Chatting Cats: Mousies, Rats And Nip Oh My

Hey everypawdy, it’s me, RaenaBelle. Ya’ know, I’s went lookin’ fur that fly after mine’s dinner and couldn’t find it anywhere. It’s like it just disappeared or somethin’. Mommy said flies don’t live very long in the house, so he purrobably just went off somewhere and died,. I’s sure hope he don’t start stinkin’ up the place. Humans are always talkin’ ‘bout how their house smells like somethin’ crawled up in the walls and died. Maybe it’s flies. Maybe we’re bein’ over run with the little buggers. Ya’ think?

Raena, flies don’t stink up a house when they die. Where’d you ever get that idea? When peeps say those kinds of things, they’re usually talkin’ ‘bout mousies or some other kind’a vermin.

Raena sits pretty in the chair

Mousies? You mean there are really in truly live mousies? Have you ever seen a live mousy, sissy?

You mean outside of the pet store Raena? Hmmmmm  Well, me thinks me ‘members seein’ one at BlogPaws the year we went. Yeah, there was a blogger there that was carryin’ ‘round the biggest mousy me’s ever seen. Mommy says it was really a rat, but rats schmats, aren’t they the same thing? Least they’re in the same furmily, Dinner rodents. MOL

Raena hunches on the liberty cat tree

Really sissy? Have you ever had mousy or rat? Does it taste anythin’ like rabbit or chicken?

Dezi looks up at the cat tree while laying on the arm of the chair

Nah Raena, me’s never had mouse or rat. Mommy’s scared of ‘em. She says they have huge sharp teethies and bite. She says they carry disease and parasites, so the only mousies we’re ever gonna get are the furry nip filled kind.

Sharp teethies and disease, huh? Well sissy, I’s think I’s fine with only gettin’ the furry nip filled mousies. I’s don’t want anythin’ that might send me back to the V-E-T’s office. No way.

Me either Raena. You know, several of our furiends hunt mice all the time, and me doesn’t mean the furry nip filled kind.

Raena sits stop the liberty cat tree

Well sissy, I’s guess ifin they enjoy it, then it’s okay. You know, different strokes fur different kitty folks. Ya’ know, I’s can’t ‘magine any kitty choosin’ mousies over nip. Kittens, I’s luvs nip. Nip toys, nip mats, nip plants, nip any and every way. I’s just luvs the stuffs.

Dezi plays with the nip nanner

Me too Raena, me too. Me’s favorite bein’ the Yeowww nip nanner. Ya’ know, me’s been thinkin’ those Yeowww peeps should be payin’ us as much as we purrmote their silly purroducts.

I’s agree sissy. Ifin they actually paid us, we could buy more nip nanners. Wouldn’t that be fun? Can you ‘magine nip nanners in every room?

Dezi lays on the arm of the chair, Selfie

That would be fun Raena, but me doesn’t think that’s gonna happen anytime soon.

Raena lays on the liverty cat tree

Well sissy, with all this meowin’ ‘bout nip, I’s think I’s hear some nip callin’ mine’s name. Wanna play?

Yeah, sure Raena, me’s right behind ya’. (Dezi lays down on the cat scratcher and mumbles) Me’s just gonna have a little nap furst.

(Raena runs off to find a toy and looks back at Dezi laying on the scratcher) Sissy?! Let’s play!!!

  • We have had some mice and finches stray into the catio. We had to catch them so they won’t go into the house. We did not eat them though. Those nip yeowww nanners are great! We have a couple too. Hope it is not too hot there in Raenaville!

  • Mousies, Rats and Nip was delightful! My cats have only seen a real mousie one time, in the garage. They were all excited, wanting to play with it, but it was much too fast. 🙀

  • I remember a mouse in our house when I was a kid, and watching that thing run across the floor sent me straight up a chair, just like in the cartoons! They are nice to look at, but don’t want any around as pets or no!

  • We live in an old farmhouse where lots of mice get in. We keep the population under control. Dad does his part and gets rid of the bodies. Purrs, Snoops and Kommando Kitty

  • Your good, gorgeous kitties. The ginger boy next door eats everything apart from their intestines which mum finds in our garden. Yuk much rather have Tuna or chicken or prawns but I just get them as treats. Love you both. Bless you. x😻😻🐾🐾🐟

    • Fanky fank you.
Ooooh Yucky. Guess the ginger boy is hungry. We’re with you. Altho’ we don’t eat much fish here, but it sure sounds good as a treat. Big hugs

  • Professor Nick Sterling (cat extraordinaire) is also a fan of the ‘nip banana. My prior cat, Mr. Potter, preferred fur-covered mice, and he ate each one the same way: Step one, remove the tail. Step two, bite off the nose and eyeballs. Step three, lick every last bit of fur from the entire fake mouse body. Step four, flay it.

      Luvs ya’
