Blest Sunday: Happy Thanksgiving 2021

Hey dearest furiends, can you believe it’s almost Thanky Thanksgiving? I’s mean, it feels like just yesfurday it was summertime. It’s so strange to be celebrating without sis Dezi. Ya’ know, she was born and gotcha’d in November all those years ago. Tomorrow would’ve been her Gotchaday. (Raena lowers her head and wipes a tear from her eye.) But, it’s Zebby’s furst, so I’s plan to make sure he knows all about Giving Thanks fur our many Blessings.

What’s that RaenaBelle? I’s already know about Giving Thanks. We do it every day.

Yes Zebby, we do. But, mommy likes to sit us down on Thanky Thanksgiving day and list our many Blessings befur we purray and thanky thank God fur them.

Uh, we don’t do that befur mealtime, do we? Ya’ know, I’s wouldn’t want mealtime to be late.

No Zebby, it won’t interfere with your mealtimes. (Raena shakes her head) Kittens Zebby, do you think about anything other than food?  It’s just something we do at some point during the day.

Raena lays in lapWhat’re we gonna do with that boy mommy?

Whew!!! So, what else to peeps do on Thanksgiving Raena?

Well Zebby, most peeps make a special dinner and often have furiends and family visit. Mommy tries to make sure we have something special to eat, but this year we’ll have the same old same old cuz of the fridge fiasco. Although, I’s did hear mommy telling someone the other day that we might be getting a special treat. Guess we’ll just have to wait and see. Either way, mommy always makes sure we have good quality noms. Fur that, we are truly Blest.

Fur sure Raena. We have some really tasty noms. We should share ours with mommy. Ya’ know, to let her know how much we appreciate her.

Maybe Zeb, we’ll see. Anyways, we have some mews to share. Furst, we wanna thanky thank everypawdy fur the purrs and purrayers fur our furiend Spook. The neighbor said the farm V-E-T told her that Spook had diabetes and stage 1 renal failure. So, this week, Spook went to heaven to join her son Jubal. The neighbor said she was there with her at the end. We are very sad. Mommy says she wishes she had known and could’ve been there, but…. We’re all just kind of numb right now.

I’s do miss our furiends RaenaBelle. I’s just don’t understand why they had to go away?.

That’s a conversation fur another time Zebby. Anyways, with the holidays here, we wanted to remind everypawdy to keep your furry’s health and happiness in mind as you celebrate. Not every furry enjoys the hustle and bustle of a house full of guests. Check out our post on Decompression Rooms here. And, although we eat a raw diet, that doesn’t mean every human food is appropriate. Check out the no no’s here and here. The last link includes common household cleaners and meds. Make sure your holiday celebration is a celebration fur all and not a tragedy.

  1. Poor Spook. It is sad to hear that the V-E-T couldn’t help her. But we all know that she is now in a place free from pain and hurt and has her best furiend Jubal at her side to play with again. They can take on a new adventure together. I hope that thought gives some comfort to her family.

    Luvs and hugs,

  2. We are real sad to hear about Spook. That was very sudden, and we send purrs and prayers of comfort.

    Happy Thanksgiving, sweet pals.

  3. Sending Raena and your mom love and hugs as you remember Dezi and for Spook. Diabetes and stage 1 kidney failure can be managed for quite a while so it is especially sad her owner would not do that. I hope you all have a blessed Thanksgiving. XO

  4. It sounds like maybe Spook was sicker than the tests seem to show. Sometimes the symptoms are worse than the bloodwork can indicate, and i am very sorry that Spook is gone.

May you have a blessed and beautiful Happy Thanksgiving!

  5. Wow Spook gone with stage 1 renal failure!?!?! THAT sounds sudden. Poor Spook RIP. And I thought Diabetes was something cats could be helped with.

Have a blessed Thanksgiving in the USA. We don’t have it here but we always envy you the tasty turkey.
