Raena peaking out of a chewy box

Are you sure sis Dezi? I’s wanna make sure I’s not just whistlin’ Dixie.

What do you know ‘bout whistlin’ Dixie Raena?

Raena resting on the edge of a box surrounded by packing paper

Well dat’s what mommy says she’s doin’ when she’s talkin’ but nopawdy’s listin’.

Okay Raena, but this is different. Anyways, we gotta get on with it. We’re gonna be talkin’ ‘bout Chewy.com today, cuz we’ve got a review to post.

Raena crawling over the contents of a chewy review box

Oh Dezi, I’s luvs those chewy boxes. They’re pawsum!!!

Yep Raena they are dat fur sure. But we’s gonna meow ‘bout da contents of said box today. As ya’ know we’re Chewy Influencers and as such get products to try out every month. Well ya’ know how mommy’s always sayin’ how much she luvs us? This month there was a food called I and Love and You. With a name like dat, we just had to try it out. When it got here and mommy opened da furst can, she said, “Oh No.” She hadn’t seen anythin’ dat said it was a pate’, but sure ‘nuff, it is a pate’. No gravy in da can. There are lots of little specks of color what are veggies. But mommy knows we don’t eat pate’. Never da less, she put half in a plate fur me and half in a plate fur Raena and served it to us. Now befur we get to taste testin’ let’s tell ya’ a little more ‘bout this I and Love and You food.

It’s good fur all life stages. Now we seperated da ingredient list fur ya’ based on flavor. It’s much easier to read than da one on Chewy. Chewy.com lists these as da key benefits.

Key Benefits

  • For all stages of life

  • Real meat is the first ingredient

  • Free of grain, corn, wheat, soy and rice

  • No artificial preservatives, flavors or colors

  • Free of carrageenan

  • Made in the USA

Raena poses with a case of I and Love and You cat food

Notice these furmulas don’t contain any carrageenan, but they do have a lot of da gums. We do like dat it’s made in da USA and dat meat is da furst and really da second ingredient, as liver’s a protein fur us kitties. We also like dat it’s grain free with nuffin’ fake included. But ‘member, it’s a pate’. So let’s get back to da taste testin’. Me wouldn’t go near it. Mommy had to remove da plate befur me would eat anythin’ else. It really smells strong of fishies. And well, since Salmon oil is in all three furmulas, dat would make sense. Anyways, so me gives it a paw up fur good ingredients and bein’ made here in da US.

I and Love and You cat food in the can

Can I furinally meow again sissy?

Yes Raena, tell everypawdy what you thought ‘bout da I and Love and You food.

I and Love and You cat food in a plate

Fank you. I’s luvs it. Dat pate’ dislikin’ was you and Lexi, God rest her (Raena says reverently and quietly). I just might likes this pate’ stuffs. I did purrfur it when mommy added water to it so it had a little gravy, but I’s think it tastes really good. So I’s givin’ da I and Love and You noms 4 paws up. And Chewy gets 4 paws fur da box and packin’ paper too.

Raena, we’re not reviewin’ Chewy boxes. Altho’ me’s sure they’ll be happy to hear you liked da box, today’s all ‘bout da noms. Me asked mommy what she thought and like me she liked dat meat was da furst ingredient and dat it is made in da US. She isn’t crazy ‘bout all da gums or veggies, but was thrilled to find somethin’ else you would eat. So a thumb up from mommy too. Dat means 5 paws up and 1 thumb up fur I and Love and You. So ifin ya’ like pate’ foods with quality ingredients, give this a try.

The Nasty Hackys: Hairball Prevention

Meowllo everypawdy, today is National Hairball Awareness Day. Ifin you have a cat, you no doubt know when kitty has a hairball. Mommy says almost all kitty luvvers know da sound of a hairball comin’ up; we call it da nasty hackys. And of course we kitties are so careful to place them fur maximum effect. While you sleep we may place one in your slippers or da path you take furst thing in da meownin’ when you still have sleepy eyes. Where ever we put them, we’re telling you somethin’. We’re telling you dat we need some help cuz our furs are sheddin’ like mad. Mommy says watchin’ me hack up a hairball is pawful and she’s never seen anythin’ like it befur. She says me’s face says me is terrified and me convulses till da hairball comes up as a purrjectile and lands across da room. Let me tell ya’, me may not know what me’s face looks like, but me can tell ya’ dat is some scary stuffs. Me doesn’t like doin’ it not one bit. (don’t worry, we’re not showing fotos)

Dezi grooming on the cat tree

Most cat pawrents just accept hairballs as one of the unpleasant things dat goes along with luvvin’ and sharin’ your home with a cat. And truth is, most hairballs move through our system just fine and either become da nasty hackys or go out da other end. But in rare instances hairballs can cause a life threatening blockage. Ifin you notice kitty exhibiting any of da following symptoms, purrlease take kitty to da VET. Always better safe than sorry.

  • Ongoing vomiting, gagging, retching, or convulsing without purrducing anything

  • Lack of appetite

  • Lethargy

  • Constipation

  • Diarrhea

Thing is, me gets very few hairballs. And trust me, me’s very glad ‘bout dat. Sis Lexi used to get them almost daily, even when she was young and healthy. Mommy says in all da years she’s dealt with kitties, da short haired kitties seemed to have more hairballs than da long. Seems a little backwards, but it is what it is. So how can you humans help us with those nasty hairballs? Well Wellness purrvided us with this great infographic with some pawsum suggestions.

Brushing always helps get out some of da loose dead fur dat would otherwise end up in our tummies and eventually in a wet slimy pile somewhere inconvenient fur you. Now me knows dat not all kitties enjoy bein’ brushed. Me is just one of those kitties. Fank da cats me’s fur doesn’t mat or me would be in trouble. But there’s a product out there dat your grooming challenged kitty will like; you just have to keep trying. Me luvs da grooming glove especially well. Now it won’t get out mats, but ifin you’re using it regularly, mats shouldn’t form. There are many other grooming brushes, combs and helpers out there, so keep trying, you’ll eventually find kitty’s sweet spot. Mommy says she’s even gone so far as to use a moist paper towel or microfiber cloth. Again, those won’t take out mats, but ifin used regularly they should take enough of da dead furs out so dat hairballs don’t form. As cats, we naturally groom ourselves. Ifin you notice kitty seems a little OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder) about it, try to discourage this behavior. Ifin neccessary, see your VET; kitty may have other health issues dat need to be addressed.

There are treats, and pastes, and foods to help with hairball control as well. Wellness has just one of those foods. They’ve been busy creating a new formula dat be good fur kitty and helps with those nasty hackys. It includes deboned chicken and turkey as well as vitamins and minerals to support skin and coat health. And a precise blend of natural fibers to help move those hairballs thru da digestive tract. This formula touts supporting whole body health and well being. At this time it appears to only come in kibble form. It’s available in 3 sizes and runs from about $12.00 to $34.00. As you know we don’t eat kibble here, but this could make a helpful treat.

Me has to go get some brushin’ and play in now. You know, gotta keep those hairballs at bay. Me’s joinin’ Rascal and Rocco fur da weekly Pet Parade.

Today would have been sis Lexi’s 17th birthday. It’s hittin’ mommy purretty hard. We’re also havin’ some storms, so we’ll be ’round to visit soon, but purrobably not today. But we would like fur you to ‘member sissy today and smile. She brought so much luv and happiness to mommy, me and so many of you, and she deserves to be remembered.

Happy Birthday to angel Lexi in a heavenly frame with wings

Did Somebody Say Rabbit #ChewyInfluencer

Meowllo Monday. You can’t get me down today, cuz me has some great treats to tell everypawdy about. As pawrt of da Chewy.com bloggin’ family me gets to try lots of great products dat me might not otherwise get to try. And da treats me’s gonna be tellin’ ya’ ‘bout today is just one of those things.

Dezi looks coyly from the cat tree

Me’s told you lots of times dat me’s favorite treats be of da Freeze Dried nature, so we were really excited to see Halo Liv-a-Littles as an offering this month. Me luvs their chicken breast. So delicious. Anyways, mommy thought it would be good to mix it up and give me da chance to try another furmula. We learned real quick when me changed to a freeze dried diet dat me luvs rabbit. Not da pet bunnies kinda rabbit, but da “wascally wabbits” kind of rabbit. So me couldn’t wait to give these Liv-a-Littles Farm Raised Rabbit a try.

Dezi rubbing the Halo Liv-a-Littles treat jar

Halo Liv-a-Littles are grain free and farm raised. They come in a 2.4 oz. jar and da rabbit costs $8.94. Da ingredients are: Rabbit, Salt and mixed tocopherols (preservative). There are five different flavor choices. They are little squares and mommy says they’re too hard to “break” or crumble. Because they’re basically rabbit they’re good fur both cats and doggies. So ifin you share your home with a woofie, no need to buy different treats. And remember. they be 100% grain free.

Dezi eats a Halo rabbit treat

So what did da actual taste test reveal? Well mommy worried when she took da furst treat out and couldn’t break it up into smaller pieces. Fur a big kitty me likes little bitty bites. MOL But mommy offered me a bite of rabbit and me eagerly took it and started to chew. Me repositioned and chewed some more and finally broke it up. Me spit out half of it and continued to chew up and swallow da other half. And then me asked fur another piece. Yeah me knows me still had half a piece on da floor, but it was all wet and slobbery and me wanted a fresh piece. Me’s not spoiled one bit. Two paws up from me. They could be a little softer or crumblier, but all in all they be yummy. Mommy, what do you think ‘bout da Halo Liv-a-Littles Farm Raised Rabbit Treats?

 Dezi eats Halo rabbit treat

Well Dezi I was very happy that you ate them, or at least some of them. Thankfully Buddy doesn’t mind your left over dried up slobbered on treats, so the part you didn’t eat didn’t go to waste and he liked them as well as you did. Buddy gives them 2 paws up as well. The rabbit formula is not good for crumbling over other foods as an enticement and doesn’t seem to reconstitute in water very well, so they have to be eaten in their current cubed form. They don’t have the stench some rabbit products do so that’s a plus. All in all,I’m glad you liked them, so I give them a thumb up.

Fanks mommy. And me’s glad Buddy got to try them too. Even ifin they were me’s slobbered on left overs. Chewy has lots of great foods, treats, toys and everything you need fur your furry family member so paw on over and check it out. They offer speedy free shipping on all orders of $49.00 and over and flat rate shipping on all other orders.
