Blest Sunday: Passing The Blessings On

Meowllo everypawdy. It’s a furbulous Blest Sunday here. Altho’ we don’t have any sun puddles da weather has been a bit warmer. And you know we don’t like da winter colds so we’s sure enjoyin’ da warmth. Mommy’s been a little sickly and paw fur da course sis Lexi got da sicks late Furiday evenin’. But ya’ know what? Sissy still be eating and keepin’ most of it down, so all’s good there. She has developed a new habit dat mommy’s not real happy ‘bout tho’.

Dezi's selfie as an oil painting

See it all started last Fursday meownin’. We all headed to da pawdee box room as we do every meownin’. Me hopped on da counter to get a drink, sis Lexi crawled into da pawdee box and mommy sat on da human pawdee box directly across from sis Lexi. Sissy pawed at da litter and mommy looked up just in time to see sis Lexi lift her tail and start streamin’. And what mommy saw caught her completely by surprise. Lexi was standin’ so close to da edge dat she was streamin’ right over da edge of da pawdee box onto da floor. And me isn’t talkin’ ‘bout just a few drops eever, it was a full on stream. Thankfully mommy had covered da floor round da pawdee box with piddle pads, but none da less, sissy was missin’ da pawdee box altogether. Of course mommy didn’t yell or say anything, but she sure was thinkin’ a lot. She sed da whole time sissy streamed all she kuld think was, “Really? Can’t you take one more step forward?” Well ‘parently not cuz she’s dun it a few more times since then. Mommy’s just thankful she put down da piddle pads and dat sissy’s still usin’ da pawdee box…sort of. MOL

Lexi's impressionist selfie

As long as we head to da pawdee box to take care of business, mommy’s happy. Even ifin we miss every once in a while. MOL  We are very blest. And bein’ so blest we wanna share ‘bout sumpawdy who kuld use a few blessings. One of our fellow bloggers really needs your help. Awnty Katie Kat from Katiez Furry Mewz has quite a few kitties who need medical care, and furever homes. She also has a furiend who she’s tryin’ to help out so money be in short supply. Awnty Katie recently became a rescue. Even tho’ she’s been duin’ all she kuld to help da kitties there’s just never enuff green papers to go ‘round. We’s a little late to da party, but she set up an auction so she can continue to help out where needed. Ifin you have da means, you can donate directly to her PayPal via da Donate button on her bloggy. But let’s say you don’t have any green papers to donate. Take a look around your house, you might have sumfin’ you can donate to da auction. Or maybe there’s sumfin’ there you wuld like to buy. You know we told ‘bout how wunnerful and supportive da Blogosphere was last week on our Blogoversary; so let’s rally and do what we can to help awnty Katie Kat.

Blest Sunday: Material Blessings

Meowllo everypawdy, weez here. Mommy’s been tryin’ to relax and rest up after sis Lexi’s 36 hour throw up fest, but she sed we wasn’t missin’ 2 Blest Sundays in a row. Cuz no matter how bad things might get, or what’s goin’ on, weez still blest and me wants to meow ‘bout it. As ya’ know we find blessings in everything. We are blest to have all of you in our lives, and we are blest to have each other and a warm home full of luv. But we also received a kupple material blessings this past week. And we are so thankful to those who blest us.

Humidifier/Mister

Furst up is our new pawsum humidifier. Ifin you’ll recall, sis Lexi recently had to go to da VET and hers skin was dry and flakey; leavin’ depawsits of white dandruff all over her black furs. and of course da itchy ripple skins. Our humidifer broke a few years ago and mommy just didn’t have da money to buy another one, so we just dealt with da dryness as bestest we kuld. Well, one of our pawsum awnties sent us money to buy a new one and it arrived this week. Mommy got it all set up and placed on da vanity beside da bed where Lexi likes to sleep away da day. Within 24 hours da skin ripplin’ stopped and we all kuld breathe a little easier. Fank you so much awnty Anonymous, we reallly purreciate and luv our new humidifier.

Dezi and Lexi with 2 bags of Primal freeze dried cat food, gift from LouLou

But dat’s not da only material blessin’ we got this week. We also received 2 bags of da Primal freeze dried noms weez been eatin’. You all know mommy changed me’s noms recently, and she’s workin’ hard to get us to an all natural, species appropriate raw diet. Altho’ she sed ifin da freeze dried raw is where me draws da line, she can live wiff dat. She sez it ain’t purrfect, but it’s close. Course it be spensive, but as you know mommy will do whatever it takes to keep us healthy, so it’s really nice to have received 2 bags. Fank you soooooo much LouLou and awnty Suzanne. And hey, ifin you like gawjus kitties, good food and breads, you need to check out hers bloggy. She posted a gweat pizza recipe da other day, and she also has a recipe book out. You know pizza be our favorite human food so weez been meowin’ at mommy to make us one. We even purromissed to share.

Dezi's huge paw reaching for the camera
Ooooops Me didn’t move me’s paw fast enuff. Oh well how ’bout a paw selfie.

We woke up this meownin’ to a parkin’ lot full of emergency vehicles and da ambulance. They left wiff an empty stretcher so all must be well. Mommy sez we are very blest dat none of those peeps was here fur us. And we have sum sunshine today and a little warmer temps out so me’s hopin’ to talk mommy into a stroll later on. In da meantime, weez joinin’ da Kitties Blue fur da Sunday Selfie blog hop; and altho’ weez a day late, weez joinin’ Athena fur da Caturday Art blog hop too. Fank you all fur your purrayers fur sis Lexi, keep ‘em comin’ ifin ya’ don’t mind. And weez’ll be by as soon as we can to visit ya’.

Blest Sunday: Service Cats Never…

Well as you can see by da title of meez posty you are all in fur a service cat story today. And it all took place yesfurday. Really it started even afur we woke up, but we can’t really tell ya’ ‘bout sumfin’ we slept fru, right? MOL  So anyways, there we was all cozy and warm wiff da lectric blanky and down blanky and da fuzzy soft blanky me has suckled to not so soft anymore soundly sleepin’ and suddenly mommy sez, “Girls, we gotta get up now.” Even tho’ she spoke in dat soft wake us up voice, it thundered fru da silence of da meownin’ wiff it’s urgency. It was da gotta get up voice dat meant mommy had to visit da pawdee box room and fast. (Fur all our new readers, mommy can’t move anything below her neck in da meownin’ time till her muscles and nerves warm up. She can’t walk till she takes her medicine and it kicks in, so we are respawnsible fur gettin’ her movin’ and drivin’ da wheelchair to da pawdee box room when we wake up) So sis Lexi and me skipped stretchin’ and duin’ all we kuld to avoid steppin’ or pushin’ on mommys belly; sumfin’ you don’t wanna do when she needs to visit da facilities, started massagin’ hers arms and legs. When all of a sudden…well…

Dezi profiled on the cat tree lookin' back from the window

Sissy musta had da same urge as mommy cuz afur we kuld even blink she stood up, stomped on mommys belly and headed down da steps to da pawdee box room. Not cool sissy. Now mommy was turnin’ yellow; and a bit green wiff envy dat sissy at her age kuld still move so fast. Anyways, fankfully by dat time mommy’s arms was startin’ to move a bit. Me has never pushed mommy into da chair by meez self afur and she was still on hers back, so this was gunna be tricky. But me was gunna try. So mommy started to reach fur da bars to pull and me started pushin’ on mommys side. Oooooops, maybe not da bestest place to push cuz me thinks mommy turned another shade of yellow. And outta da blue Lexi came flyin’ back up da steps and right on to mommys tummy/bladder to help. A little girl power later and we was wheelin’ to da pawdee box room wiff a happy mommy. You can just use yous magination fur what might have gone on in there cuz we be purroper Belles and it ain’t pawlite to talk ‘bout such things in mixed company.

Anyways, afur ya’ know it we was headin’ down da hall to da kitchen so mommy kuld fix us bwekky and have her a cup of coffee. We always stop off and crack open da front door just so we can see outside. So mommy pulled da door open and da three of us peeked round and…”No Way!!!” All our eyes was big as dinner plates. Mommy quickly shut da door and slowly opened it again. And again da three of us peeked round da door to look out. OMC  S N O W!!! We all sat back in da chair and mommy sed, “Girls, we should just go back to bed.” We didn’t but it did sound like a good idea. Me hopped off da chair and onto da cat tree fur a closer inspection of da fallin’ white stuff as mommy made our bwekky. Sis Lexi went on into da dinin’ room and hopped on da table to wait fur her plate. She didn’t care at all ‘bout all da fallin’ snow. Anyways, mommy sed meez title was posed to be sumfin’ ‘bout da oopsies service cats sumtimes makes, but me sed Service Cats Never make oopsies. Bad idea or not, we must have meant to mush mommys bladder. We are cats after all, and cats always mean what they do, right?

We know you can't see da snow fallin' but it sure nuff is.
We know you can’t see da snow fallin’ but it sure nuff is.

Well snow and all weez very blest to have da warmth and coziness of our home and each other. We are also blest to have all of you. Fank you fur bein’ our furiends. Mommy still hasn’t finished meez Cardwood Derby car fur Cat Scouts. She got a reprieve and it’s gotta be finished and posted by this Furiday, so weez gunna be busy this week tryin’ to finish up. She made a real mess wiff meez furst box and weez now workin’ on box 3. Me hopes this one works cuz me dusn’t fink any of da neighbors have any more boxes we can have. Maybe meez posty shulda been ’bout mommy’s oopsies and not those of Service Cats.

Have you or your cats/anipals ever made a oopsie of sum kind furst thing in da meownin’?

Blest Sunday Vet Update

Meowllo everypawdy. As you can see by da title, we know you wanna know how sis Lexi’s VET pointment went. As a lot of you know she started showin’ signs dat sumfin’ was wrong December of 2014. Mommy took her to da VET in early January of 2015, and she was diagnosed wiff Chronic Kidney Failure. At da time da VET told mommy sis Lexi needed to eat da RX diet and sold her a hunnerd dollar bottle of Azodyl and claimed he was purracticin’ holistic medicine cuz of da Azodyl. Azodyl isn’t a medicine, but rather a supplement. And then he sed “We’ll just make her comfortable for what little time she has left.” Mommy asked what he meant, and he replied, “ I’ve had a few patients that died within weeks and few lived for a few months. By the time we diagnose this 75% of the kidney function is gone and they just don’t live very long.” Well as many of ya’ know mommy hates those RX diets in general, so she refused da noms and came home to do research. She also wasn’t acceptin’ dat sissy was gunna die any time soon.

Lexi sitting pretty and posing for the camera

Mommy went ‘bout learnin’ everythin’ she kuld ‘bout this disease and it’s treatments. She felt validated when she discovered da research dat those RX diets are based on was itself based on what worked fur dogs and refurmulated fur cats and only purrfurmed by Hill’s. All da other RX diet furmulators base their diets off da “old” Hill’s research. Well as most peeps know cats and dogs are not da same, and just cuz sumfin’ works fur doggies dusn’t mean it will work fur kitties. Mommy found lots of studies dat purrmoted high quality protein and low phosphorous diets fur CKD cats. So mommy implemented what she found in research along wiff tons of purrayers. Our VET was and is not happy wiff mommy’s choices of treatment, but he’s learned it’s bestest to just not argue wiff her cuz she’s gunna do what she thinks is bestest fur us no matter what anypawdy sez.

Unfurtunately CKD kitties are prone to UTI’s because their urine is so dilute from all da water they dwink. And da normal course of antibiotics given fur 2 weeks dusn’t work, they really need to take da medicine fur 3 – 4 weeks to truly get well. So now dat we be all caught up, sissy got a UTI round Christmas time. We kuldn’t reach our VET but we were able to get Lexi started on sum antibiotics none da less. We finally touched base wiff da VET who sed he needed to see her at da beginnin’ of da year. So mommy and Lexi headed fur da VET on Furiday. When he finally came in da room, sissy sed he looked shocked. So me thought she shuld tell ya’ ‘bout her own visit. Take it away sissy.

Lexi takes a nap in the stroller at the Vets

Lexi:  Fankz Dezi. Yep he shur nuff looked shocked when he saw me. He asked mommy all da questions ‘bout how I waz duin’ and ifin I waz better. Then he started squishin’ me all over. He told mommy dat my kidneyz, liver and bladder waz awl da right size fur a healthy kitty. Nuffin’ waz swollen or shrunken. My furz waz kovered in white flakez cuz I habz a dandruff and dry skin purroblem and we don’t habz a humidifier anymore. It broke a kupple yearz ago and mommy juzt hazn’t had da green payperz to buy another one. She had hoped our fountains wood add sum humidity to da air, but alas, not so much. Anywayz az sissy told ya’ mommy beez treatin’ me her way stead of heedin’ da VETz recommendashunz. I lozt a lot of weight when thiz awl star-did, but I’z been holdin’ my own fur da lazt year. I’z not lozt any more weight, and da VET kuldn’t believe it. He didn’t spekt me to still be alive, much less lookin’ and feelin’ good.

Lexi lating in the stroller at the Vets office

When he asked mommy when she had stopped my antibiotikz, she sed she hadn’t. She told him dat everything she readz tellz her dat I shuld get them fur at leazt 3 weekz and maybe even 4. So he sed, “Well that’s fine. I think she probably had a bladder infection and I treat those for 3 weeks instead of 2.” You know he’z one of those dat can’t ever admit dat he duzn’t know everything and dat mommyz research iz valuable. Anywayz, he then star-did manhandlin’ my head and I skooted back towardz mommy. He grabbed my paw to pull me back towardz him and I’z gave him da hisssssssss of disapproval and he let go. MOL  He sed I shur had a lot of spunk fur my kundishun. And then he told mommy, “Well keep doing what you’re doing, she’s looking good. I don’t know how, but she’s looking good.” Mommy, Dezi and I attribute my duin’ so good to God and all da purrayerz and mommyz research and treatmentz. I shur waz a happy kitty when we finally left dat smelly place  and all da white coatz behind.

We went to Wally World to get Dezi and me sum treatz. Dat place waz buzzin’. I’z not member da lazt time I saw dat many peepz in one place. Mommy waz tryin’ to drag da buggy and da stroller down da ailez and a man kame up behind us and sed, “Lookz like you’ve got your hands full.” Mommy smiled and sed, “Just about.” He walked past us and then turned to look my way and himz jaw dropped. He sed, “That’s a cat!!! I thought you had a baby in there.” To which hiz wife responded, “that’s her baby.” Mommy smiled, I meowed and we all went on ‘bout our shoppin’. It stormed da whole way home, but I was glad to be back home with da lektrik fireplace and awl my stuff and Dezi. It waz kold out there. When we got inside I star-did runnin’ round and aktin’ like a kitten again. I so lubz to go placez wiff mommy. I juzt wish we didn’t habz to go to da place of evil.

Dezi among shades of purple stormy skies and purple rose

Me was glad y’all came home too sissy. And me is sooooooo glad you got a good report from da VET. We are so blest dat you’re still wiff us and feelin’ good. And we are so blest to have so many pawsum furiends who help us and purray fur us. We do have a little bad news today, but everything will be okay. Mommy has carpal tunnel and every once in a while it really acts up. Tryin’ to maneuver da stroller and da cart made mommy twist hers wrist and so it’s hurtin’ really bad and she can barely use it. We will visit as soon as she can purr-opurrly type again. It took 2 days of peckin’ keys to write this posty, so she needs to rest it. We are feelin’ very blest today and everyday to be part of such a pawsum community. Fank you all fur bein’ our furiends. Meez gunna go join mommy and sissy and snuggle sum. It’s cold and rainy outside but weez all cozy and comfy in here. Hope you’ll join us next time when we take da Pet Blogger Challenge.

Do you always agree with your VETs recommendations? Tell us one blessing you are gwateful fur this week.
