Hey everypawdy, how’ve ya’ been? Just another typical week around here. We’ve kept mommy on her toes and even caused her to break a nail or two. (Raena giggles) You should see it, she can’t hardly button her shirt or type. Ya’ know, when ya’ get used to having claws, it can really disrupt your whole way of life ifin ya’ lose ‘em. 

 

 

          Raenabelle, what are you babbling on about now? Nopawdy cares that mommy broke a few nails. 

 

They might sissy. But, that’s not really the point. I’s actually was gonna meow a bit about declawing kitties. You know that barbaric practice of denying us of one of our furst lines of defense. Mommy and Mrs. N were talking this week about a poor kitty who was being declawed at the age of 10 cuz her owner was having to move in with her kids and they didn’t want the kitty to scratch their furniture. As ifin declawing a young kitty isn’t bad enough, can you imagine losing them after living almost half your life? Mommy’s claws will grow back, but a kitty’s claws never come back. In fact, it’s not just the claw that gets removed; it’s the whole furst joint, bone included! (Raena shakes her head and lowers it in sorrow)  

 

 

 

 

          Me missed that conversation Raena. But that’s just horrible! Didn’t the V-E-T try to explain it to the kitty’s peeps?   

 

Mommy was livid sissy. She asked the same thing. Mrs. N said that like most of the V-E-T’s in our area, they don’t actually educate peeps or offer alternatives, they just schedule the appointment. Mrs. N said the staff told her that the owner had no choice ifin she wanted to keep her kitty with her. All we can do is send up some purrayers and try to educate peeps when and where we can. Claws are so important fur us kitties.  

 

 

 

 

          Me will fur sure do that Raena. We’ll be expounding on this in the future. We’re Blest to still have our claws, even tho’ mommy insists on clipping ‘em. 

 

Yeah sissy, that we are. Altho’ I’s will admit, I’s kind’a glad mommy clips ‘em…at least when they’re catching on things.  

 

          RAENA! You should never admit that, even ifin it’s true. You’re s’posed to struggle and grumble and growl the whole time mommy holds you down and clips. It’s what kitty’s do. 

 

But sissy, I’s luvs when mommy holds me. I’s just luvs spending time with mommy no matter what.  

 

I’s got a paw selfie too. And yes, there’s claws among all the fur,

we just don’t use ’em very often.

 

 

 

          Hmmmmpht  You’re such a kiss up Raena. Anyways, we should get to our Blessings. Raena and me still need to get to our V-E-T, much to me’s chagrin, so we’re still trying to raise money to get a car. We wanna thank awnty Anonymous fur the donation to our fund.
