What a mumff it’s been alweady. And there’s still so much more to come. We gave away a pawsum Pagoda water fountain and today weez announcin’ da winner of da case of Weruva TruLuxe noms. so stay tuned cuz dat announcement will be a little furv-ver down. Cuz we gotta tell ya sumfin’ else furst. As ya’ know weez met da amazin’ Weruva team at BlogPaws where sis Lexi discovered hers favowit noms and da big fwiller was dat meez liked ‘em too. So weez kept in contact wiff ‘em when we got home and they let us have a give away. And…they sent us a pawsum goodie box just fur us. Well not just fur us, you know they sent mommy a few goodies too. Was dat not just da sweetest fing ever? We sure fawt so. As any good Suddener wuld say…Bless their hearts. So yous wuld fink dat all dat was where it ended and was wepurrsentative of a gweat mumff wight?

Well it ain’t!!! Cuz guess what weez got fwum Chewy.com this mumff to weview? Yep yous guessed it, A case of BFF (Best Feline Friend) noms made by nun udder than…Weruva. OMC Awe we sum blest and lucky kitty girls or what?!!! Well we fawt da day we announced da winner of our TruLuxe give away wuld be da purrfect day to weview da BFF. So here goes. We weceived a case of 8) 5.5 ounce variety pack of da BFF canned noms. They also come in pouches and da 3 ounce cans. Weruva says: These furmulas all have red meat Tuna as da base ingwedient. Purrotein packed, low fat and highly palatable. All da cans but one awe topped wiff one udder meat purrotein, like boneless, skinless white bweast chicken, etc. So ifin yous have a tuna luvver in yous house this just might be da noms fur you. Well fur yous kitty me means. Altho’ Weruva uses only human gwade ingwedients and is purrduced in a human food purrocessin’ facility. So how duz da BFF line fair in our house yous ask? As you know weez not eat much fish, so weez not had much tuna ever.

We found da “extwa toppings” to be a little lackin’. A few shweds of chicken or udder purrotein was all so weez not weally call dat a topping. But it was nice to have a little sumfin’ udder than plain tuna. We ate it but only after mommy added sum of da Weruva chicken fwum da Cats in da Kitchen line or sum pumpkin’ fwum their pumpkin pouches. We gave a can to our pal Buddy and hims luvved it and licked hims bowl clean. So sis Lexi and me give it 4 paws each cuz we did eat it, and we like da companies philosoffy, and use of gweat ingwedients. We also luv dat they list wight on their website all da analysis tables dat mommy needs to check fur feedin’ sis Lexi. And da BFF line is less costly than da udder lines of Weruva noms. Buddy gave it a 4 paws and a tail up. Hims luvved da tuna.

So what ‘bout mommy, is she gunna give it a fumm up? Mommy what do you say ‘bout da BFF noms?

 

Well honey, the phosphorous levels in the whole line are pretty good. And surprisingly the ash levels are fairly low for a tuna fish food. I love the companies philosophy and that they use human food processing facilities and standards. Another advantage is the price point. It allows for buying a high quality food at an affordable price. I would have liked to see more of the other proteins in the can, but overall I would give it a thumb up. As you said, y’all did eat it and it meets the guidelines I’ve set for feeding Lexi.

Hydrating The Body Pt. 2

Me is so excited about this series on hydration. And just so there won’t be any confusion, today’s post will be in human speak. Me told you all about water and fountains yesterday and the importance of keeping your anipals hydrated. Our bodies are made up of mostly water, 80% to be exact for us kitties. We also talked about how kitties don’t typically drink enough water. Fountains are a great way to get your kitty to drink more water, but that’s not the only way to help your kitty get the hydration he/she needs. Is it mommy?

Wet Food right mommy? Canned food has a much higher water content than kibble and so it helps keep us kitties hydrated. Whereas dry kibble can help to dehydrate us.

 

You’re very right Dezi.

 

That’s why when sissy was diagnosed with CKD and wouldn’t eat, you bought every kind of canned food you could find. huh? And she still wasn’t eating all that well. Right before we left for BlogPaws she was only eating about a tablespoon of food every couple of days. We were so worried about her weren’t we mommy?

 

Yes honey we were. I know her well enough to know that if she could hold on till we could leave she would be much better because she loves to travel so much. And thankfully she was. Although she still didn’t want to eat anything I put in front of her.

Till we came across the Weruva table at Blogpaws and they gave us sum pouches of their wet food to try. Me was so happy when she ate the whole pouch and asked for more

Oh yes Dezi, I was happy too. And before I could even think, I gave Lexi another pouch, and she ate it all up too. Not eating is a common problem in CKD kitties for a variety of reasons. And there is a great debate among CKD cat owners about the diet of a CKD kitty. The prescription diets are low in phosphorous AND protein. These prescription diets are based on a study by one of the largest prescription diet manufacturers and what worked for dogs. And as any cat person will tell you, Cats Are Not Dogs. What works for dogs doesn’t always work for cats. The other side of this coin is the people who believe that cats are obligate carnivores and need protein to survive. This school of thought has several studies as well just not by anyone as prominent as the other study. But this study says that CKD kitties should eat foods that are made of high quality Proteins and low in phosphorous. So after your sister ate 2 more pouches of the Weruva food the next morning I made it a point to see what the dry matter analysis of this food was. At the end of the day it’s more important that your CKD kitty eat than serve the perfect food and have them go hungry; but I was hoping that Weruva would not only be something that Lexi would eat, but that it would also be “good” for her. So off to their website I went.

I had my fingers crossed because often companies don’t include the dry matter analysis at all on their websites and sometimes even those who do, don’t include the phosphorous levels. To my surprise and delight, Weruva lists several analysis tables and includes the phosphorous content prominently. An ideal phosphorous level to feed a CKD kitty is 0.50 or below, but a phosphorous binder can be added to foods above that to make them more appropriate for the CKD kitty. I was thrilled to find that the TruLuxe line was almost completely under 1% and the Steak Frites which is one of the foods that Lexi had tried and loved, was within the limits of what is good for her without any additions. Meaning I could open the can and give it to her and know she was getting the proper nutrition and not worsening her condition. Her other favorites included the Peking Ducken, Quick and Quirky, On the Cat WOk, Chicken Frick A’Zee, and Funk in the Trunk from their original line. And all of these had good levels of phosphorous so no/minimal phosphorous binders were needed to make them suitable for her to eat. And the other big bonus was that picky little you loved them too. So with one purchase I could feed you both and know that you both were getting a good healthy meal suitable to your needs. And I really liked that the food was recognizable as being chicken or beef or duck or whatever. And that the first ingredients on each can after water or broth was the meat (protein) contained within the can or pouch. And it was really nice to see that beef was beef and chicken was chicken and so on. So many companies have “beef, duck, chicken, etc.”, and when you get to the ingredient list there’s no beef or duck in the can at all.

Oh mommy yous so wight. Me sure does like that Chicken Frick A’Zee and so many of the others too. And they even have a pumpkin pouch that me really likes. But me is happiest that sis Lexi has put on some weight eating the Weruva and she’s much happier too. And Weruva gives some of their proceeds to help healthy and treatable animals in shelters. And their foods are made in a human food facility according to the International human food standards. Me and sissy are eating foods that are prepared in the same kind of facility that makes human foods. That’s a great thing because it means the standards are really high.

Spreadin’ the Blessings Sunday

Meowllo and a Blest Sunday to you all.  Weez awe sum very blest kitties to hav all of you in ow lives.  Weez been gettin’ so many pawsum and bootyful Christmas cawds boff fwu da snail mail and email.  Fank you all fur yous wunnewful Holiday wishes.  This is da last Blest Sunday afur Christmas.  And weez so fankful to be togedder and sharin’ ow Christmas wiff you also.

Now fur da pawt yous all been waitin’ fur.  Weez hav a winner fur da 40 pound bag of Multi Cat SwheatScoop.  And awe weez ever gwateful fur random name selectors.  Weez hate to choose ‘tween peeps, so of course we didn’t.  Weez used Random Picker.com. Yesfurday we told you all dat me wuz gunna be playin’ Therapy cat fur da wesidents of da nursin’ home.  It wuz cold outside, let me tell you.  Me wants summer back.  Anyways, we had planned on takin’ a foo fotos, but we didn’t know da purrivacy rules.  Weez wun’t allowed to take and post fotos of da wesidents wiffout welease forms bein’ signed by them or their power of attorney.  Well this wuz ow first year goin’ and bloggin’.  Anyways, we had a good time and most of them seemed to enjoy meez visit.

And us Cat Scouts had a gweat time at da Norff Pole wiff Santa.  It wuz just a one day twip, but we got to see so much.  Dat Sammy is a gweat twip planner.  Me can’t wait to see what hims got planned fur da nex time.  Altho’ mommy sez she hopes we get a bit of rest and awe fwu twip takin’ till after da first of da year. MOL

Well it seems Blogger has a new captcha.  All of us hoo visit and leave comments on da blogger postys know dat weez been havin’ to “purrove” weez not robots fur a gazillion years days now.  And most of us hav typists dat awe a bit ‘older’ and their eyes not be what they once wuz.  In ow case dat has meant dat on da blogs we fell behind on, stead of commentin’ on all da back postys. weez just comment on da latest post, or ifin one of da udder ones needs a comment more.  So anyways, this meownin’ when weez got to ow first blogger bloggy, there wuz actuall and little box dat sed “prove yous not a robot”.  After clickin’ it it kicks out a nummew or word dat be a lot easier to read than da old ones, but still nummews and words.  After yous enter dat then yous click o to verufy and then da puter checks not a robot and yous can now publish yous comment.  OMC  will it ever end?!!! And ifin yous a blogger blog and didn’t get a comment fwum us, sorry, weez musta been in robot mode when we visited yous bloggy.  Cuz even tho’ they be more legible, they’re still a little hawd to see fur mommys old tired eyes . MOL

Anyways, yous didn’t come by today to hear ‘bout da captchas now did ya’.  So da udder day we wuz hangin’ out just like every udder day when da mail lady came to da door bwingin’ us a package.  Me can tell ya’ dat we knew wight off it wuz fur us.  We kuld smell it.  Mommy’s one of those open everyfin’ ever so gently as not to rip da package, so Lexi and me sat there ever so im patiently.  Then mommy pulled da contents out and put da package on da floor.  Lexi and me boff stawted rollin’ wound like cwazy on dat package.  And then mommy held up a baggy…and OMC  Yous know weez heard dat Canadian nip wuz outta this world, but let me tell ya’ da rumors AWE twu!!!  Sis Lexi and me boff went to rubbin’ dat baggy.  Mommy wuz laffin’ at us.  And she finally scooped sum of dat Canadian NIP outta dat baggy and onto a kupple toys.  Oh dat stuff is soooooo good.  Fank you Shoko and Kali, weez weally happy kitty girls.  Mommy had to stash dat nip outta ow reach or els we wulda had it all over da place and owselves.  So nipped out me ‘cided to purractice meez zoomies.

Well as you all know we hav new floors.  They not be like da old tile ones at all.  And when me came runnin’ up da hall towards mommy hoo wuz standin’ there lookin’ at me twyin’ to “put on da bweaks”.  Me musta slid a biilion feet or at least it felt like it.  First meez hand paws slid apawt and meez back paws came purrpellin’ forward and meez hiney dwopped onto da floor.  Me wuz squirmin’ and twyin’ to stop.  And suddenly me turned sideways.  Sis Lexi hoo had been layin’ in a nip haze in da livin’ room got up to see da commotion dat mommy wuz laffin’ at, and me slid wight into her.  Hers paws wuz knocked out fwum underneaf hers and me finally came to a stop.  Now me can’t actually see meez own face, but mommy sed me had eyes big as saucers.  Altho’ me didn’t actually plan on dat happenin’ it wuz kinda fun.  heehehe
