Eye Envy: We’ve Got It

Meow and welcome. We have a real eye opening treat fur ya’ll today. Some of you may remember back when sis Raena came to live with us she had a little infection what purrduced a lot of gunk in her eyes and nose. Poor thing purrobably couldn’t smell very well and we know her eyes bothered her a lot cuz she was always washin’ ‘em. Of course mommy talked to da VET ‘bout it and put her on medicine to clear it up. Raena got better, but cuz of da poor breeding purractices of da breeder, sis Raena will always have a runny eye. Now she isn’t sick anymore, but one eye still gets a bit gunky and has to be cleaned regularly.

Baby Raena her first day riding home with mommy

This “gunk” or tears as they’re more commonly called can stain an anipals fur. This is an issue most commonly found in the flat faced breeds of cats and dogs. But it can occur in any anipal. In a recent post where Raena explained the origins of Ragdolls, she pointed out that the Persian kitty had been included when creating our breed. She also pointed out that altho’ the Ragdoll breed is no longer cross bred among reputable breeders, it still goes on in the more disreputable breeding programs like the ones we came from. And that altho’ our lineage is Ragdoll to Ragdoll, DNA from those other breeds is still part of our make up. All those factors add up to explain Raenas’ more flattened face and teary eyes. This is one reason to do your research and understand what pawssible traits may occur in any animal you want to adopt, but certainly those who come from breeders. Certain traits can lie dormant fur generations before suddenly occurring in one or more babies in a litter.

Raenaselfie of nose and eyes Yep, see all that staining around her “white” eye? And this is

a foto that looks “good”.

Anyways, mommy had us ask all of our furiends what they used to clean, clear up and/or keep at bay these tears and the stains they leave behind. More often than not, mere water isn’t enuff, so we began our search to find something that would help sis Raena. Mommy wanted something that would clean around her eyes naturally and safely. Stains are caused by bacteria. And bacteria growth so close to the eye, could cause a re-infection, or other ailments that could lead to blindness. So, leavin’ it alone, just wasn’t an option fur mommy. And the staining, thus the bacteria moves. Every time Raena would clean her eye, that gunk was depawsited on her paw that would also stain and begin the growth of bacteria. And we use our paws fur a lot of things.

Eye Envy Starter Kit for Cats

This is a sponsored post. We received compensation in exchange for an honest review about Eye Envy for Cats. All opinions are our own and the truth as we believe it to be. As always we only bring products we have tried or use ourselves and believe would be of interest to you, our readers and friends.

Eye Envy starter kits for cats

Well, a couple of our furiends mentioned something called Eye Envy. Mommy did some research into the product and liked what she saw; so she contacted the company. The Eye Envy peeps were very nice and sent us a Starter Kit for Cats. The Eye Envy Starter Kit fur Cats includes: a 2 ounce bottle of cleaning solution, 1/2 ounce jar of application powder, and a jar of non-woven application pads. And of course a pawsum instruction sheet, all in a cute shimmering Gingham bag. We’re girly girls, so we all loved the bag. But what about the products? Mommy read the instructions, and it all seemed pretty simple. Well, ifin ya’ don’t count the part about holding kitty down to clean around the eyes. MOL  This product is intended fur External Use Only!!!

Eye Envy starter kit for cats

The Eye Envy cleaning solution is safe and natural. It doesn’t contain bleach, purroxide or any other harmful ingredients. It does include: Water, Witch Hazel, Boric Acid and Colloidal Silver. It also comes in 2 formulas, Original, which requires refrigeration, and a non refrigerated option. We received the non refrigerated formula. The Eye Envy Powder is to be used in conjunction with the cleaning solution to help repel future tears and bacterial staining. Mommy used a small extra soft toothbrush fur applying the Eye Envy Powder. The toothbrush actually allows the powder to penetrate below the top surface fur by brushing the area gently.

Raena Selfie woth paw reaching out

Anyways, Mommy took out one of those non-woven applicator pads and wet it with the Eye Envy solution and began to clean around Raena’s eyes. Kittens, mouses and rats!!! You shoulda seen all the yucky brown stuff on that pad. There are some things we just don’t take fotos of. MOL  And of course it’s just mommy and us, and she needed both hands for this application. Once the area was clean, mommy moved on to the next step. There was still a light stain, but remember this had been building up fur a little over 6 months. Eye Envy or any other tear stain removal product is an ongoing process. So, mommy dipped the top bristles of the small extra soft toothbrush into the Eye Envy Powder and began to apply around Raenas’ eyes. Please remember to hold kitty/doggys’ head very still. You will be working very close to the eyes, and altho’ the Eye Envy is safe, try to avoid getting it directly in the anipals eyes. And you definitely don’t want to poke kitty/doggy in the eye with the brush. The area dried quickly with the application of the powder, and lightened even more. Mommy applied some of the powder to sis Raenas’ paw as well, and Raena was off and playing as ifin nuffin’ had happened.

Raena laying on floor and staring at the camera

The first couple of times the process from start to finish took between 5 and 10 minutes. Mommy now has a system , and the whole process only takes a couple of minutes. That includes time to gather the products and Raena, apply Eye Envy, and put it all away. And even apply a little around mes eyes. Ya’ know, ya’ can’t leave anykitty out. Ifin Raena’s getting something, me wants some too. MOL  Anyways, mommy repeated these steps once a day fur the first week. And now repeats these steps a couple of times a week to maintain the area and keep the bacterial staining away. Raena is much happier now that she doesn’t have gunky eyes constantly. And mommy says it’s a very easy process, and is so happy that Raena’s more comfortable. So we give the Eye Envy system 4 paws up each and 2 thumbs from mommy.

 Raena laying on nip mat

You can buy Eye Envy directly from their website, chewy.com and many other pet supply stores. A starter kit runs about $20.00. The Eye Envy Powder will last quite some time, as a little goes a long way. You will need to replenish the Eye Envy solution and non-woven applicator pads more frequently. The solution runs from $10.00 for a 2 ounce size to $72.00 fur a 32 ounce size with sizes in between. The replacement pads can be purchased in a jar or you can just buy the pads and reuse the jar from the starter kit. If you have an anipal with a tearing issue, we highly recommend the Eye Envy system. And we’d like to thank the peeps at Eye Envy fur sending us the starter kit. It was just what we needed.

Raena selfie with mommy holding her head up

All cleaned up and lookin’ good. Raena does have some color

around that eye that isn’t stain and looks really nice now.

Well, we’re gonna wrap it up fur now and try to get some visitin’ done. Mommy has a doctors’ ‘pointment tomorrow. Fankfully she purrtended she lost her ‘pointment card and called to confurm her ‘pointment cuz Doc’s gonna be gone Furiday which is when her ‘pointment would have been. And nope, da office hadn’t called mommy to reschedule. As a lot of you ‘member, this isn’t da furst time this has happened recently. (shakes head) What are ya’ gonna do? Anyways, we’ll be ‘round as soon as we can. We hope ya’ll are stayin’ warm, and havin’ a great day.

Winter Is Coming and We’re Having Treats

Hey is anypawdy out there? It’s me RaenaBelle. You should see da outsides here. It’s so wet, gray and yucky lookin’. Mommy and sis Dezi say dat Winter is comin’. Well, I don’t think I’s gonna like this Winter. I’s do try to like everypawdy. Mommy says dat’s what good girlys do, but ya’ know there’s just some…

Dezi and Raena sitting on the Liberty Cat tree

Raena!!! Furst of all, Winter isn’t a purrson. And secondly, tellin’ ‘bout peeps you don’t like just fur da tellin’ of it ain’t nice either.

Well ifin Winter ain’t a purrson, then what is it sissy?

It’s a season Raena. And you purrobably won’t like it; mommy and me don’t. It gets cold and storms a lot. We get ice and snow and mommy gets even slower.

Well then let’s just tell it not to come sissy.

But dat we could Raena, dat we could. (Dezi dreamily thinks about fun in the sun) There are some good things dat happen in da Winter, so we just hunker down and do da bestest we can to make it till Spring. Extra treats and snuggles help, along with da ‘lectric blanky.

Extra treats and snuggles? Dat sounds wonderful. What’s a ‘lectric blanky?

You’ll see, mommy’ll be draggin’ it out befur long.

 Halo Mix 'n Mores Chicken

Ya’ reckon she’ll buy us some more of these Halo Mix ‘n Mores?

Dezi and Raena eating

Could be Raena. Ya’ know, a little while back we joined up with Halo Pets to be influencers; and they sent us a bag of their brand new Freeze dried cage-free Chicken Mix ‘n Mores to try out. Ya’ know how much we luv our freeze dried noms and treats, so we were really excited to try these out.

(Disclaimer: We received a bag of Halo Mix ‘n Mores free of charge We weren’t asked to write a review, but thought they were good enough that you, our friends and family might be interested in learning about them. All opinions are our own.)

 Raena eats treats

Yeah, they were really good sissy. Small kitty bite size niblets of chicken, chicken liver, whole flaxseed, salt, salmon oil and mixed tocopherols. Da bag says they use whole chickens. Betcha’ our furiend Bear would luv dat. And there’s no grains included, no rendered meat and no dehydration. Mommy says they were easily crumbled but also held their shape well. We ate them mostly as treats, but mommy did put some over our foods too. Me gave ‘em a 4 paws up dat’s fur sure.

 Dezi eats treats

Me agrees Raena, they were purretty tasty. Me knows mommy thinks they be a little ‘spensive at $17.41 fur a 6 ounce bag, but seems all freeze dried noms and treats are costly. Fur tastiness me gives them 4 paws up too. Mommy said she was glad dat both of us ate them and liked them; so she gave them a thumb up fur dat. Only 1 thumb, cuz da cost be a little purrhibitive fur a lot of peeps. They come in 2 different flavors for kitties, chicken and salmon.  Halo does a lot fur those kitties dat be less furtunate than us and doggies too. They’re most notably known fur their Spot’s Stew, but they are diversifyin’ their purroduct menu, so check ‘em out. In da meantime…

I’s wanna do it sissy. We’re joinin’ Rascal and Rocco fur da weekly Pet Parade. Now I’s gonna go see ‘bout getting’ some of those extra treats sissy was talkin’ ‘bout. Hope you all have a pawsum weekend and gets lots of treats yourselves.

Raw Boost Mixers #ChewyInfluencer

Meowllo and welcome. It’s time fur another Chewy review. As pawrt of da Chewy Influencer furmily we get to try out some great purroducts each month to tell you all ‘bout. As most of ya’ know, we’re mostly raw fed kitties by way of Freeze Dried noms.

Raena lays on Liberty cat tree

Dat’s cuz some kitty isn’t ready to munch down on bites and bits of tasty fresh pink meat.

Disclaimer: This is a sponsored post. We received compensation in exchange for our honest review of the Natures Variety Raw Boost Mixers. All opinions unless otherwise stated are our own and are as always, the truth as we see it. We only bring you products we use or have tried and believe would be of interest to you our readers and friends.

Natures Variety Raw Boost Mixers Cat Food Toppers

You’re right Raena, me’s just not ready. But da way you like to graze, neither are you. Hmmpht  Anyways, we received a 6 oz. bag of Nature’s Variety Raw Boost Mixers Chicken Cat Food Toppers. Da ingredients are purretty simple:

Chicken (Including Ground Chicken Bone), Turkey, Turkey Liver, Turkey Heart, Pumpkinseeds, Carrots, Apples, Butternut Squash, Ground Flaxseed, Montmorillonite Clay, Dried Kelp, Broccoli, Apple Cider Vinegar, Salmon Oil, Mixed Tocopherols, Rosemary Extract, Blueberries, Dried Chicory Root.

As you can see, these Mixers don’t contain any of those questionable ingredients our humans like to avoid. There are lots of fruits and veggies, but hey, dat’s not uncommon these days and meats are da bulk of da bites. Now some of ya’ may look at dat list and say “Clay?” “Why would I feed my kitty clay?” We know this cuz once upon a time mommy did dat very same thing. Check it out. This clay is actually very good fur kitty and helps move toxins outta kitties body.

So let’s see what da Chewy website has to say are da Key benefits of Nature’s Variety Raw Boost Mixers.

Key Benefits

  • Great topper for kibble

  • High quality, raw nutrition in a convenient and easy-to-serve form

  • Pure protein for lean muscles and strong bones

  • Natural ingredients for optimal nutrient absorption

  • Nutritious oils for healthy skin and coat

  • Freeze dried and all-natural for an irresistible taste

  • Grain-free and gluten-free

  • No artificial colors or preservatives

Nautre’s Variety Raw Boost Mixers are available in chicken and rabbit. They also have what are called Mini’s and actual Food in several varieties as well as doggy furmulas. They range in purrice from $7.19 to $11.99. Da bites themselves are little cylinders and mostly uniform in size. They are a little crunchier than other freeze dried foods and would in our opinion make a good choice to aid in switching kitty from kibble to something healthier. These Mixers can be served wet or dry, as a treat or meal topper.

 Dezi eats treats

When they arrived we didn’t have any treats, so mommy decided to give us a few fur treat time. Of course me made mommy break them in half. Me’s a dainty little Southern Belle and likes really small bites. Once mommy got them broken me enjoyed da mid day snack. Me didn’t eat them all, as me purrfurs a more natural 1 ingredient treat from da frontal area of da chicken, but in me’s food later dat day, they went “all gone”. So me must give them 4 paws up. Good natural ingredients and tasty little bites are great fur kitty. Me knows you’re all wonderin’ what sis Raena thought, so let’s ask her?

 Raena eats treats

Is it furinally mines turn sissy? I’s liked ‘em just fine. I sure did. And mommy didn’t even have to break ‘em in half fur me. Altho’ I’s liked ‘em dat way too. I’s sure do like treats. And dinner. And Brekky. I’s just really like to eat. Yep, 4 paws up fur da Natures Variety Raw Boost Mixer Chicken Cat Food Toppers from me. Can we have some now sissy?

 Raena eats treats

Fanks Raena, we know you like to eat. Mommy says you eat like a growin’ teenage boy. As fur gettin’ some now, we just had brekky. Now go take a nap and let me finish our review. Everypawdy’s waitin’ to find out what mommy thinks. Me asked her and she said she likes da natural good fur us ingredients, and da lack of questionable ingredients. She also likes dat we like it, and gives ‘em 2 thumbs up. Now we know you all wanna get your own, so head on over and check it out. And hey, da holidays are comin’ fast, so while you’re there, browse around. Chewy has updated their website and added lots of new purroducts. They’ve got great purrices, speedy free shippin’ on all orders over $49.00, pawsum customer service, and you can set up an auto ship and save even more. Don’t worry, you can skip, cancel or delay dat auto ship at any time. And there’s a low flat rate speedy shippin’ option fur all orders less than $49.00.

Well there ya’ go. We hope to go fur a stroll later today, and mommy’s case manager is ‘posed to be here, so we’ll be by to visit as soon as we can. We did get an email askin’ ‘bout Shad’s back story. We said her and mommy had been thru a lot together and this email wanted to know more ‘bout dat. Mommys theory is dat ifin one purrson be askin’, there’s purrobably more wonderin’ da same thing. So ifin you would like to hear Shad’s backstory purrlease let us know in da comments. Otherwise mommy will just answer this in dat email. Gotta go get a quick bath.

A Cat’s Gonna Scratch, Where Will It Be #ChewyInfluencer

Hey, is anypawdy out there? It’s me, RaenaBelle. Guess what? I’s didn’t hijack anythin’ today. Sis Dezi’s gonna let me take da lead. She’s such a pawsum sisfur. She’s really pawsum fur a lot of reasons. Did you all know dat befur I was born sis Dezi was enterin’ contests and give aways tryin’ to win new toys and other stuffs to give me when I came to live with her and mommy? She did win one of them and I’s luvs dat toy. She’s really sumfin’, mines sisfur. She knew mommy couldn’t afford to buy new stuffs fur me and she wanted me to have somethin’ of mines very own dat wasn’t a hand me down. So, when we got da oppurrtunity to review a brand new kitty scratcher from Kong as pawrt of da Chewy Influencer purrogram this month, she jumped at it. Yes we have svratchers but they’re all scented up with sis Dezi and her sis Lexi’s (may she rest in peace) scents.

Dezi lays on the Liberty Cat Tree

Disclaimer: As Chewy.com Influencers we received compensation for trying out and reviewing the Kong Incline Scratcher. All opinions unless otherwise stated are our own. As always we only review items we use or have tried and believe would be of interest to you our readers and friends. And will always tell the truth of our experience.

Be sure and let everypawdy know dat you’ll be sharin’ da new scratcher Raena.

Of course I’s gonna share sissy.

 Kong Incline Cat Scratcher

Me knows, but it’s good to make it clear. Anyways, let me say a few things ‘bout Kong. They are a pawsum company dat has been makin’ doggy toys fur years. They even make some dat can withstand almost any toture inflicted by da rowdiest of pups. So when they started makin’ cat toys mommy thought they would be no brainers. After all, we kitties aren’t nearly as destructive as da woofies.  MOL

 Kong Incl;ine Cat Scratcher

Can I’s tell ‘bout our new scratcher now sissy?  (Dezi nods and continues to clean her furs) Fanky fanks. So we received da Kong Incline Cat Scratcher made of corrugated cardboard. Now this is da purrfect size scratcher fur this little kitty girl. It’s 19.25X7.5X1.5 in size and has a double sided surface. And it’s refillable. It also came with a small bag of Kong Purremium North American CatNip. Da scratcher has 3 small holes in da inclined end and a crinkle ball dangles there to entice kitty to play. Mommy says anypawdy who has had a kitten knows no enticement is needed. But dat might be a good feature fur an older less destructive cat. And we’ll ‘splain dat in a minute. Furst let me give ya’ da key benefits as listed on Chewy’s website.

Key Benefits

  • Available in three sizes to satisfy your cat’s natural scratching instincts by encouraging appropriate scratching behavior

  • Environmentally friendly cat scratchers are made with renewable resources and are recyclable

  • Double scratcher functions as a refill for the incline scratcher

  • Scratch pads are reversible for extended use, giving your cat’s paws double the use and double the fun

  • KONG Premium North American Catnip included to entice play

Sizes

  • Single Scratcher:  19.25 x 4.5 x 1.5 inches

  • Double Scratcher: 19.25 x 8.88 x 1.5 inches

And I’s already gave ya’ da measurements fur da incline scratcher which is size 3.

Raena plays with the paper cover of the Kong Incline scratcher

Da furst thing mommy did was take fotos. And then she carefully pulled da paper off da scratching pad. Hmmmm  da spot where da glue held it on there is still there. Mommy’s tried everythin’ toget it off to no avail. Dat’s okay, let mines claws and teefies at it. I’s’ll make short work of it fur sure. (Chewing on and swallowing glue…Not a thought that makes mommy happy) Anyways, dat Kong nip must be purretty good cuz dat paper top was lots of fun. Furinally mommy headed to da livin’ room with da Kong Incline Scratcher itself. I was so excited I’s just couldn’t wait and jumped from da tree right at dat scratcher and mommy. Mommy dropped da scratcher and I’s started investigatin’. Dat’s why all our fotos are of me and da scratcher in front of da door. Mommy couldn’t even get it to da livin’ room. I began to scratch and chew. Yeah, I’s figger ifin it’s good fur sharpenin’ mines claws it must be good fur sharpenin’ mines teefies too. And then I’s found da hole and dat cutesy little danglin’ crinkle ball.

Raena pokes her head through the hole of the Kong incline scratcher

Less than 2 minutes later, dat ball was mines. Yep, I dismembered pulled dat ball from da scratcher all together. Mommy couldn’t see a string attached to da ball so she just took a few fotos. I’s then returned to da Incline scratcher and while mommys back was turned I went in fur dat danglin’ string dat once held da ball. Of course it was a piece of stretchy elasticized string and mommy heard it immediately. She took dat string away from me so fast mines head spun. I’s purrtested, “But mommy, dat looks like soooooooo much fun.” “it’s mine, after all it was attached to mines new cat scratcher.” All to no avail. Mommy wouldn’t give me dat cool string no matter what I’s meowed, chortled or chirped. She said somethin’ ‘bout dangerous and chokin’ hazard, and serious tummy issues and so on and threw dat ‘lastecized string in da trash. Even without da cool string, da Kong incline scratcher is amazin’. I’s give it all paws up. Let’s ask sissy what she thinks.

Raena carries the crinkle ball from the Kong Incline cat scratcher

Fanks Raena. Me likes it too. Altho’ you already had da ball torn off befur me’s got a chance to play, da scratcher is sturdy and does da job. Cuz of da crinkle ball attachment and da dangers associated with such features, me gives da Kong Incline Scratcher 3 paws up. Fur $5.65 it’s a great buy. Me knows mommy wants to say somethin’, so me will turn it over to her fur a minute. Mommy…

Dezi scratches the Kong Incline scratcher

Thank you girls. The Kong Incline Scratcher is a great option for cats and kittens of all ages and size. However, the crinkle ball and the accompanying string should be removed immediately before given to any cat. This isn’t the first design flaw I’ve seen in Kongs’ cat toys and is a bit disappointing. But all in all, the scratcher is wonderful, sturdy and liked by both Dezi and Raena. That makes it hit in my books. So one thumb up for the scratcher. And remember, even declawed cats have the need to scratch. This would be a great option. (Please, Do Not declaw your cat)

String attachment for Kong Incline ScratcherThis is the offending string and that’s a small piece of lightweight

cardboard it’s tied onto. This is threaded through a hole in the top

that isn’t secured so kitty can tear it out easily. And that small piece of

lightweight cardboard is already torn. Very Dangerous!!!

Raena scratches and bites the Kong Incline cat scratcher

Fanky Fanks mommy and sissy. I know you all wanna get a Kong scratcher fur yourselves. So head on over and check it out. While you’re at Chewy take a look around. They carry lots of supplies and ship speedy and furee fur all orders over $49.00. There’s a low flat rate shipping fur all other orders. And you can even set up an auto ship so you never run out of noms, treats or litter again. And don’t worry, you can skip, cancel or delay at any time.

Did I do okay sissy?

You did great Raena. We’re joinin’ da Chewy blog hop and da weekly Pet Parade, so check them out. Me is gonna repeat what mommy said. All kitties need a scratcher, even those kitties who have been declawed. But, Purrlease Do Not declaw your kitty. Mommy has some business to take care of this afternoon, so we’ll be ‘round to visit soon. We hope you all have a pawsum weekend.
