Chatting Cats: Off To Summer Camp Cat Scouts Style

Hey, is anypawdy out there? It’s me, RaenaBelle. And, it’s furinally Furiday!!! Woo MeOWWWwww You all know we drink outta fountains, right? Well, we have one on the bathroom vanity. It’s been there since I’s came here. I’s ‘member when I’s was a teeny little girly and would look way up there and watch sis Dezi lappin’ up that furesh water. It looked so tasty. I’s couldn’t wait fur the day when I’s was furinally big enuff to get up there and have a drinky fur mineself. Well, I’s didn’t have to wait too long. As ya’ll know, I’s growin’ like a weed. Least, that’s what mommy says. Anyways, I’s been enjoyin’ that fountain fur quite some time now. But, last night I jumped up there to get a drink and found one of mommy’s coffee cups sittin’ right beside it. Have ya’ heard that sayin’ ‘bout curiosity and the cat? Well, I’s don’t believe it’ll kill me, but I’s sure am a curious girly. So, I’s had to check out why mommy would be leavin’ her coffee in the bathroom. After all, she never drinks in that room, ‘specially not coffee. I’s looked down into that cup and…OMC  that wasn’t mommy’s coffee, there was teethies in that there cup.

Mommy’s teethies. Did you see ‘em? They were just floatin’ there in that coffee cup.

 

          Yeah, me saw ‘em. Mommy says that’s the way she’s s’posed to brush her teethies these days. But me doesn’t think you’re s’posed to be drinkin’ the water in there with ‘em, much less, cleanin’ your paws. 

 

Why sissy? I’s bet those teethies would be great fun to play with.

          Yeah, you try fishin’ ‘em outta the cup and playin’ with ‘em and see what mommy says. Me’s bettin’ all your treats fur a week that she won’t be amused.

Oh sissy, you know mommy can’t be mad at us. ‘Specially not cute li’l ol’ me. Anyways, don’t you have a cat scouts trip to pack fur?

          Me sure does, Raena. Me’s so x’cited. We’re havin’ Cat Scouts summer camp fur the next week. Yep, a whole week. We’re gonna be campin’ and hikin’ and climbin’ huge mountains. It’s gonna be a great adventure. 

 

That’s not fair sissy. Just not fair at all. I’s wanna be a cat scout too.

Me sure hopes me didn’t furget anythin’.

 

          It’s fair Raena, me’s been a cat scout fur years now. Maybe mommy will let you join someday, but right now, cat scouts belongs to me. It’s the only-est thing me doesn’t have to share. Least not all the time. You’ve gotten to go to some of the pawrties we have, but this adventure is really ‘purrtant. We usually have quests or jamborees to show off what we’ve learned in scouts; but, it’s been a while, so this adventure is countin’ as 2 quests. We’ll be competin’ against the other patrols to see who’s the better scouts.

That doesn’t seem very scout like sissy?. Mommy says it’s not to see who’s better, but mostly ‘bout who can answer the questions faster.

          Yeah, it’s ‘bout that too Raena. It doesn’t really matter who wins, cuz we’re all great scouts. It’s just that the winners usually get a trophy and braggin’ rights. Me’s patrol, Wally’s Warriors, have won a lot of times. So, are ya’ gonna wish me luck?

 

Sure sissy. I’s do hope you do well and bring home the trophy. I’s never seen a trophy befur. I’s’ll sure miss ya’ while you’re gone tho’. 

 

          Aaaaaaaaw Fanks Raena. Me will miss you too…sort of. It’s gonna be up to you to take care of mommy while me’s away. Can ya’ do that?

Of course I’s will take care of mommy sissy. Maybe she’ll take me fur a few strolls and give me some extra treats and cuddles. Yeah, I’s gonna luvs spendin’ time with mommy. I’s’ll have her all to mineself fur a whole week.

          Yeah, don’t get too comfy Raena. Me’s comin’ back home. Ya’ know, we have lots of new members joinin’ fur summer camp. Ifin any of ya’ out there have been thinkin’ ‘bout joinin’ Cat Scouts, ya’ oughtta do it. We have great fun. We’re a small community, but we all look out fur each other. Like me said, there’s lots of pawrties and fun to be had, but, there’s also the camaraderie and valuable lessons we learn. While most of Cat Scouts is of course virtual, we also make an impact in the real world. Lots of scouts send birthday cards each month to some peeps who have to live in community homes like nursing homes and such, and we help each other and our families when we can. Well, guess me needs to go pack.

 

You have fun sissy. Mommy and me will be fine. We’ll miss ya’, but we’re very purroud of you too. I’s’ll help ya’ pack. Do you have enuff batteries?

Hey, is anypawdy out there? It’s me, RaenaBelle. I’s sure wanna fanky fank everypawdy fur your well wishes and patience. This teethy sitch sure got mommy’s goat. I’s didn’t even know we had a goat, but mommy said it was got and she was shot. Not shot, like with a gun or anythin’, but just like, down fur the count.

Well Kittens!!! Humans sure do have a lot of funny sayings sissy. I’s don’t know why they can’t just say what they mean. I’s was really lookin’ furward to meetin’ our goat.

          Me wishes humans didn’t have so many colorful words too Raena, but me fur sure ain’t sharin’ anythin’ else with anypawdy else!!! Fur sure, me ain’t sharin’ with no goat!!! Me hears they eat everythin’. And we got new treats to try. It’s bad enuff me has to share everythin’ with you, me’s not sharin’ with mommy’s goat, and that’s that.

Anyways, cuz mommy wants to give us the very bestest she can with the limited funds she has, she offen checks the doggy aisle when buyin’ us treats. Ya’ heard me right, the doggy aisle. See, when it comes to propurr freeze dried treats, meanin’ single ingredient, they’re the same whether they’re in a teeny package fur kitties or a huge bag fur woofies. The only difference is size and purrice. So, even tho’ the Purina Beyond all natural grain-free white meat chicken Cutlets have a doggy on the bag and be listed in the doggy treat section, they’re purrfectly safe and edible fur all us felines. Y, the only ingredients are Chicken, glycerin and salt.

Now, as ya’ know, us kitties do have smaller mouths than our woofie counterparts, so there’s fur sure gonna be some breakin’ needed befur we kitties can begin eatin’ said treats, but mommy says that’s not a purroblem. The white meat chicken Cutlets were easy enuff to break apart. That is, after we each had a go at the whole cutlet. Ya’ know, they smelled so delishus, we couldn’t help ourselves. I’s quite enjoyed a few tasty bites of mine’s cutlet. But fur some reason, I’s won’t take another bite. How ‘bout you sissy?

          Fanks Raena. Me kind’a liked the idea of the whole cutlet to0, but it was a bit chewier than me likes. The normal freeze dried chicken me likes kind’a melts in your mouth. Ya’ know, it’s dry and then when me’s spit mingles with it, and it turns into a real piece of meat. This was chewy and kind’a oily.

Yeah, mommy said they felt a bit greasy, and thinks I’s might have got a taste of said grease and now I’s want nuffin’ to do with ‘em either. They’re also not the typical freeze dried chicken breast we normally purrfur. These are more like a large strip of jerky. But, sissy and me had a nice long meow and decided that fur ingredients, cost and size, the Purina Beyond Cutlets deserve a paw up from both of us. Mommy agreed and lends her thumb up.

Chatting Cats: What Fun Are Rules

Hey Raena, wha’cha’ doin’?

          I’s checkin’ out this funny machine. Didn’t you hear it start up all by itself? It’s been doin’ that a lot lately. It starts makin’ these funny noises and then it suddenly spits out paper at ya’. Why do ya’ reckon it does that sissy? 

 

Me’s not sure Raena, but it always does it after mommy says “The printer’s fixin’ to kick on girls.”  Me thinks she means that strange machine, cuz after it spits out paper, she usually goes in there and gets it.

          I’s wonder what that paper says, sissy? You know, mommy gets all beside herself when I’s try to stop it. Y, The other day, that silly machine popped open and scared me. It caught mine’s tail and wouldn’t let go.

As me recalls Raena, mommy had been tellin’ you to get down and leave it alone. Me may not unnerstand why mommy has the rules she does, but they usually purrtect us in some way. Ifin you had left it alone like mommy said to, me bets your tail wouldn’t have gotten caught. 

 

          But sissy, what fun would that be? Mommy has soooooo many rules. “Don’t get up there. Don’t touch that. Leave it alone, it’s mine.” Kittens!!!  It’s like she doesn’t want us to have any fun…Ever!!!

Purrleeeeeease Raena (Dezi meows with sarcasm). We’ve got lots of toys to play with. Truth is, we don’t have that many rules. Mommy says the Don’ts are there to purrtect us and keep us safe. (Suddenly, there’s a loud noise outside and Dezi looks out the door from atop the cat tree while Raena looks out the door from her small perch. Dezi meows loudly as she takes off running towards the bedroom) Run fur your life…the lawn crew’s here!!!

Fur some reason, da food always tastes better outta sissy’s plate.

 

 

          (Raena jumps down from her perch and looks around for a minute. As she saunters over to Dezi’s breakfast plate she meows) What’s all the x’citement fur sissy, they’re here every week? You’d think you’d be used to it by now. Oh well, more noms fur me. MOL  (Raena meows loudly towards the bedroom) Hey sissy, why don’t we ask mommy fur some treats. We still have a bag left. 

 

(Dezi lays at the bedroom door and meows) Yeah, sure Raena. Treats sound great. You go ahead and ask, and me will be waitin’.

          Why am I’s the only one that ever has to ask fur treats sissy?

 

Why would me go to all that trouble of givin’ mommy “the look” and dancin’ ‘round, when me can just hang out and wait. Ifin me waits long enuff, you’ll do all the work fur me. MOL

Uh, Oh, Uh, Did me say that out loud? Uh, me just means you do a much better job at askin’ fur treats…Yeah, that’s it. You know, who could say no to your bootyful face? 

 

          Aaaaaaaaaaaaaw Fanky fank you sissy. That’s so sweet of you. 

 

Whew (Dezi wipes her paw across her brow and meows) She bought it. That was a close one. Guess me better go with her this time. She might be askin’ fur and gettin’ treats that me’s not gettin’ sometimes. Hey Raena, are you goin’ with mommy tomorrow?

         Well, I’s sure hope so. Least that’s the plan fur now. I’s hope all our furiends will keep mommy and us in their purrayers tomorrow. Mommy’s believin’ the ‘pointment’s gonna go well, and that everythin’ is gonna be okay. It’s been a long time comin’, but we can furinally see an end to it all.

Me knows mommy’s gonna feel a lot better when it’s all over. Maybe not at furst, cuz there’s gonna be more of that no nose blowin’ and Malt O Meal cereal fur a while. But that won’t last furever, and then she won’t have to worry ‘bout any more teethie infections. And, we’ll be havin’ that play date pawrty all weekend. Let’s go make sure all the toys you haven’t broken have good batteries.

Chatting Cats: Girls Love Jewelry

Hey, is anypawdy out there? It’s me, RaenaBelle. I’s wanna tell everypawdy ‘bout our new jewelry. Mommy says all girly’s wear jewelry, and now sis Dezi and me do too.

          Me isn’t so sure our jewelry is somethin’ to brag ‘bout, Raena.

Oh sissy, don’t be a stick in the mud. I’s luvs our new jewelry. I’s can’t wait till mommy makes us a necklace like the ones our bootyful furiend Amarula, from Hairballs and Hissyfits, wears. That’s what started all of this ya’ know.

 

 

 

 

          No, Raena, this all started years ago. Mommy luvved kitty necklaces (collars). But, that all changed when she put one on me when me was just a little girly. Mommy had bought me a purretty blue necklace to match me’s eyes. But, when she put it on me, me started lickin’ and bitin’ and rollin’ ‘round till me almost choked meself to death. Fankfully, mommy was watchin’ me really closely, and saw it immediately and took me’s new necklace off. After that, she removed sis Lexi’s necklace too, and no more jewelry fur us kitties. Well, x’cept fur our walkin’ jackets.

OMC  Sissy!!! Why wouldn’t you wanna wear that purretty necklace mommy bought you?

 

          Me don’t know Raena, me was a young, active, furee spirited girly back then. Me purrobably thought the necklace would hold me down or somethin’. And besides, every time me would clean me’s neck floof, the necklace would’a ended up in me’s mouth. Ya’ know, kinda like what happened to you at furst?.

Mommy says we’re a little OCD when it comes to keepin’ our furs cleaned. So she had to make our necklaces more like chokers than chains and pendants. Anyways, after seein’ Amarula’s cool necklace, mommy decided to give jewelry a try fur us again. Mommy figgered you had outgrown some of that obsessive behavior, and I’s don’t seem to be bothered by such things. So, mommy ordered us a package of those calmin’ collar necklaces after seein’ them in action at 15 and meowin’. Not only did awnty Ellen say they seemed to help with the calmin’ effect, they were also our favorite color, purrple. The no frill nature of them, made mommy think we might do okay in them.

          They may be no frill Raena, but they sure do smell. Me just hates anythin’ that competes with me’s purrfume. (Dezi meows with sass the way she‘s heard mommy A speak)

Yeah sissy, they do smell, but we didn’t seem to be bothered by them once mommy got them on us. Mommy left them on us fur ‘bout a month so we could get used to havin’ somethin’ ‘round our neck all the time. Then, one day, mommy took it off and put on this black necklace she got fur a dollar. But, IT HAD BELLS!!! I’s jingled every time I’s moved. I’s didn’t like that one bit. Jingle, jingle, I’s went. Fanky fankfully, after watchin’ me try to remove those noisy bells fur 30 minutes, mommy removed them. Kittens!!!  Who wants to jingle all the time?. Hmmpht

That’s not funny sissy. I’s not a toy!!! Anyways, I’s kinda like mine’s new necklace. We found out those cool Amarula necklaces (collars) are just covers. Mommy can’t afford those, so she purromissed to try and make us our very own after we get all this lease re-certification stuffs behind us. I’s can’t wait to see what mommy comes up with. We all know mommy isn’t very crafty, so this is gonna be a bit of a challenge fur her. MOL

          Yeah Raena, mommy isn’t very crafty, but she does purretty good with the sewin’ machine. Besides, those covers are just a long piece of fabric with a seam. Surely mommy can figger that out. MOL  Altho’ me’s with the boys, Frodo and Zulu, me doesn’t look furward to wearin’ a big ruffle under me’s chin.

Well, I’s can’t wait sissy. Without somethin’ on our necklaces, ya’ can’t see ‘em fur all our furs. I’s wonder how many of our furiends wear necklaces?

 

          And, me wonders ifin they took to ‘em right away like you, or hated ‘em from the get, like me?.

 

Anyways, we were up till 5 a.m. this meownin’, so I’s ‘bout ready fur our meownin’ nap, are you? (Raena looks over and sees Dezi already sleeping. She whispers a small meow) Guess I’s will take that nap now too.
