Hey everypawdy, we purray you’ve all had a pawsumly Blest week. It’s been…, well…(Raena pauses and thinks back over the last several days). Let me just tell ya’ll a story. Now of course it’s true, but some of the facts may have been a bit exaggerated. I’s do luvs mommy, but when she gets panicked…
Are you calling mommy a liar Raena? Me’s gonna tell. That’s not nice, not nice at all.
Well no sissy, of course not. Anyways, let me just tell the story. Grab a cup of joe and relax. Let me set the stage fur ya’. It’s been really hot around here. T’ween the regular hots of this time of year and the storms causing humidity to make the temps soar into sweltering triple digits, mommy tries to do outside chores after dark. You know, things like take out the trash and check the mail. So, like most nights, slash wee hours of the mornings, sissy and I’s were chilling out (sleeping) while mommy nodded on and off in the chair while supposedly watching something she thought she just had to see on the television.
Suddenly there was a loud noise and the sound of intruders outside our door. Sissy, looked down the hallway from the bedroom and then went back to sleep. I’s on the other hand headed to the living room post haste to see ifin I’s could help mommy and keep her safe.
Purrlease RaenaBelle! You moseyed to the living room at best.
Hmmmmpht! Who’s telling the story sissy, me or you?
Aha, there’s some of those exaggerated facts. MOL
Anyways, the noisy commotion outside reminded mommy that she needed to take the trash out. So, after looking at the clock and noting it was about 3:30 a.m., she went to the window and peeked out the blinds to see what awaited her on the other side of the door. Being too dark to distinguish anything, she reached over and flipped the porch light on. She then looked back out the window and saw a flash of tan run off to the side of our apartment building.
Those are the woods back there in the distance.
In case you’re wondering, we live in a very rural community with a great wooded area right behind our apartment. We have all sorts of wildlife, from bobcats, coons, skunks, opossums, stray dogs and cats and more, that often come around front to mooch food from the residents. You know, old folks will feed anything. MOL Anyways, not wanting trash to end up all over the lawn, mommy slipped her shoes on, grabbed a flash light and headed to the trash.
And you headed back to bed, huh Raena?
No sissy, I’s checked mine’s plate to see ifin I’s had left a few bites fur a late night snack. Anyways, I’s knew mommy would be safe, so I’s decided to have a little wash and wait fur her to come back. I’s was already envisioning a little lap time. I’s heard her coming up the walk, but what happened next put a damper on all mine’s plans.
Mommy opened the door to come inside and then there was a blood curdling scream released like I’s had never heard before. Kittens!!! I’s thought something horrible was happening. Was the sky falling? Did the world end? Did somepawdy or something hurt mommy? I’s stood on the edge of the cat tree fur what seemed like furever trying to take it all in. As sissy rolled over from her slumber, I’s jumped down and strutted towards the door and mine’s panicky screaming mommy. “Just let me at ‘em” I’s meowed. “I’s’ll purrtect you mommy”, I’s growled.
Hah!!! Sure ya’ did Raena. You were as puzzled as me was. Anyways, we need to continue this till next week. We’ve got Sunday Selfies to post with our pals the Kitties Blue; and, Blessings to count. We wanna fanky fank awnty Anonymous fur her generous gifts. And we wanna thank everypawdy who voted fur Raena in the contest.
