Tell It All Tuesday: Word Trickery

Hey, is anypawdy out there? It’s me, RaenaBelle. That stinkin’ lawn crew came thru and jolted me outta bed again this meownin’. Hmmmpht  I’s climbed over mommy and onto the vanity beside the bed where I had to maneuver the fone, alarm clock, humidifier, a small jewelry box, a couple of cat figurines, a candle lamp, and a salted night light to get to the bedroom window so I’s could give them a piece of mine’s mind. And wouldn’t you know it, they acted like they couldn’t hear me at all. No matter how much I’s shook mine’s paws at ‘em, they just kept bangin’ into the bedroom wall. Y, They hit the wall so hard they almost knocked me off the window sill. I’s climbed back over to mommy to help her get up and to the pawty so she could open the door and let me at ‘em.

Dezi scratches cat scratcher while looking at the camera

(Dezi meows from under the bedPurrlease Raena, the lawn crew can’t even see you, they fur sure don’t care what you have to say ‘bout ‘em.

Raena sniffs the Made in the USA goody box from Chewy

Maybe not sissy, but it makes me feel better to get it off mine’s furry chest. Did you see the manager walkin’ ‘round takin’ fotos? Oh yeah I’s furgot, you can’t see anythin’ from UTB (under the bed). Anyways, mommy’s so tired of all this nonsense that when the mean manager lady came up on our purrch, mommy opened the door and asked her just what she was doin’. She gave mommy some story ‘bout takin’ fotos of all the leaves the leaf blowin’ man didn’t blow away. He makes mommy mad too, cuz he purr-pussly blows the leaves at and unner our door every week. It makes a mess that mommy has to clean up. I’s heard the mean manager tell mommy the lawn crew was paid $10,000.00 a year fur 3 months worth of work that they don’t actually do a very good job of. Anyways, I’s thought we might meow a little ‘bout the Made in the USA goody box we got from Chewy. C’mon out, the lawn crew’s gone.

Oh Raena, me ‘members the last Goody box we got. It was really great. We had high expectations fur this box too. Let’s see what Chewy has to say ‘bout it.

Dezi and Raena check out the Made in the USA goody box from Chewy

We got our box and couldn’t wait to open it. You know, lots of really great things are made here in America, and we’d already been dreamin’ ‘bout what might be inside.

Yeah Raena, we could’a saved ourselves a little time ifin mommy had realized we were gettin’ exactly what they showed in the foto and not some other surpurrises. Our box had a package of Instinct Raw Boost Mixers, The Missing Link supplement, 2 packets of Natural Balance Cat Food, Blue Buffalo Cat Treats, 2 cans of Dr. Elsey’s Clean Protein noms and a soy candle fur the house in lavender.

Dezi sits with Instinct Mixers

Yeah sissy the candle smelled a bit like the groomin’ depawrtment at the pet store. Lavender makes mommy’s eyes itch so we gave it away to a furiend who could enjoy it. And, we’ve tried the Instinct Raw Boost mixers befur, so we’ll eat those up in no time.

Dezi poses with the Missing Link

And mommy says she used to give that Missing Link supplement to sis Lexi. Me thinks it tastes purretty good. Mommy just might have to look into addin’ it to our autoship. Me wouldn’t mind havin’ it again.

I’s like it too sissy. Unfurtunately, that’s where the likin’ stopped. And, we were a little surpurrised to find that the Made in the USA box contained ingredients sourced from somewhere else. Just goes to show, wording can be a little tricky.

Dezi eats treat atop the cat tree

The treats aren’t bad.

Sure ‘nuff Raena. Like that Clean Protein food from Dr. Elseys. Clean Protein’s a new buzz word that the pet food companies are tossin’ ‘round and tryin’ to put on all their packaging. Mommy did some research and learned that one definition meant meat that was grown in a lab and actually pawrt of any animal. So, she called the peeps at Dr. Elseys to try to get more info and was a bit disappointed by the answers she got. Furst of all, Clean Protein here is nuffin’ more than a name. Yep, no lab grown proteins, just a trademarked name. So, mommy asked ‘bout the ingredients, as some don’t come from the USA, and was told all pet food was manufactured in FDA approved facilities under their watchful eye.

Raena eats Kittles treats on the Liberty cat tree

You’re right sissy, the treats are alright.

Well sissy, we all know that’s an outright lie. Needless to say, we’re purretty disappointed in the Dr. Elsey’s peeps and this purrticular Goody Box. With all the toys and treats and foods made here, we really expected better. However, we’re sure there are lots of kitties who would like the purroducts in the box and fur sure luv the box itself. And of course the Goody boxes also come in a couple of different options, and only cost $19.95. So, you’re sure to find one that will make every kitty happy. And you don’t have to worry ‘bout signin’ up fur any subscriptions. ‘Course, there’s nuffin’ wrong with addin’ one to your auto ship every once in a while. After all, us kitties and woofies deserve a special treat once in a while.

We received the Made in the USA goody box in exchange for our honest opinion. As always we tell it like we see it, good, bad or otherwise. We only review products we use or have tried and believe would be of interest to you, our readers and friends.

Once in a while? Hmmmpht  We deserve somethin’ special every day Raena. And chewy has purrlenty of things fur all your pets needs and even a few goodies fur the humans. And their Customer service is great.

Dezi and Raena eat breakfast. Raena tries BFF

That’s true sissy. One thing we did take away from this, was watching out fur the word trickery used in marketing. I’s thinkin’ we might oughtta write a posty ‘bout all the trickery goin’ on in the pet food industry, what d you think sissy? (the house falls silent except for the lapping noise Dezi makes as she eats her breakfast) Guess we’ll meow ‘bout that another time. Let’s wrap this up and go finish brekky.

Have you heard of Clean Protein, and what does it mean to you?

Tell All Tuesday: Sort Of BFF’s try BFF #ChewyInfluencer

Hey everypawdy, it’s me, RaenaBelle. C’mon sissy, we’ve got lots to meow ‘bout today. Includin’ the title of our posty. What’s up with the Sort of? I’s know you’re mine’s BFF, and I’s yours…right? Anyways, the lawn crew’s gone, I’s purromise. (Raena licks her paw and takes a morning bath while sitting on the small perch at the door. Dezi walks into the living room and heads for her breakfast plate when suddenly she hears the blast of the leaf blower on the front porch. She stops in her tracks, flattens to the ground and looks around before running down the hall to the bedroom.)  Sissy!!! Come Back!!!

Raena bathes while laying on the small perch at the door.

You lied Raena!!! You know how mommy feels ‘bout lyin’!!!

I’s did not, sissy. I’s was just playin’ with ya’. You know that mommy won’t let the lawn crew hurt us.

Dezi plays on cat scratcher

You still lied Raena. You know when you meow purromise then you have to meow the truth. Mommy says a purromise means that you can guarantee everythin’ said or meowed is true. And that’s ‘zactly what the Sort of means. Hmmmpht  BFF’s wouldn’t lie to each other.

Fine, sissy. Kittens,  You sure woke up on the wrong side of the bed this meownin’. I’s sorry I’s tricked you. Now, the lawn crew really is gone and we’ve got stuffs we need to do. So, are you comin’ out or not?

Me’s comin’ Raena. What’s so ‘purrtant it just can’t wait?

Seems they all contain tuna. Me thinks mommy needs to get her eyes checked, cuz she didn’t realize that till we got ‘em home. You know us cat bloggers have a purrivate group where we discuss all kinds of issues includin’ foods. Recently, there was a discussion ‘bout fish and whether or not it was actually good fur kitties or not. The discussion was quite heated and divided.

Weruva BFF beef and chicken food on a plate
Beef and Chicken in gravy

That’s always a sign of a good debate, huh sissy?

Usually Raena. We weighed in our thoughts on the subject since we don’t actually like fish. Mommy’s never really fed any kitty fish. She says she purrfurs to feed foods that resemble the types of foods our wild cousins would eat. ‘Course, nopawdy’s sellin’ mouse in a can, so we eat things like rabbit, chicken, deer, etc.. She says very few cats in the wild, includin’ our larger cousins, actually fish. So, mommy decided we oughtta try out the beef and chicken recipe since beef and chicken were the furst 2 ingredients. She hoped it wouldn’t be over run with tuna. Me didn’t care fur the smell, and the “meaty” bits looked kind’a funny. It sure didn’t resemble any beef or chicken we’d ever seen. Me didn’t even wanna try the gravy, which there was more than purrlenty of.

Dezi and Raena eat dinner. Raena tries BFF

Did you taste it yet Raena?

You’ve got that right sissy. There was oodles of gravy. I’s did give it a couple of licks, but it made mine’s mouth greasy. Mommy was actually laughin’ at me when she saw me flickin’ mine’s tongue out and lookin’ cross-eyed at it. Fanky fankfully, mommy had put down a plate of our regular noms. Once I’s furinally got that greasy taste outta mine’s mouth, I’s ate up mine’s whole dinner right then and there. Mommy was so purroud. She said that was the furst time in years she didn’t have to tell me to eat mine’s dinner.

Raena:  Are you even gonna try it sissy?

Dezi: Nah, me’s good Raena. You go ahead.

Yeah Raena, me knows what ya’ mean. But, just cuz we didn’t like it doesn’t mean that lots of kitties out there would. We know several of our furiends that just luv it. Sis Lexi used to like some of the flavors. And, we’ll be passin’ the rest of these off to kitties who need them. And we can enjoy the box they came in. Chewy always has the bestest boxes. And their Customer Service is pawsum.

We received the Weruva BFF variety pack free of charge in exchange for our honest and unbiased opinion. As always, we tell it like we see it. Chatting Cats: Is Pine A Good Cat Litter

Hey everypawdy, it’s me, RaenaBelle. I’s sure hope you all had a pawsum weekend. Things have been a little crazy ‘round here. And not even fur the reasons you might be thinkin’ ‘bout. Let me tell ya’ a little story. It all started a couple months ago when mommy ordered our review items from Chewy. We get asked all the time fur recommendations. Ya’ know the kind, what food is bestest? What litter do you use? And so on. ‘Course, we always tell peeps that we purrfur our natural litter over clay every day of the week and twice on Blest Sundays. Anyways, lots of peeps wanna know why we don’t like clay and even tho’ we don’t, is there one we would recommend over another. So, mommy decided we’d give one of those clay litters a try and she purromptly added it to our normal litter. (Raena shakes her head) Sometimes mommy ain’t the crispest cracker in the box.

Dezi looks at Raena from atop the liberty cat tree

RaenaBelle, what are you meowmblin’ on about?

I’s tryin’ to x’plain what’s been goin’ on ‘round here lately sissy. Ya’ know, with you and the pawtty box? Ya’ know, how you quit usin’ it when mommy added that clay to it.

Dezi looks up at Raena atop the Liberty cat tree

Uh, that might have been the main reason Raena, but it fur sure wasn’t the only reason. Don’t furget to tell everypawdy what a pain you are. Jumpin’ on top of the pawtty box and whappin’ me’s tail while me’s tryin’ to do me’s business. Nopawdy or kitty wants to have your paws unner their hoohaw while they’re goin’ pawtty. Just ask mommy. ‘Member when you tried to stick your paw in the toilet while she was usin’ it?

Frisco pine and corn cat litter,

Anyways sissy, back to mine’s story. (Raena thinks a minute) Actually sissy, ifin ya’ stand at the openin’ with your tail flyin’ ‘round like a flag, you’re just askin’ to get whapped. You know we kitties can’t resist a wavin’ object. Anyways, I’s, bein’ the good girl I’s is, continued to use the pawtty box of course. Even when that nasty stuff ran every where and globbed on mine’s bloomers. I’s could see how frustrated mommy was havin’ to clean your messes several times a day. Fanky fankfully, as soon as mommy got paid this month she bought several jumbo bags of our good litter and completely changed out your favorite box. It took a while, but you furinally started usin’ the pawtty box again. And lo and behold, but what did Chewy offur us this month? More litter. Fanky fankfully, it’s the natural kind we like. You can see that review here. But wait, they also offured another natural litter. See Chewy has their own brand called Frisco. And, they have a natural pine and corn litter that mommy thought we might like, so she ordered a bag. We received a 28 lb. bag of Frisco All Natural Pine and Corn Clumping litter that sells for $20.99, $19.94 ifin it’s on auto ship. Let me tell ya’, it ain’t lightweight in the bag, so be sure ya’ have your muscles ready when it arrives. Let’s see what Chewy has to say ‘bout it.

After recent events, mommy decided not to place this is both of our pawtty boxes right off.

At least she learned from her mistakes, Raena. After all, me might be a little purrticular, but me does purrfur to do me’s business in the appropriate place.

Frisco Pine and corn cat litter

lightweight with some sharp edges

Sure sissy, whatever you meow. I’s heard stories ‘bout when you were a baby kitten and tried to…

RaenaBelle!!! Just get back to the Frisco pine and corn litter. Nopawdy wants to hear your so called stories.

Frisco pine and corn cat litter,

Mommy poured 1/4 cup water in the middle of the bowl. As you

can see, the water ran from the middle and only stopped

because it ran into the sides of the bowl.

I’s bet they do sissy. Wanna bet? Why don’t we ask ‘em?  Anyways, I’s gettin’ off track here. Where was I’s? Oh yeah, after openin’ the bag, which by the way has no way to reseal any unused pawtion, mommy decided not to put the litter in any of our pawtty boxes. It smells kind’a moldy and funky, altho’ we didn’t see any mold and I’s not sure what funk looks like. So, mommy placed some in our handy dandy bowl so we could purrform some tests. You know the ones, what’s the texture, does it make a good clump and is it easy and clean to scoop?.

So, what were the results you ask? Well, it’s dusty as a construction site and has some pointy sticky pieces that might be a little rough on tender paw pads. When mommy poured the 1/4 cup of water over the top, it ran everywhere, kind’a like the clay did. That means it would’a been stickin’ to mine’s bloomers. Not a good thing let me tell ya’. So, we had a clump and some fur mommy to scoop. The main clump started breakn’ apawrt the minute mommy tried to scoop it. You can kind’a see it in the fotos. Mommy overfilled the bowl and it’s really fluffy and lightweight so it kind’a scattered everywhere when she tried to scoop it.

Frisco pine and corn cat litter,

The center clump started breaking the minute it was lifted out of the bowl.

Yep Raena, mommy made a real mess with this one. Me’s sure you were no help bein’ right unner her feet tryin’ to see everythin’. You know, you don’t have to be a pawrt of every little thing that happens.

Frisco pine and corn cat litter,

The dust is so lightweight, it spilled over the top of the bowl during the scooping process.

It’s also a bit staticky and some stuck to the edges of the bowl. Based

on prior experience we know that it would also cling to fur.

Yes I’s do sissy. You never know when mommy might need me. I’s just bein’ a good girl and lettin’ mommy know I’s there to help her any time, any way she needs me. Mommy shouldn’t have to holler fur us and wonder where we are. You know how much she hates that. Mommy’s always sayin’ she likes fur us to be where she can see us and hear us and touch us ifin she wants. I’s just doin’ what mommy wants me to do. She’d like you to do it too, but noooooooo, you were too busy bathin’ on the scratchin’ pad.

Dezi lays on scratcher and licks paw

So what Raena. Me’s sure some of that litter dust got on me. Me didn’t wanna stink like that so me had to hurry and get it off. Mommy could still see me. Ifin she had needed me, me would’a been right there. But, me knew she didn’t need both of us t’ween her legs. Sometimes, your help ain’t very helpful. You just oughtta be glad you’re not the reason mommy falls so much. You know she ain’t no ballerina. Grace ain’t her middle name.

You better be nice sissy. I’s gonna tell mommy that you’re makin’ fun of her. Anyways, we need to wrap this up. We can’t speak fur odor control cuz we think the fresh outta the bag litter already stinks. It might not smell like cat pee, but it ain’t purretty let me tell ya’. And, we kitties actually purrfur unscented litter. Since I’s didn’t actually use the stuffs, I’s can’t meow to how it feels, but based on our tests, I’s can tell ya’ I’s wouldn’t like it.

Well Raena, me fur sure wouldn’t like it. Me doesn’t like it when me’s business runs all over the place and gets me dirty. That’s why me quit usin’ the pawtty box when that clay stuff was in there. Besides, all that dust and stench, is totally unacceptable fur any self respectin’ kitty’s pawtty box.

Mommy was quite disappointed sissy. She had really hoped this would be a good alternative to our regular litter. Ya’ know, in case she wanted or needed to add it to our rotation. She says ya’ never know what might happen and when ya’ might need an alternative. The size and purrice are right up there with other quality natural products and it’s made in the USA. We give it one paw fur bein’ made here at home, but we think they need to go back to the drawin’ board. It could fur sure use some upgrades. Our idea of a soft clump isn’t somethin’ that breaks apart the minute ya’ touch it. Can you ‘magine the mess you’d have with it breakin’ apawrt all the way to the trash or toilet to dispose of it? We’ve tried other Frisco purroducts that are top notch, but this one’s a miss in our opinion.

Dezi sits in chewy box

But we still luv Chewy. They’ve got great customer service that’s available 24/7, and purroducts fur the whole family, furred, feathered, scaled, finned and skinned. And, they offur speedy free shippin’ on all orders $49.00 and over and speedy flat rate shippin’ fur all other orders. They even offur a great auto ship program that allows you to save an extra 5% off your orders and makes sure you never run outta your pet’s faves. Don’t worry, you can skip, cancel or delay anytime.

Natural & Easy Defense Flea Tag #ChewyInfluencer

Hey everypawdy, guess who? Yep, it’s me, RaenaBelle here on a Fursday. We have so much to meow ‘bout, mommy said we had to write an extra posty today. As most of ya’ know, we shop fur most of our kitty supplies at Chewy.com. Ya’ know, the purrices are good, the selection is varied and the customer service is tops. So, when Petsmart bought them, we kind’a waited with baited breath to see what was gonna happen. Quite furankly, we sort of ‘spected the worse.

RaenaBelle!!! Befur we had a catputer, we had really wished a Petsmart would open up ‘round here. So meowin’ we ‘spected the worse isn’t very nice or accurate.

I’s just meant that we ‘spected purrices to go up and customer service to go down. You know, when big companies swallow up the little ones, those things are always affected. Anyways, to our surpurrise, things kind’a remained the same…least fur a while. Recently, Chewy has begun carryin’ some purroducts by Only Natural Pet, another online pet company purrchased by Petsmart. So, to innerduce peeps to these purroducts, we were asked ifin there was an Only Natural Pet purroduct we would like to try.

Yep Raena, and mommy had been eyein’ one of their natural purroducts fur some time. As most peeps know, mommy luvs usin’ more natural purroducts on us. She purrticularly hates to use poison on us to treat/purrvent fleas and ticks. She treats the yard ‘round our ‘pawrtment each season, and also sprays ‘round windows, doors and any openings that fleas could use to get into our house.

Only Natural Pet Easy Defense Flea Tag

That’s true sissy. But, bein’ Service Cats, means that at some point, we’re gonna be goin’ outside somewhere that mommy can’t treat. Flea treatments have come a long way over the years, and Only Natural Pet had developed a tag that’s worn on the collar to purrvent fleas, ticks and mosquitoes fur up to 1 year. Yep, it’s a tag and not the collar itself. You know, kind’a like the rabies tag or name tag some cats and woofies wear. So, mommy said we’d luvs to take that there tag fur a spin. We only received 1 tag, so mommy decided to let me try it out. I’s young and luvs to go anywhere and everywhere, so mommy figgered I’s needed more purrtectin’ than sissy. Let’s see what Chewy has to say ‘bout the Easy Defense Flea, Tick and Mosquito Dog and Cat Collar Tag:

Description

Protect your precious pup from fleas, ticks and mosquitoes the safe and effective way with the Only Natural Pet EasyDefense Flea & Tick Tag. Using the power of silicon dioxide particles, these unique tags are coded with frequencies that are safe for your pet, but irritating to biting insects—making for an effective, chemical-free flea and tick repellant. Once the tag is placed on your pet’s collar, programmed frequencies will harmonize with your pet’s own biological frequency, repelling those pests without bothering your furry friend. To humans and pups, this tag is harmless, but the vibration makes one thing clear to fleas and ticks: they aren’t welcome on the back of your furry friend. Keep them safe the natural way, with Only Natural Pets.

Key Benefits

  • Contains silicon dioxide particles that are encoded with frequencies that are safe for your pet, but grating to fleas and ticks, making for an effective, chemical-free flea and tick repellent.
  • Causes no harm to your pet—once the tag is hooked onto your pet’s collar, encrypted frequencies will synchronize with your pet’s unique biological frequency, deterring fleas, ticks, mosquitoes and other biting insects without bothering your pet.
  • Simply clip this flea and tick tag to your dog or cat’s collar and, in three weeks, you will have powerful, safe and effective flea and tick control that lasts up to a full year.
  • The tag uses quantum mechanics, and does not use electricity, chemicals, magnetics, or radioactivity.
  • Based on over 15 years of targeted research in collaboration with doctors and scientists, these European-designed tags are completely safe for dogs, cats and humans.

Precautions

The EasyDefense Tag is designed for flea prevention, not eliminating infestations. If your pet is already infested by fleas, their environment is also infested, and the tag on its own will not be enough to mitigate the infestation. To eliminate existing flea infestations, we strongly recommend complementing the tag with other natural flea removal products.

Only Natural Pet Easy Defense Flea Tag

When mommy furst opened the package, she noticed the tag was covered in a powder of some kind. It kind’a got everywhere. But mommy purrceeded to attach it to the stretchy collar she has fur us and chased me down to put it on. Yep kitties, it smelled funny, I’s wasn’t none to thrilled to wear it. Once the powder flakes off, the smell goes away too. The directions are purretty clear, one tag purr pet and it needs to be worn most if not all the time in order to synchronize and be effective.

Instructions

Simply attach the EasyDefense Tag to your pet’s collar using the ring provided, positioning it on top of other tags, farthest away from your pet.

The EasyDefense Tag will become fully effective within a few weeks. If you remove your pet’s collar at night, place it in or close to their bed. Since the tag utilizes your pet’s energy to create a natural barrier to pests, it should stay on or around your pet at all times.

It will usually begin working within a few days, but may take up to a few weeks depending on your pet’s health and the severity of pests in the environment. The EasyDefense Tag will also last up to 12 months.

The tag is waterproof and sturdy, but if it is severely damaged we recommend that you replace it. For the first 4 weeks remove the tag during baths and long swims, but after that period it is fine to leave on in the water.

For optimum effectiveness, please rinse the tag every month or so to remove dirt and debris.

The tag can only be used on one pet at a time because it synchronizes with the pet’s unique energy. Each pet in the household will require its own tag.

Keep the tag away from strong electric and magnetic fields, as these will disturb its effectiveness. If your pet has a microchip, it will not harm its effectiveness.

I’s wasn’t thrilled havin’ it on. I’s scratched and shook mine’s head and faux sneezed a few times. That’s purrobably mommy’s fault. Our rabies tag is attached to our harnesses, so we don’t actually wear those all the time. As fur collars, those are also somethin’ we don’t normally wear all the time. So, now not only did I’s have on a collar, but I’s had a dangle at the end. The furst hurdle I’s had was at dinner time. The tag kept hittin’ mine’s china dinner plate and gettin’ into mine’s food. That was just never gonna do. So, mommy took the collar off so I’s could eat dinner and then put it back on. Later, when we went to bed, I’s couldn’t settle down to sleep, so again, mommy removed mine’s collar. Since I’s sleep in the bed with her, the tag went on the table beside the bed. Hmmmmm I’s hope it didn’t synchronize to mommy. MOL

Furinally, much to mine’s chagrin, mommy decided we had to let me keep the tag on long enuff to ‘synchronize’ so that we could at least test it. I’s furinally quit scratchin’ at it and we only took it off durin’ meals and at night. Honestly, it’s kind’a hard to meow whether it truly works or not, since we don’t normally have a purroblem with fleas and ticks. However, we really like the idea behind it. It took some gettin’ used too, but I’s would give it 2 paws up. Anytime I’s don’t have to get doused with nasty smellin’ poisonous chemicals, is a good time and reason to celebrate. The tag costs $56.98 which seems like a lot, but considerin’ it works fur 12 months, that means it only costs $4.75 a month. That’s actually purretty cheap considerin’. The leadin’ treatments run $50.00 to $60.00 fur 3 to 6 months supply, so it’s at least half the cost fur up to twice as long. Mommy says she’d give it a thumb up. She luvs the natural non toxic option to purrvent a real purroblem.

Only Natural Pet Easy Defense Flea Tag

As the instructions say, ifin you already have an infestation, you’re gonna need to treat it with another method furst. The Easy Defense Flea, Tick and Mosquito Tag is a purrventative not a treatment. We don’t know how the “synchronizing” works, but because of it, each tag can only be used for 1 animal. It is not interchangeable and must be worn regularly to be effective.
