That Chair Moves…

Hey Dezi since we are going to run a series about the training we received to become Service cats for mommy, I was thinking maybe we should tell the story of when mommy got her first wheelchair. Even tho’ that story would really be about Lucky. what do you think?

Me thinks that’s a great idea sissy. Me never gets tired of hearing your stories ‘bout Lucky. And mommy thought it was a good idea fur her to type out our dictation in mostly human speak so that if somebody needs it translated to a different language they can. And those that have a little trouble reading our regular posts can understand everything. These training stories are impurrtant and serious. That’s not to mean that they aren’t sometimes funny cuz we can be characters, but they’re serious cuz what we learned is real and is meant to help our mommy live an independent life.

Yep Dezi you’re right. And I’ve gotta tell ya’ your training was probably the most fun of all mommys service cats. But we’ll get to those stories soon. Today I’ll tell ya’ ‘bout mommys first ever wheelchair and my then Meezer brofur Lucky.

It was a really really long time ago. I was still practically a kitten at 3 years old. My brofur Lucky was a whole 28 days older than me so we were both still big kittens. That seems like a lifetime ago now but it’s still clear in this old girls mind. Anyways one morning a man came to our apartment and brought mommy a new chair. This wasn’t like any other chair she had, it moved. Mommy could put this chair anywhere she wanted in the house including the kitchen all without lifting a finger or breaking a sweat. It sure did look scary cuz mommy wasn’t vey good at steering it and she kept running into walls and doors and tables and well generally anything that was in her way. Lucky and I had to watch our tails or she might have run over them too. (she would have never done that)

Lucky and I meowed ‘bout it a little and thought that this new chair was going to be a great help for mommy except…If her driving was this bad while she was mobile then just what was it gonna be like in the mornings when she couldn’t actually move?, Oh kittens were we ever in for a surprise. Lucky seemed to be really interested in the workings of this chair and would hop up in it when it was still and when mommy was just sittin’ in it. We both loved mommy so much and our favorite place was (and still is) in her lap. Well Lucky would get in mommys lap and then rub his face on the joystick and put his mouth on it and push at it. So a light bulb went off in mommys head and she put Luckys paw on a button on the arm of that moving chair and pushed it down. It beeped at him and he turned and looked at mommy fur reassurance but he didn’t jump down. So mommy did it again and again until Lucky was pushing the button on his own. We found out that button was the power and turned that moving chair on and off.

It wasn’t long before Lucky would push that button all on his own even without mommy askin’ him too. And then he went and pushed the button and put his mouth on the joy stick and bit it. When he did that, it pushed the joystick forward and the chair moved. Well he quickly pulled his mouth away from the joystick and looked up. Mommy said his face said it all. He wasn’t sure whether to be proud or terrified.

Yeah Dezi I magine that’s exactly what happened to Lucky. But he was so happy to be in mommys lap that he didn’t move. Mommy took full advantage of his love and gently put Luckys mouth back on the joystick and gently pushed so the chaiir moved a little more. He got scared and wanted down. So mommy gave him a big hug and kiss and told him how pawsum he was and put him down. He scampered off to hide. He didn’t go far tho’ and he kept his eye on mommy when she went looking for me. This whole thing had scared da bajeebuzz outta me and I had hid under the covers on the bed. I thought fur sure there was no way mommy would be able to find me. Somehow she seemed to know the bump in the bed was me, and she grabbed me up and loved all over me while taking me to the chair.

First thing we did was go fur a ride. Hey, this isn’t as scary as I thought it was gonna be. It’s actually kind of fun. I could even see the countertop from mommys lap in the kitchen where she prepared our meals. I got to thinking this might not be so bad after all. So when mommy repeated the steps she took with Lucky on me, I soaked it all in. I was driving in no time at all. I wasn’t any better than mommy, but I was driving. MOL Okay, really I was kinda scared and wanted down right away. And it did take a week fur me to get used to the chair being around. But once I got used to it, I learned really fast. Mommy said so. She also said she was very proud of Lucky and me. Back then we didn’t have a working camera much less a video camera. There was a whole year mommy didn’t get to take photos of any kind of Lucky and me. She hates that, but there’s nothing she can do ’bout it now. Except to tell you to take as many photos as you can and don’t delete anything. Buy those little thumb drives or external hard drives or whatever you must to store them on, but you will regret throwing photos away. (mommys PSA fur the day)

Y’all were so brave sissy. The chair sure scared me at first. Meez so glad y’all were able to learn to drive the chair and help mommy.

Me too Dezi. And I’m glad that even tho’ it scared you, you were able to overcome that fear and help mommy too.

Yeah Lexi it’s really not that scary and knowing that me is helping mommy is the best feeling ever. We’ll be telling more training stories ‘bout Lexi and me. These stories altho’ true are not meant to be a training handbook or guide. Countless hours, weeks, and months of repetition went into our training and we couldn’t possibly cover every minute. Hear Ye, Here Ye

What a mumff it’s been alweady. And there’s still so much more to come. We gave away a pawsum Pagoda water fountain and today weez announcin’ da winner of da case of Weruva TruLuxe noms. so stay tuned cuz dat announcement will be a little furv-ver down. Cuz we gotta tell ya sumfin’ else furst. As ya’ know weez met da amazin’ Weruva team at BlogPaws where sis Lexi discovered hers favowit noms and da big fwiller was dat meez liked ‘em too. So weez kept in contact wiff ‘em when we got home and they let us have a give away. And…they sent us a pawsum goodie box just fur us. Well not just fur us, you know they sent mommy a few goodies too. Was dat not just da sweetest fing ever? We sure fawt so. As any good Suddener wuld say…Bless their hearts. So yous wuld fink dat all dat was where it ended and was wepurrsentative of a gweat mumff wight?

Well it ain’t!!! Cuz guess what weez got fwum Chewy.com this mumff to weview? Yep yous guessed it, A case of BFF (Best Feline Friend) noms made by nun udder than…Weruva. OMC Awe we sum blest and lucky kitty girls or what?!!! Well we fawt da day we announced da winner of our TruLuxe give away wuld be da purrfect day to weview da BFF. So here goes. We weceived a case of 8) 5.5 ounce variety pack of da BFF canned noms. They also come in pouches and da 3 ounce cans. Weruva says: These furmulas all have red meat Tuna as da base ingwedient. Purrotein packed, low fat and highly palatable. All da cans but one awe topped wiff one udder meat purrotein, like boneless, skinless white bweast chicken, etc. So ifin yous have a tuna luvver in yous house this just might be da noms fur you. Well fur yous kitty me means. Altho’ Weruva uses only human gwade ingwedients and is purrduced in a human food purrocessin’ facility. So how duz da BFF line fair in our house yous ask? As you know weez not eat much fish, so weez not had much tuna ever.

We found da “extwa toppings” to be a little lackin’. A few shweds of chicken or udder purrotein was all so weez not weally call dat a topping. But it was nice to have a little sumfin’ udder than plain tuna. We ate it but only after mommy added sum of da Weruva chicken fwum da Cats in da Kitchen line or sum pumpkin’ fwum their pumpkin pouches. We gave a can to our pal Buddy and hims luvved it and licked hims bowl clean. So sis Lexi and me give it 4 paws each cuz we did eat it, and we like da companies philosoffy, and use of gweat ingwedients. We also luv dat they list wight on their website all da analysis tables dat mommy needs to check fur feedin’ sis Lexi. And da BFF line is less costly than da udder lines of Weruva noms. Buddy gave it a 4 paws and a tail up. Hims luvved da tuna.

So what ‘bout mommy, is she gunna give it a fumm up? Mommy what do you say ‘bout da BFF noms?

Well honey, the phosphorous levels in the whole line are pretty good. And surprisingly the ash levels are fairly low for a tuna fish food. I love the companies philosophy and that they use human food processing facilities and standards. Another advantage is the price point. It allows for buying a high quality food at an affordable price. I would have liked to see more of the other proteins in the can, but overall I would give it a thumb up. As you said, y’all did eat it and it meets the guidelines I’ve set for feeding Lexi.

Blest Sunday, Thankful Sunday

It’s anuvver Blest Sunday here at our house and hopefully at yous house too. We do luv our Blest Sunday postys but this one be extwa special cuz we be fankin’ all of ya’ dat helped get sissy hers antibiotics to get better. We told ya’ yesfurday all ‘bout how and when da UTI stawrted and dat cuz of so many givin’ gween papers to da fundraiser fur Lexi’s medical care we was able to get hers antibiotics. And today weez wanna purrsonally fank you all. Wiffout you sissy wuld at da very least still be sufferwin’ and in pain. But kitties can and do die fwum complications of a Urinary Tract Infection. Mommy has lost 2 kitties dat way and was terwified she was gunna lose sis Lexi too. So yous will never twuly know how fankful we awe.

Caturday Art Updates

It’s Caturday and weez chillin’ and getting’ sum much needed rest. When sissy got sick last week nopawdy slept. She kuldn’t stay outta da pawdee box and me didn’t know what to fink and well all mommy kuld do was cwy and purray. Not haviin’ gween papers to help sissy was tearin’ at mommys heart. And then came da night when it got weally bad. Sissy was runnin’ to da pawdee box so offen she shulda just stayed there. And then she wuld lay down to “clean” hers ouchy, cuz youz know it hurt, and wuld hold hers leg up a little and nuffin’ but blood wuld seep out. Mommy put piddle pads on da bed and unnew neaff her and she didn’t even move. Mommy was cwyin’ and me was wipin hers tears wiff meez paws and in tween pawdee box visits sis Lexi was still twyin’ to give mommy head massages. And dat wuld make mommy cwy even hawrder. Cuz there sissy was bein ‘bout as sick as a kitty can get, but still twyin’ to work and take care of mommy. Ifin dat ain’t da epitome of a Service animal me dusn’t know what is.

So da next meownin’ fwu a face full of tears and a heart dat was bweakin’ into itty bitty pieces, mommy cweated a YouCaring fundraiser fur Lexi’s care. We owe da VET fur our wecent visits and till they be paid off weez can’t go back. And it had become evident dat hims wasn’t even takin’ our calls cuz nopawdy had ever called us back when mommy called in ‘bout me bein’ so sick after dat rabies vaccine. Yes, da VET is all bout da gween papers and yes, we need a new one, but da sad fing is dat all da VETs in our awea be da same way. And wiffout gween papers to pay them, weez can’t go see anypawdy new eever. So anyways, after mommy made da funraiser she posted it and shared it. Not too long after a few donations came in. Mommy had alweady checked da purrices of antibiotics online so when there was enuff gween papers to cover da cost of them mommy took da chance and called our VETs office. They had all gone home fur da day even tho’ it wasn’t even 5 o’clock. Turns out dat was da bestest fing dat kulda happened fur us. Cuz when mommy called da VETs emergency cell fone, he actually called hers back.

He was quite purrterbed and sed hims was dealin’ wiff a furmily emergency and what did mommy want. She told hims she had hers own emergency and splained what was goin’ on wiff sissy. So he abwutly sed, “I guess you want me to call in some antibiotics, huh?” Mommy weplied in da affurmative and hims chose da most spensive fawmacy wound and then called in da most spensiv antibiotic hims kuld and told them we kuldn’t have da generwic. Mommy be fwugal and wulda purrfured da generic so as to make da gween papers go furver cuz sissy will still have ongoin’ medical due to da CKD, but in this instance there was nuffin’ mommy kuld do ‘bout it and she just wanted Lexi to get sum weal medicine. It had been stowrmin’ like cwasy here fur da last kupple days and it was pourwin’ wain when mommy and me left fur da fawmacy. Weez got to twy out da stwoller raincoat cover and it worked. Mommy was so fwazzled hers didn’t get any fotos, but weez sure weez’ll have to use it again. sumday and hopefully da next time will be unnew better circumstances and mommy will get fotos. Anyways, we got da medicine and headed home. Once home mommy gave sis Lexi hers furst dose.

Not even 30 minutes later she fwu it up. Mommy gave hers anudder dose and fixed us our dinner. Fankfully sissy kept down da next dose and each dose since then. And fankfully she’s on da road to wecoverwy. Ain’t dat wight sissy?

Youz rite Dezi, I’z feelin’ much better now. I’z kant faynk youz awl enuff fur helpin’ mommy to git me sum medzin. I’z kant say dat I’z likez da medzin or how it tayztz, but I’z taykin’ it like a good gerl and feelin’ better ebberday. Mommy had planz too mayk a grayt video faynk you fur awl ov ya’, but az iz paw fur da korz, I’z not beez koe-aw-purraytin’. Mommy sez datz awlwayz a good sign dat I’z feelin’ good. Afur I’z gawdid sick wiv diz UTI minez CKD wuz purrettee staybull soz mommy hoepz too git me back der. Mommy sed shez will leeb da fundrayzer up cuz minez CKD medzinz still habz too beez bawt on a reguler baysiz and minez speshul nomz too. And I’z gunna needz mower VET vizitz and blood steelin’. Weez’ll beez poeztin’ a Faynk You too-marrow on owr Blezt Sunday poezt.

Meez so happy you’s feelin’ better sissy, and me knows mommy is too.
