A Brief Summary Of Why Mommy Needs Service Cats

Dezi lays on the top of the Liberty cat tree

Mommy, me thought spring was here. Why is it so cold and stormin’ out?

Spring is here Dezi. But April in Oklahoma is windy, chilly and stormy. And we may still get a freeze before it’s all over.

A FUREEZE? But mommy, me wants da sun to come out so we can go fur a stroll.

Dezi lays in the stroller waiting to go out
Let’s g fur a stroll mommy.

I know baby. Trust me, we’ll take plenty of strolls when the weather warms up.

Dezi tries to nap in the stroller
Me’s gonna wait right here.

Okay mommy, thank you. Ya’ know a while back a couple of me’s new furiends asked why you needed Service kitties. Me told them we would write a posty ‘bout it and then lots of things happened dat we needed to write ‘bout  and so we never got ‘round to ‘splainin’ anythin’ to them.

I know baby, maybe we can give them a little over view today.

Dat would be pawsum mommy. And then when me’s new sisfur and helper gets here they can read all ‘bout us trainin’ her. Me can’t wait to meet her.

Me either sweety. I sure hope she finds us soon.

Anyways, a long time ago now, you had car accident dat left you disabled, right?

That’s right.

You had lots of nerve and muscle damage; and cuz of it lots of times you don’t have any feelin’ in your extremities. And you have a blood clot on your brain dat makes you have migraines all da time.

Well sort of honey. The blood clot is just one of the reasons I have migraines.

 Dezi lays in the wheelchair

Well, okay. Anyways, you have lots of pain and have to take medicines to control it. And when we go to sleep at night those medicines wear off and you get all stiff and stuck in pawsition; so you can’t move in da meownings. So dat’s why you need massages to get your body and muscles warmed up and movin’. And cuz you need to visit da pawdee box room when you wake up, you need me to drive your wheelchair so you can pull yourself onto da, well, you know. And ya’ never know when da pain or da pinched nerves or whatever is gonna cause you to pass out and go fallin’ to da ground. Me knows tho’ and you need me to tell ya’ so you don’t have to fall all da way to da floor.

I sure do baby. I really appreciate you letting me know. That floor sure is hard and an awful long way down. And for a migraine. there’s nothing in the world better than a purring kitty giving a massage. It’s so relaxing and helps so much.

Oh mommy me luvs givin’ you a massage. Me sometimes gets so happy me drools a little. But on with me’s duties. You also pass out in da shower a lot. Somethin’ to do with those nerve things, right? Anyways, a peep can drown in as little as 2 inches of water. So it’s really purrtant to keep your head outta da flow of da shower. And you’re not very graceful mommy. Lots of times you lose your balance and fall. Ifin you was to ever be hurt really bad and couldn’t get to da fone, you would need somepawdy to call da ambulance to help you. Even with a helper me can’t stop da bleedin’ or patch ya’ up.

Well baby you summed it up pretty good. Now why don’t we end with something positive today.

New Betta fish swimming in his aquarium
Say hey to Dougie me’s fishy

Dat’s a great idea mommy. Me knows everypawdy wants to know what me decided to call me’s fishy. There was a lot of great names suggested by ya’ll. And fur da record me had already tried to name him brekky, lunch or dinner, and mommy sed no. She sed dat was worse than callin’ him fishy. Anyways, me’s furiends over at J-Cats made a really cool suggestion. They live in Israel and sed da Hebrew word fur fish is “Dag” purrnounced Doug. So me’s gonna call him Dougie. Dat way me’s still callin’ him fishy, Dougie just sounds better. So there ya’ have it. Me knows me hit ya’ with several reviews in a row, but dat’s what happens when ya’ take time off. As me sed earlier, it’s stormin’ here, so we will be ‘round to visit as soon as we can.

Fursday Is Furiday When You Pull An All-Nighter

Oh Furiday what took you so long? We was so confused we kept callin’ Fursday, Furiday. MOL  Now you may be wunnerin’ why we was so confused, right? Well let me ‘splain. As you know mommy uses a wheelchair in da meowning’s cuz she can’t get ‘round on da legs God gave her till she gets her medicine and her muscles and all wake up. Anyways, those wheelchairs run on rechargeable batteries. Seems everything runs on batteries these days. And you know, nuffin’ these days is made to last includin’ da batteries in those wheelchairs. Over da last couple of weeks da chair has been getting’ slower and slower. See once we learn how to drive da wheelchair mommy let’s us turn up da speed a bit. But here lately even on full out wheely mode da chair wuld barely creep along and when it hit a little bump it would come to a joltin’ stop and start beepin’ at us. So mommy knew it was time fur new batteries but she didn’t know who to call. See da company we got da chair from is no longer in business. And Medicare likes to work with da same company they bought an item from fur repairs. We don’t why, we just know there’s a lot of red tape to switch companies.

Dezi standing in wheelchair and looking out the door
Me’s welkummin’ Furiday and da sunshine

Anyways, mommy had to ask around to find out who everypawdy was usin’ since they all got their wheelchairs from da same place. Mr. W has someone out here workin’ on his chair all da time, so he finally gave mommy a nummer to call to get new batteries fur her chair. When mommy called ‘em they set up a pointment with her fur yesfurday furst thing in da meownin’. She didn’t get to choose a time or she wulda chose sometime in da afternoon of course. Anyways, knowin’ dat she can’t get ‘round in da meownings she knew she wuld have to stay up all night Wednesday and continue takin’ medicine so she kuld function when da repairman got here Fursday. Me has to tell ya’, me doesn’t like all-nighters. We all miss out on prime snugglin’ time. Fankfully it doesn’t happen all da time. Sis Lexi gave up ‘round 4 a.m. and she went off to da bed to get some sleep. Me on da other hand wasn’t leavin’ mommy’s site, so me laid down in one of da cat beds we have dat be unner mommys desk. Me kuld ketch a little shut eye and still watch over mommy. Needless to say we both kept noddin’ off. Mommy sez she’s getting’ to old fur these kinda things.

Lexi lays in wheelchair and looks up
It’z about time da we got new batteriez fur da wheelchair

Well Fursday finally arrived and mommy fed sissy and me a little early so da repairman wuldn’t innerupt our brekky, and then she sat down to wait fur da call. We’s not in da GPS so she spected him to call fur directions since he was comin’ from da big city (Oklahoma City). Well she waited and waited and waited some more, but no call came. Finally a little after noon da repairman called and sed he wuld be at our house in about an hour. Mommy was exhausted and fit to be tied. All she kuld say was, dat we kulda went to bed and got all those snuggles we missed out on. Oh well kulda, wulda, shulda, right?

Lexi lays in wheelchair

Da repairman finally arrived ‘bout 1:30 p.m. and sed he had batteries in his truck. So he turned on mommys wheelchair and tried to navigate it outside. They never do anythin’ in your house. Mommy hates dat cuz she doesn’t trust them, but she has no choice lessen she wants to go outside and watch ‘em. Da batteries were so drained dat when he got to da front door, da chair wuldn’t even go over da little hump. He had to manually push da chair all da way out to his truck. It’s not dat far to da parkin’ lot from our partment, but it took 15 minutes fur him to get dat chair outside. It was kinda chilly yesfurday, but repair man was workin’ up a sweat. Anyways, he replaced da batteries and brought da chair back to da house and left and mommy sed, “WooHoo, girls it’s nap time.

Dezi laying in wheelchair
Me needs a nap.

We’s got a purropurrly workin’ wheelchair again and can finally go faster than da tortoise. So needless to say me had to play a little this meownin’ afur deliverin’ da chair to mommy. Me went speedy zip zoomy and ran smack dab into da bed. Neither mommy nor sis Lexi was amused. At least we’s finally caught up with da days and it’s still Furiday. MOL  So as far as we’s concerned, we’s had two Furidays this week. We’ll be round to visit as soon as we can, mommy’s still tryin’ to ketch up on da rest she missed and sissy and me are tryin’ to ketch up on da cuddles. As we do every week, we’s joinin’ Rascal and Rocco fur da Pet Parade blog hop. Check it out, ya’ might make a new furiend or two. Me’s gotta go get some more cuddles now, so me will see ya’ later.

When was da last time you stayed up all night?

After an all nighter are you alert or walkin’ in a haze?

Would you like to have 2 Furidays a week?

All Before Noon

Well it’s not even noon and mommy’s been cleanin’ non stop. Course by da time you read this it will be well after noon. Anyways, me tried to help her with all dat cleanin’ but she didn’t seem all dat impressed with me’s attempts. Let me ‘splain. After getting’ up this meownin’ and goin’ thru our normal routine we headed to da kitchen so mommy kuld make sis Lexi and me sum brekky. She always has a drink cup with melted ice from da night afur dat she has to wash up afur getting’ down to da business of puttin’ our noms in our plates. So mommy got out our plates and put them on da prep counter and then turned da water on to wash up da drinkin’ cup. Now lots of ya’ will member dat mommy has times when she doesn’t feel her extremities, da legs, arms, hands and feet. But thru da years she has learned to make ‘em work even when she doesn’t feel ‘em, it just takes a lot of concentration.

Dezi stretching the arch backed pose on the vanity

Well this meownin’ was one of those times. Unfurtunately mommys’ concentration musta been somewhere else, cuz when she went to pick up da drinkin’ cup, it slipped right outta her hand and fell to da floor splatterin’ sticky watered down drink all over da place. She saw it fallin’ and didn’t even try to stop it. And once it hit da ground, she just stared at it pourin’ da remainin’ liquid all over da floor. Me meowed and sis Lexi hissed tryin’ to break thru mommy’s meownin’ haze. Mommy shook her head as ifin to shake off da haze and sed, “Oh my cats, I’ve gotta clean that up.” She reached down to pick up da cup and me saw da puddle of liquid on da floor and went over to mop with me’s floofy tail and paws. Yep, me just walked right into dat puddle and sat down and started da tail swoosh. Back and forth went me’s tail and da liquid went splashin’ even further onto da floor. Me even swooshed sum right up in sis Lexi’s face. Me is such a good helper. And me knew sissy kuld use a drink after takin’ her antacid, so she shulda purreciated havin’ a drink delivered right to her mouth, right?.

Lexi with mouth open laying on the floor
My mouth’s not that big!!!

Well it seems nopawdy was impurressed with me’s help cuz sissy hissed at me and mommy threw out da paper towel she had been usin’ to clean her legs with and started hollerin’, “Oh Dezi, NO! Now you’ve gotta have a bath too.” A bath? Uh no, not afur brekky me thought, and took off runnin’. Sis Lexi was in hot pursuit as me’s tail swooshed and continued to scatter sticky liquid thru out da house includin’ more in sissy’s face as she was so close behind me. By now mommy was hot on her tail and hollerin’ da whole time, “Dezi! Get back here, NOW!” Back there, me thought? So does she want me to help or not? You know sometimes you just can’t seem to purrlease anypawdy. Sissy retreated to da bed fur a little tongue and spit bath and mommy scooped me up and to da pawdee box room we went fur a purropurr bath. Me smells really purretty now, and all afur brekky.

Dezi laying on the floor and licking paw
Hmmmmm me thinks mommy missed a spot.

Mommy got da floor cleaned as bestest she kuld so we kuld get our brekky afur lunch, and sed she wuld get to da moppin’ with an appropriate tool later. Least da floor, sis Lexi and me ain’t sticky any more and we did get our brekky afur lunch. And mommy finally got to sit down and have a purropurr cup of coffee. Me guesses mommy will still tell peeps dat we can’t do chores like moppin’. You know tomorrow is ifin pets had fumms (thumbs) day. And me bets dat ifin me had those fumms me kulda really cleaned dat floor to mommys likin’. And me kulda made her a cup o’ joe too. And we wuld be able to work da flashy box to ketch some of mommys’ funny antics. Just think of all da things we cats kuld do with fumms. Me wuldn’t have to dictate me’s postys, me kuld drive da wheelchair with me’s paws ‘stead of me’s mouth, and we kuld take over da world. Well, me’s gunna go dream ‘bout all da things we kuld do with fumms.

Have you ever had a hazy moment that resulted in a mess?

How would you (or your pet) use thumbs if they had them?

Blest Sunday Introducing…

Meowllo everypawdy and welkum to another Blest Sunday. We do hope we were able to help some of ya’ out with our article on vaccinations. Mommy whispered sumthin’ ‘bout it bein’ close to time fur me to be seein’ da VET fur dat very thing. Anyways enuff ‘bout dat, it’s Blest Sunday today and as always we are feelin’ mighty blest. Sissy has been eatin’ and keepin’ it down fur a few days straight now. She even had a little rumble wiff a nip toy or two last night. Thanks to awnty Anonymous mommy has coffee, and me’s feelin’ great. And we have all of you. Is dat not blest?

Lexi in ommy's lap getting love with a side glance

We are also part of da Chewy Blogging Family which allows us to try lots of pawsum foods, treats and occasional toys and groomin’ purroducts every month. Now this month we were asked ifin we wuld like to take a 30 day challenge with a new cat food. It’s only available in kibble so mommy told sis Lexi and me absolutely not. You know me’s not sure me is ever gunna get another piece of kibble in me’s life. But dat’s okay, me’s quite happy with da noms me’s eatin’ now. But mommy got to thinkin’ ‘bout poor Buddy, and decided he shuld take da challenge. He kuld certainly use sum good high quality noms, so a few emails later and Buddy’s all signed on. Then me got to thinkin’ dat we have some new furiends dat may not know Buddy, so me thought we shuld take today to tell ya’ a little ‘bout him.

Buddy looking straight into camera in sit pose

Almost 7 years ago now Buddy showed up at our partment complex lookin’ all skinny and raggedy. He was scroungin’ ‘round in da snow lookin’ fur food and warmth. Me had joined mommy and sis Lexi 3 months earlier, and he wasn’t much bigger than me, so we guesses him to be about me’s age. Well our ‘partments have a limit on how many animals are allowed purr apartment and so we kuldn’t take him in. But of course mommy was sharin’ our noms with him and had made a little make shift shelter on our porch so he kuld get outta da cold. And then a few days later mr. W came wheelin’ up to our door holdin’ dat cute little scroungy stray and grinnin’ from ear to ear.

Buddy in full sun on floor

Da furst words outta mommy’s mouth was, “Are you gonna keep him?” Yep mommy’s known fur getting’ right to da point. Anyways, mr. W sez, “I don’t know. I don’t have anything for a cat.” Well of course mommy wasn’t gunna let dat stand in da way of da scroungy little stray getting’ a home. Me had just graduated to da big pawdee box, so mommy grabbed up me’s kitten box and a baggie of noms and sum litter and sed, “Now you do. This will get you through a week till you can get to the store to buy him some supplies. He needs to go to the VET as soon as possible to make sure he’s healthy, and you need to think about having him neutered in a couple of months.” Yep, mommy done had it all planned out and was makin’ sure da little scroungeball had a furever home.

Buddy in hallway in sit pose

Now me had been checkin’ all this out from da window and me kuld see da bewilderment all over mr. W’s face. He sat there in his wheelchair with da kitty in one hand and a litterbox full of supplies in da other and looked at mommy as ifin to say, “I just wanted to show you the kitty.” But mommy wasn’t lettin’ up. She saw dat face too, but pushed on and sed, “What are ya’ gonna call him? He needs a name.” Mr. W just kept lookin’ at mommy with his mouth wde open. And then mommy sed, “Now you won’t have to be alone. You’ve got a little buddy that needs you.” Mr. W and da scroungeball wheeled off to their own apartment. We didn’t see or hear from them fur da rest of da day. When da next day rolled ‘round, mr. W came wheelin’ up da walk to da door yet again. And yep, you guessed it, he had named da little scroungeball Buddy. Mommy became much like a godmother to him, cuz she was da purrson mr. W came to when Buddy needed his claws trimmed, and to apply da ear mite treatment da VET gave them, and to take him to da clinic fur neuterin’ and to take care of him when mr. W’s away. He goes to da hospital a lot; mr. W not Buddy. He sez they have great food and he doesn’t have to have ‘partment inspections ifin he goes to da hospital in a month. We can’t confurm dat last one cuz dat’s not been our experience, but dat’s what mr. W sez. Mommy calls Buddy her third kitty. He just doesn’t live with us. So this 30 day challenge was purrfect fur Buddy.

Dezi in mommy's lap close up getting love

When we were all younger, Buddy used to come down fur play dates and birthday parties. But as we’s all gotten older, we don’t all enjoy bein’ together as much anymore, so now we have short visits when we go fur strolls and such. You know dat ole territory thing we cats feel. Anyways, dat’s a little ‘bout Buddy. You’ll be seein’ him here a few times this next month tellin’ ya’ ‘bout how he’s doin’ with this 30 day challenge, and now you’ll know who he is. You’ll have to stay tuned to find out more about this new food. In da meantime, be good to each other and have a Blest Sunday. And we’s joinin’ da Kitties Blue fur Sunday Selfies.
