Blest Sunday: Purrayer Changes Things

Raena, STOP!!! Don’t Touch Me!!! Me doesn’t feel good.

Blest Sunday purple kitty clip art graphic

So, I’s don’t feel so good mine’s self.

Dezi watches Raena atop the Liberty cat tree

Then stop it and let’s just lay down and have some quiet time.

But sissy, mommy says ifin ya’ don’t feel good, you should keep doin’ your normal stuffs and it’ll help make ya’ feel better. And ‘sides, mommy’s been layin’ hands on us and purrayin’ over us a lot.

Yep Raena, we’re blest to have a mommy who luvs us so much. Bet me’s tummy and hiney-bo still hurts.

Why do ya’ reckon we’re sick sissy?

Dezi sniffs the Yeowww nip toys

How should me know Raena. Does me look like the all seein’ eye or somethin’?

What’s an all seein’ eye sissy?

It’s just a…Oh, never mind. Mommy’s looked all over the house and checked everythin’ we could have pawssibly eaten over the last week, or gotten into, and can’t find anythin’ that should have caused us both to get the runny runs. Least not this bad. Me’s so tired of havin’ me’s bloomers cleaned. Me could go the rest of me’s life and never miss that.

 Raena lays on chair back

You sure do sound mean when mommy’s helpin’ ya’ get that stinky runny stuffs off your furs sissy. I’s never heard such growlin’ and hissin’ in all mine’s life. I’s don’t think you’ve ever hissed at me quite that bad.

Well, it hurts. Me’s hiney-bo is so sore that even the Charmin feels like sandpaper. Me just hopes all this stops soon or mommy’ll be packin’ us off to the VET.

Raena lays on the floor and looks at the camera

The VET!!! No Way!!! I’s never wanna go back there again!!! Ya’ know what sissy? I’s bet ifin we were to ask all our amazin’ furiends to join mommy in purrayin’ fur us, we’d be feelin’ better in no time.

Me bets you’re right Raena. We have the mostest pawsumest furiends in the universe. They luv and care ‘bout us enuff that me’s sure they’d purray fur us. Mommy says fankfully, we’re still eatin’ and drinkin’ normally, and while we might not be up to zoomin’ thru the house, we’re still actin’ a bit playful. She’s not seen any parasites on us or in our litterbox depawsits, so she can only deduce that somethin’ has really upset our tummy tum tums. ‘Specially since both of us are havin’ the same issues.

Raena lays in mommy's lap for some lap loving time

That’s true sissy. But, I’s just know we’re gonna feel better soon. When we woke up today mr. sunshine was smilin’ down on us and the weather’s startin’ to cool off a bit. With our furiends joinin’ mommy in purrayer, we can only get better.

Dezi lays in chair and looks pretty

Me believes ya’ Raena. Each day is a blessing even when we’re a little under the weather. We’re so blest to have a luvvin’ mommy, great furiends, an amazin’ furever home and yummy noms. We wanna remind everypawdy to take a minute today and every day to give thanks fur the blessings in your lives. Even when you feel like you’re livin’ under a rain cloud in the dark, you are blest.

Dezi rolls around on the Yeowww nip heart

So true sissy. Every breath we take is a blessing. Now, let’s try to pose fur selfie or two so we can link up with the Kitties Blue fur Sunday Selfies. And, maybe you’ll feel up to playin’ fur a bit? Wha’d’ya’ say sissy, wanna go play with our Yeaowww nip toys?

Hydrating Your Best Feline Friend

Hey, is anypawdy out there? It’s Me, RaenaBelle. Kittens!!!  Have we been busy or what?.

Dezi and Raena bathe atop the Liberty cat tree

What are you meowin’ ‘bout Raena?

Well sissy, me was meowin’ ‘bout how busy we’ve been. Ya’ know, tryin’ out all the new noms and stuffs?.

Yeah Raena, that has been fun. We do enjoy tryin’ new things. Weruva contacted us ‘bout their new impurroved gravy luvver’s line a while back. Knowin’ how much we luv gravy, mommy said we’d luv to give those noms a try.

This is a sponsored post. We received the Weruva B.F.F. noms in exchange for our honest review. As always, we tell it like we see it. Weruva isn’t responsible for the opinions in this post unless otherwise stated. No money changed paws. We only bring products we have tried or use and think would be of interest to you, our readers and friends.

 Raena checks out Weruva

Sure ‘nuff sissy. In honor of International Cat day which just passed and Healthy Cat Month which takes place next month, we thought this would be the purrfect time to purrticipate with Weruva’s launch of the all new B.F.F. line that will be Gluten, Grain and Carrageenan Free. The B.F.F. stands fur Best Feline Friend. We’re fur sure mommy’s bestest furiends, feline or not. And, you know how much all our pawrents worry ‘bout ingredients and us gettin’ purr-opurr nutrition. And cat pawrents go a step further and worry ‘bout whether or not us kitties are gettin’ enuff water/hydration.

 Raena checks out Weruva

Yep Raena, and me’s here to tell ya’ that not drinkin’ enuff can sure lead to some painful purroblems, like UTI’s (Urinary Tract Infections). But, as anypawdy who has a kitty knows, we can be a finicky bunch. So, not only should our food be nutritional and balanced, it better taste good, or else we won’t touch it with a ten foot pole. Anyways, Weruva sent us a great little variety pack to try out. Unfurtunately, it was delivered to one of our neighbors who happened to be in the hospital so we didn’t get it till this week. Once we got the noms, mommy and you purrceeded to check ‘em all out. As everypawdy knows, mommy doesn’t let us have any kibble. It’s full of unnecessary carbs our feline bodies can’t purrocess and can contribute to obesity and those painful UTI’s.

Raena checks out the WEruva

Not to worry sissy. The B.F.F line is over 85% hydration, what with all that gravy and such. Weruva also claims that each can/pouch contains shreds/chunks/bites of real meat protein that will entice and be appealing to our taste buds. Cats in the wild, and our big cat cousins get most of their hydration from the food they eat; so a kitty eatin’ dry kibble is missin’ out on that much needed hydration. The B.F.F. line comes in cans and pouches and sizes ranging from 2.8 ounces to 5 ounces. And they have both sea proteins and land proteins.

 Weruva BFF cat food

That’s a good thing too Raena, cuz we don’t purrticularly like the sea purroteins. So, the furst plate we tried was Selfie Cam, chicken and lamb dinner in gravy. Check out the ingredients list offured by Weruva:

INGREDIENTS:

Chicken Broth, Chicken, Lamb, Tuna, Potato Starch, Guar Gum, Calcium Lactate, Tricalcium Phosphate, Choline Chloride, Taurine, Zinc Sulfate, Vitamin E Supplement, Thiamine Mononitrate (Vitamin B1), Niacin Supplement (Vitamin B3), Calcium Panthotenate, Vitamin A Supplement, Potassium Iodide, Manganese Sulfate, Riboflavin Supplement (Vitamin B2), Pyridoxine Hydrochloride (Vitamin B6), Ferrous Sulfate, Copper Sulfate, Vitamin D3 Supplement, Folic Acid, Vitamin B12 Supplement, Menadione Sodium Bisulfite Complex (Source of Vitamin K)

Dezi eating Wysong Archetype

Now, as you all know our mommy checks out any ingredient she can’t purrnounce or doesn’t know ‘bout. So, she’s not happy ‘bout the source of Vitamin K, but said it was okay to try out the noms this time. The gravy tasted purretty good. At least good enuff fur 2 paws up. what ‘bout you Raena?

 Raena eats Weruva

Well sissy, I’s wouldn’t really know ‘bout the gravy since you ate most of it. But the lamb bites were okay and what little gravy I’s did get was good. I’s didn’t care too much fur the second one we tried with all the punkin’ pieces. But overall, I’s good with givin’ ‘em 2 paws up too. As sissy said, the Vitamin K source is somethin’ mommy tries to avoid, so the B.F.F. won’t be a staple in our house, but mommy did say we could have some on occasion.

 Raena eats wet food

Hydration is so ‘purrtant fur us kitties that our humans must offen go to great lengths to make sure we get enuff. Adding a high quality wet food to your kitty’s diet is a great way to help keep kitty hydrated and chase away those nasty UTI’s. Don’t furget to check out the Weruva website and the new B.F.F. line of noms fur your favorite Best Feline Friend. I’s hear a nip toy callin’ mine’s name.

Chatting Cats: Where’s My Bite

MeOW  Raena, What are you doin’?

Raena eats treats on the Liberty cat tree

Uh, Who? Me? Uh, I’s just havin’ a little turkey tom lurkey. You know, mommy had another dentist ‘pointment yesfurday to get somethin’ called a soft liner in her new teethies. Seems she’s had trouble keepin’ ‘em in her mouth, and this soft liner stuff’s s’posed to help with that.

Dezi lays atop the liberty cat tree

Yeah, me knows ‘bout the ‘pointment Raena, but where’d the turkey tom lurkey come from? Me knows you didn’t get it at the dentist office.

You’re right sissy. But wouldn’t that be fun. Mommy says when she was little, the dentists always gave her a sucker after her ‘pointments. She’d get a long lecture ’bout eatin’ candy and how that was the reason she was losin’ a tooth, and then he’d go and give her a choice of suckers. Seems kind’a crazy, but I’s guess it assures him of future business. MOL  Anyways, right next door to the dentist office is an Arby’s. After talkin’ with a furiend who’s goin’ thru the exact same thing as mommy, and findin’ out he was able to eat a steak sammich and a pizza, mommy decided to give that sammich thing a try. Arby’s has these sammiches called sliders, that only cost a dollar ‘tween the hours of 2 and 5, so mommy said we just had to make a stop. But, we had to wait till we got back home to have any cuz mommy wanted to make sure we both got some.

Well then, where’s me’s bite? Did you already eat it up?

Raena sits on small perch at door

Who? Meeeee? Nah, that wasn’t me sissy. Maybe we have a kitty ghost or somethin’.

Dezi lays in the house on the Liberty cat tree

Me thinks you did. But, that’s okay, me saw what ya’ll brought home the other day, and me purrfurs that to Arby’s turkey tom lurkey any day. Mommy had bought one of those tv dinners with turkey tom lurkey bites and was able to chew them up. She got purretty x’cited ‘bout that and then saw that turkey breasts were on sale at the grocery store fur $4.99. ‘Course, mommy headed fur the grocery store where she discovered they weren’t actually $4.99, but $4.99 a pound. So, mommy bought another bag of taters instead.

Raena scratches on the butterfly cat scratcher

Yep sissy, I’s know mommy has to be getting’ tired of taters, but there’s no way she was payin’ $5.00 a pound fur anythin’. But then, one of our angels sent mommy some green papers and told her to go get one of those breasts. So, we went back to the store and mommy found a different turkey tom lurkey fur less green papers. I’s tried to tell her to get the biggest one they had, but she said the one she picked out would be purrlenty fur the three of us. But, when we got home, mommy put him in the freezer. She said we had to wait till after she got that soft liner fur her teethies, and a weekend, when ‘lectric purrices were cheaper befur she’d be cookin’ him up.

Ya’ know what that means don’t ya’ Raena? We’re havin’ turkey tom lurkey this weekend. Me can’t wait.

Me either. In the meantime, I’s’ll be happy to finish mommy’s sammich. Seems it’s still too early fur mommy to be bitin’ anythin’. Anyways, what did you do while mommy and me were gone yesfurday?

Me took a nice long peaceful nap. Till the sky started grumblin’ that is. Me’s so tired of all these storms. Me was so glad to see ya’ll come walkin’ thru the door. Me was worried what with ya’ll bein’ out in the storms and all.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaw fanky fank you sissy. We worried ‘bout you bein’ home alone too.

Dezi atop the Liberty Cat tree

Me’s glad to hear you were at least thinkin’ ‘bout me Raena. But, me does enjoy me’s alone time…well, sometimes me does. That sammich does smell good. Let’s go ask mommy fur a few more bites and try to visit some of our furiends befur the storms roll in again.

Service Cats: Basic Training Continues

MeOWww Everypawdy, me’s back. You give that Raena an inch and she’ll take a mile. MOL  Anyways, we got a lot of questions after our last Service Cat Monday posty with concerns ‘bout li’l ole me. Furst, me wants to fank you all fur your concern; but rest assured, mommy hasn’t cast me aside fur a newer, younger model, namely, RaenaBelle. Me still works every day. Let me get the business outta the way and we’ll meow ‘bout it. The followin’ post will be written in human English fur reader and translator ease. Our Service Cat Monday posts aren’t intended to be an all inclusive Trainin’ Manual but rather Tips, Tricks and Techniques used/developed by mommy thru her many years of animal trainin’, cats in purrticular. Ifin you have any questions or topics you would like us to cover, purrlease let us know in the comments section or send us an email. When asking behavorial questions, purrlease be as specific as pawssible. And, ifin you’ve missed any of the posts in this series, you can ketch up by clickin’ the links at the end of this post. Always remember, Training is all ‘bout Repetition and Rewards.

Dezi laying in cat tree in new harness

First, we want to follow up a little about last weeks post. For those of you who might have missed that post, mommy’s wheelchair is broken and unusable right now. None the less, Training continues as always. Awnty Kat from Momma Kat and her Bear Cat said, “I assumed part of the training was knowing what to expect (when Raena does one thing … the chair does this) – like how she might sit different if the chair is going forward. I would assume them learning to expect what the chair will do would cut down on anxiety and surprise when the action does happen.” And, she’s not wrong. However, if the chair doesn’t work, it doesn’t work. Unfortunately wheelchairs are expensive and most people don’t have a spare. Learning what to do when the chair is broken and can’t be used is just as important as learning how to drive the chair.

 Raena lays in the wheelchair

You can see the control panel in this photo. Power button on top,

horn just below and the 2 speed buttons just in front of the joystick.

Remember, there are quite a few steps that have to occur before the wheelchair, even when working properly, will actually move. Believe it or not, the driving is probably the easiest part. After all, pushing the joystick forward is only one step. Seat position, bracing and turning the chair on and off require multiple steps, especially when we can’t read. The control panel contains 4 buttons positioned closely together, Power, Horn and 2 Speed buttons. We kitties are pretty smart, but reading the names of the buttons is a bit beyond our purview. So, it is necessary for us to prove proficiency in turning the chair on and off every day; as well as sitting properly and allowing mommy to brace us. Each button beeps when pushed. This simple step can often be enough to spook a kitty and make them want to jump down and/or run away. We have to become accustomed to the beeps and to fall back to driving position whether the wheelchair moves or not.

 Dezi lays in wheelchair

In our driving position, we must make sure that our back paw claws aren’t digging into mommy’s naked leg; and that we’re comfortable with where she has placed her hand to brace/hold us in position. And, even tho’ the wheelchair isn’t going to move right now, we must show that we know to bite the joystick and push it after powering the wheelchair on. These are basic steps and the first steps we learn. Each kitty learns at a different speed, however, mommy will often focus our initial Wheelchair Training on these steps for at least a month before ever letting us actually propel the chair forward. We like to remind you all that Training is ongoing and doesn’t take breaks or vacations. The truth is, that even when the chair is working properly, whoever doesn’t drive in the morning will be going thru these steps as Training every day.

Raena lays in the wheelchair

We do take turns driving mommy in the mornings, but it’s not like today is me’s turn and tomorrow is yours. Each day, one of us will take up the Driving position, and that’s who drives. We don’t fight over who gets there first, we just kind of have an unspoken agreement, that whoever does, gets to drive. Of course, that’s after we’ve both proven ourselves proficient in driving. When Raena was first learning to drive, it was up to me to actually drive in the mornings. Even when she would take up the Driving position, mommy would give her some extra loving and then move her to the other leg so me could slip in and take the joystick. The rule is, whoever doesn’t drive the morning routine, gets Wheelchair Training that day. Now that we can both drive equally well, we take turns Training on those initial steps each day. Even sis Lexi, the last year of her life, still had regular Training Sessions.

Lexi lays in wheelchair and Dezi climbs on cat tree

Mommy equates Training to an old human saying, “Once you learn to ride a bike, you’ll never forget.” However, if you don’t ride for a while, you’re most likely to be a bit wobbly. You know the steps, but you’re a bit rusty and may even fall a time or two. However, if you ride every day, you’ll keep getting better. The same is true for us. Just because we learn to drive, doesn’t mean we should stop practicing. Remember, Training is all about Repetition and Rewards. Me will be honest and tell you that it is confusing for us when the wheelchair is broken and our morning routine changes, but because of our continual Training, we adapt. We’ll meow more about that next week. In the meantime, me has a basic Wheelchair lesson to perform today. Me’s going to insist on Training first. Raena begs for treats better than me, so if she trains last, we’ll not only get lots of extra love but we just might get a handful of treats too.
