lap for loving

As of late Furiday, we have new batteries in the wheelchair. Yep, the repairman came out to look things over. Mommy insisted he work in the house so she could verify that the batteries were new. That meant he wasn’t purrpared, cuz he only had used batteries in his van. So he had to drive back to the City to get new batteries and come back out. He also discovered that our charger isn’t workin’ purropurrly, so we need a new charger as well. He furgot the charger when he went to pick up the batteries, so they’re s’posed to drop ship one to mommy this week. He also told mommy that it’s ‘bout time fur a new chair. The one we have is 6 years old and showin’ some wear. But fur now, at least mommy’s not crawlin’ ‘round anymore and she can start trainin’ Raena to drive. Me’s gonna have to find some great look out spots so me can watch events unfolding from a safe distance. MOL

Raena lays in mommys lap and bathes

Mommy was able to find a dentist that will look at her teeths fur free on Wednesday and give her an estimate of how much it would cost to get rid of her rotten teethes and get dentures. We won’t be able to afford to get the work done, but at least mommy will know the cost. She says sometimes the pain is easier to bear when you know you can’t afford to change it.

And then on Furiday, the DHS nurse is comin’ out to see ifin mommy can still qualify to get a helper. We purray the nurse says she does and that the Mew Year will bring us someone who wants to work so mommy can get that help. We so wish we could do everything mommy needs, but alas, we are only cats with no opposable thumbs. Raena might be able to reach the sink when she stands on her back paws, but she can’t wash the dishes or purrpare our meals. And unless and until we get one of those robot vacuums, there’s no way we can maneuver the carpet monster.

 Dezi vacuums

While none of us have any control over mommys’ falls, at least with the wheelchair workin’ again,  there’ll be less hours on her big ole clumsy feet. Ya’ know what else? Durin’ the stresses of last week, a lot of you reached out and let mommy and us know you cared ‘bout us and were sendin’ purrs and purrayers. We are so blest to have you all in our lives. And most purrtantly, we have each other to lean on and our belief in God to get us thru it all.

 Raena lays in mommys lap

Hopefully things are takin’ a turn fur the better. And we were happy that a lot of you are innerested in the purrgression of mommys’ Raenas’ new AeroGarden. Raena’s keepin’ a close eye on it. And when me says close…she finally managed to get one of the caps off and hide it from mommy. and then she actually pulled one of those pods out. We don’t know how long it was out of the water, or how well it will sprout without it’s cap, but mommy replaced it in it’s slot and we’ll see.

 AeroGarden pods close up

AeroGarden pods close up

Somepawdy mentioned that their kitty dug up the dirt so they couldn’t grow plants or a garden. So we thought we’d try to ‘splain the Aero Garden a bit better. There’s no dirt to dig. All the plants are grown in water, and there’s a cover across the top that keeps kitty out, as you can see by the above fotos. Unless you have a Raena that is. And then you have to really push those pods into place. Me should note that since replacin’ the pod Raena stole and pushin’ it into place better, she’s been unsuccessful at further attempts to dislodge it. And trust me, she’s tried. MOL  We were also asked what pods we were growing. Since we don’t yet have any lettuce seeds/pods, mommy planted the herbs that came with it: dill, parsley, mint, 2 different kinds of basil and cilantro. We’ll keep you updated as things happen. Mommy’s really excited to watch it all and can’t wait till she has salad greens to grow. So fank you again, she really luvs her Christmas purresent.

Dezi pats Raena on the head

Fank you all fur bein’ our furiends. Our lives are so much better with all of you in it. We are all truly blest. ‘Member to take a minute today and every day to give thanks fur the blessings in your life. We have a busy week ahead with the doctor Monday, dentist Wednesday and the DHS nurse on Furiday, so we’ll be ‘round to visit when we can. We’re also joinin’ the Kitties Blue fur Sunday Selfies.

Blest Sunday: Bittersweet Memories

Happy Mew Year!!!!!

Dezi in a 2017 calendar

Welcome to our very furst Blest Sunday of da Mew Year. Can you believe it? Another year has come and gone. Saying goodbye to 2016 was very bittersweet fur us. Last year brought us so much sadness and yet, so much joy. We all meowed and chatted ‘bout just what kind of posty we would make today. We’ve made some mew furiends this year and lost some old ones, so in da end we decided a look back was the way to go. Fasten your seatbelts and let’s zoom back to January of 2016. (This posty looks longer than it is, cuz we added lots of fotos fur your viewing purrleasure.)

Dezi and Lexi in their harness dresses laying together

Y This ain’t so bad after all.

What a fine time; sis Lexi was still with us. We don’t make resolutions in our house, so instead, me gave you all a challenge. With so many anipals awaitin’ their furevers, me challenged you to all share and do whatever you could to help more of those anipals than ever befur. We partnered with a shelter here in Oklahoma and shared adoptable kitties every week till the shelter was empty. That’s right, they actually went fur several weeks without any kitties needin’ furever homes. January wasn’t all work tho’. Mommy and me made mes furst pick up truck fur the annual Cat Scout Derby. Me didn’t win, but we did have a good time. Mommy fur sure isn’t crafty. MOL  And we never could have known when we wrote ‘bout our pets grief that we would be facing that ourselves very soon.

I luvz minez mommy even more today

In February, sis Lexi was havin’ more bad days than good, and we started getting all sentimental and mushy. We celebrated our 2nd blogoversay; and just in time fur Valentine’s Day, sis Lexi wrote a thank you post to mommy. Me wrote mes thank you a couple of days later. And we got all educational and wrote a post telling you all about spay/neuter and vaccinations.

 Lexi:Always and Furever

When March came blowing in, sis Lexi took a turn fur the worse. She couldn’t balance very well, and wouldn’t eat much. Ever the Service Cat tho’, she continued to do what she could to help mommy; giving her massages meowning and night. And on Wednesday March 9th, 2016, sis Lexi gave up the fight and went to heaven. Mommy was a mess; me was a mess, and we wrote another post on pets grieving. We ended the month explaining why mommy needs Service Cats.

Isn’t this just beautiful? Lexis’ furever resting spot that will sit on mommys desk.

April found us trying to figure out how to go on without sis Lexi. We began our search fur a new Service Cat to help me help mommy. Little did we know, that she hadn’t yet been born.

May came rushing in, and found us posting home made treat recipes. You can check out a couple of those treats here and here. And furinally on mommys’ birthday, May 27th, she got a lead on a new Service Cat in training. She had been born April 21, 2016. Sis Lexis’ birthday would have been the 29th.

Baby Raena her first day riding home with mommy

So we waited with baited breath fur June to roll round. The day finally rolled around and mommy went to pick up mes new sisfur and helper. She was a little puff ball of pi_ _ and vinegar. A real spitfire, mommy called her. Of all the names mommy threw out, the little spitfire answered to Raena. Mommy had done a little research and thought that was purrfect. It’s a shortened form of Rahannan and means “New Beginnings”. We purrticipated in our furst Blogville Pawlympics, and turned Miserable Mondays into Service Cat Mondays. We plan to continue posting those Service Cat posts this year, so ifin you have any questions about Service cats or training cats, just let us know.

 Raena eating bonito flakes

July came bounding in just like Raena. We continued our Service Cat Monday posts and Raena got to make her furst post all by herself. And she learned all about treats, catnip and giving reviews. She learned how to be a blogging cat.

Raena peaking out of a chewy box

August sped in and saw Raena saying goodbye to monthly VET visits where she got poked and prodded. Raena continued to grow and explore her new home. We continued with Service Cat Monday and also wrote about kitties teething. We ended out the month with a day of remembrance written by mommy for sis Lexi.

Dezi enjoying a silvervine stick

September 2016: Raena and me both got our furst Silvervine sticks. OMC  Those things are outta this world. And we continued Service Cat Mondays, offering training tips for all kitties.

Mommy A waking Raena after her spay surgery

October was the month Raena had her “spa day”. We both got new harnesses and Raena learned to walk on a leash and go out in the stroller. We ended the month telling you about Shad, mommys’ furst Service Cat.

Me couldn’t wait fur November to get here, it’s mes Birthday and Gotchaday month. What a time. Me got some great purresents and we finally had pizza. Raena got her furst nip nanner fur mes birthday. We also posted leash training tips in a Service Cat Monday post. And we were so blest to have received boxes fur mommy that included cleaning supplies fur all kinds of cleanin’, food and turkeys fur our holiday dinners.

Finally, December blew in and so did Christmas. OMC  Were we ever blest!!! We got purresents, food and mommy food too. We received a couple more gifts over the weekend, that we still haven’t got fotos loaded fur. You know what else? All of you, our readers and furiends have been here fur us. We luv you all so very much!!!

We’ve shared lots of sorrows this year, and also lots of joy. Some of us lost beloved family members, both furred and non furred, and some of us got new family members. The one thing we all have is the luv we share. 2016 was a roller coaster ride fur sure, but we wouldn’t have made it thru without all of you. Thank you all fur being our furiends, and sharing your lives, luv and support with us. The year was full of so much more, we just couldn’t list it all. We are indeed, Blest. ‘Member to take a minute today and everyday to give thanks fur the blessings in your lives. We’re joinin’ the Kitties Blue fur Sunday Selfies, and we hope you enjoyed our little slideshow with more Christmas fun. We can’t wait to see what adventures we’ll all be up to this year.
