Blest Sunday: Pet Memorial Day: Mixed Blessings

MeOw-llo Dear Furiends. It’s that time again, Blest Sunday. We so luv counting our Blessings. Today we find ourselves in a bit of a quandary. Maybe not so much a quandary, but fur sure feelin’ a bit confused as we ponder those mixed Blessings in our lives. Us kitties have feelings too ya’ know. We just don’t always know how to express ’em.

What are you meowin’ ‘bout sissy? I’s not confused.

Me’s meowin’ ‘bout mommy and me Raena. You know, mommy’s been feelin’ a little down lately and reminiscing over the past.

Yeah, she’s been showin’ me fotos of kitties past all week. But I’s thought she was happy to have known them. The stories she told were all good ones.

That’s why we call ‘em mixed Blessings Raena. Me only knew me’s sis Lexi, but mommy had lots of fotos goin’ back to her childhood that she unboxed this week. Lots of stories and memories and Blessings. But also lots of sads when they went away.

I’s don’t like meowin’ ‘bout the sads sissy.

Nopawdy likes the sads Raena, but they’re pawrt of life, just like the happys. Since today is Pet Memorial Day, me thought it would be nice to pay tribute to the Blessings sis Lexi gave mommy, me and all our furiends.

I’s luvs stories ‘bout her sissy.

Me too Raena. Me only got to know her fur six years. But she lived lots longer than that. Now she was a true Alpha Queen. She didn’t take nuffin’ from nopawdy. But she was also full of luv. She gave her all to everythin’ she did. Y, me ‘members me’s furst day home. Sis Lexi came strollin’ into the kitchen at dinnertime and when she saw me, she took her big ole paw and splatted me but good. She flattened me out on the floor so fast me’s head spun. Me jumpd right up and turned to the side and fluffed up. Ya’ know, me was tryin’ to look as big as pawssible. At the time, she looked like a giant to me. Well, as soon as me floofed up, She took off runnin’ down the hall screamin’ like a banshee. You would’ve never known it that day, but we ended up the bestest of furiends.

Kind’a like you and me, huh sissy?

Uh, Yeah, sure Raena, whatever you think. Anyways, Lexi took such good care of mommy and me. She taught me everythin’ she knew ‘bout bein’ a good service cat fur mommy. We miss her so much. Y, She’s the reason we have our furiends and this blog. Mommy was able to open up thru her. We wish she had never left us. And that brings me to the mixed pawrt of the Blessing of her life.

          Well, what is it sissy?

It’s you Raena. As much as mommy and me luvved sis Lexi and wanted her to be with us furever, ifin she hadn’t gone to heaven, we would’ve never met you. And altho’ some days me wishes we hadn’t, truth is, you’re not so bad.

Aaaaaaaw Sissy, I’s luvs you too. I’s think we should give mommy lots of extra luvvin’ and help make lots of new memories. I’s’ll go link us up with the Kitties Blue fur Sunday Selfies, and then we can ask mommy to play with us.

Sure Raena, sounds great. As we do each week, we’d like to remind you all to take a minute today and every day to Give Thanks fur the Blessings in your lives. Thank you fur bein’ Blessings in ours.

Till the next time……………………………………………………Be Blest!!!

  1. What a beautiful post!

Reminiscing about our loved ones that are now gone can certainly create a lot of mixed emotions for sure.

But the memories of the times we’ve spent with them are lasting and are certainly something to be treasured 🙂

    Hang in there, dear

  2. What lovely memories. Lexie was a wonderful cat and looks as though her coat was beautiful. You are right, we miss them so much, but must treasure our time with them and the pictures we keep.

Happy Pet Memorial Day you two * gentle hugs *
