Chatting Cats: What?! Another One?!

(Dezi hears mommy and Raena coming in the door and runs to the liberty cat tree to greet them) Meow mommy, me missed ya’ll. (Mommy gives Dezi some love and lets Raena out of the stroller and her harness)

Oh sissy, you’re never gonna believe what happened today.

Did ya’ll bring back any treats fur us?

Nope sissy, no treats today. (Raena bathes her mane and meows) Ya’ know, we had to go back to the dentist to get mommy’s bite made all over again. Seems the furst one didn’t turn out. Anyways, when we got there, the office was full of peeps waitin’ to see the dentist. Mommy happened to look at the board that lists the doctor’s name and didn’t see doctor Amy listed anywhere. We waited fur what seemed like furever befur bein’ called to the back by some young girl we’d never seen befur. She took mommy straight back to the dentist chair and pulled up mommy’s x-ray’s on the catputer. Mommy called her over and quietly mentioned that she didn’t see doctor Amy’s name on the duty board. And then she asked the nice little girl ifin doctor Amy was just off fur the day or what?.

And what’d she say Raena. Me knows mommy really likes doctor Amy.

Well sissy, seems doctor Amy doesn’t work there anymore. She left and went to work somewhere down in Texas a few days after mommy’s last ‘pointment. Nopawdy seemed to know ifin she had planned and knew that she was leavin’ when mommy was discussin’ her future ‘pointment. Least, ifin they did, they weren’t talkin’ ‘bout it. So, that meant mommy was gonna be seein’ another new dentist. She did find out that the nice little girly had been hired just last week. And, it seems that it’s hard to keep dentists in the office. So, ya’ might not know who you’ll see from ‘pointment to ‘pointment.

Oh no, Raena. What happened next?

Well, we waited a little while longer and furinally an older man in a white coat came in and said hey to mommy. He never innerduced himself, but mommy learned from the nice little girl that his name was doctor Haynes. He was very soft spoken and gentle. He looked over mommy’s records and then looked in her mouth. He put these pink things in her mouth and then squirted this blue glue like stuff all over her teethies. Mommy says those pink things are gonna be her dentures, and that blue glue stuffs is used to make the impressions. Mommy says that stuff is ice cold and made her teethies hurt really bad. I’s couldn’t get to her when she started cryin’, and I’s hated it. Fanky fankfully, it didn’t last too long. Pawrently that stuff dries in a jiffy and they took it outta her mouth as soon as it did. Mommy was spittin’ out blue stuff fur the longest time afterwards.

Well Raena, did mommy like doctor Haynes at least?

Yep sissy, doctor Haynes seems nice enuff. But, at this point we’re not sure he’ll even be there next week when mommy’s s’posed to go back in and have all that work done. We sure hope so, but ya’ never know. Anyways, after mommy’s ‘pointment, we just headed home. So, no treats fur us.

Well, we’ll just have to purray doctor Haynes stays put. Maybe since her’s older, he’s thru bouncin’ ‘round and lookin’ fur more money. ‘Course, we think it’s crazy that they be complainin’ ‘bout not makin’ enuff money. We’ve learned durin’ all of this, that purrices ‘round here are a bit higher than other places. And, speakin’ of green papers, we still need some help. Hey, is anypawdy out there? It’s me, RaenaBelle.

RaenaBelle, what are you meowin’ ‘bout now?

(Excitedly, Raena meows) I’s gonna tell everypawdy ‘bout our special day yesfurday. Ya’ know, ‘bout our pawsum visitor?

Great shootin’ mommy. Ya caight awnty Elizabeth with her eyes

closed while she was tryin’ to lug me up to her lap.

Our visitor? Don’t you mean me’s special visitor?

Awnty Elizabeth seems nice enuff. Maybe I’s’ll just relax a

bit and enjoy da extra luvvin’.

(Looking and sounding confused, Raena meows) No, sissy, I’s mean ours. Mommy said they came to see both of us. Mommy says, they’re our pawsum awnties from far away.

Well, (Dezi says in a huff) They’re only your pawsum awnties, cuz of me and sis Lexi. Ifin you didn’t live here, they wouldn’t…

Deztinee Izabella!!! Stop that. You be nice to your sisfur, our visitors wanted to see her just as much as they did you.

I’s relaxed so much, I’s went to sleep. Luvs ya’ awnty Elizabeth.

Fanky fanks mommy. ‘Sides, who did mommy have to chase down to come out and visit in the furst place. And it wasn’t me. (Raena meows sassily)

RaenaBelle?!! (Mommy says with a lilt in her voice)

Sorry mommy. (Dezi and Raena meow their apology in unison) I’s had so much fun. At furst I’s wasn’t sure ‘bout whether or not to trust ‘em, but that awnty Elizabeth be so nice and gentle. She luvved mine’s furs and kept sayin’ how purretty I’s am.

That’s better mommy. Me luvs you awnty Elizabeth.

Yeah, well, she said me was purretty too, Raena. And she kept sayin’ how bootyful me’s marking’s are. And, it was really nice of her and awnty Sonja to take our fotos with mommy. Ya’ know, we so rarely have somepawdy here that can help mommy take fotos of us with her. She says she wishes she had more fotos of her and sis Lexi. So now, she tries to take advantage of every chance she has to have somepawdy take fotos of her and us. ‘Course, as always, after seein’ the fotos, mommy wishes she had dressed up a bit more.

I’s luvs bein’ in mommy’s arms, flashy boxes and all.

Yeah sissy, mommy always says things like that. I’s think it goes back to the time befur digital cameras when every foto counted. Now a days, peeps just click and delete constantly. Let me tell ya’ we thought the flash on our camera was bad. Kittens!!! The flash on awnty Elizabeth’s fone was soooooo bright, and lasted furEver!!! Even mommy blinked.

Me luvs bein’ in mommy’s arms too Raena. Soon, she’ll be smilin’

and showin’ off her teethies again.

That she did Raena, that she did. MOL And then, mommy couldn’t see anythin’ but flashes fur a bit. Now she knows what we feel like when she constantly chases us ‘round with the flashy box.

Maybe sissy, but you know she ain’t gonna stop. Mommy says she luvs takin’ fotos of us. She says we make the purrettiest fotos ‘round. That might have somethin’ to do with our beauty.

RaenaBelle!!! Conceited much?!

I’s don’t know what that means, sissy.?

It means…oh, never mind what it means Raena. You’re purrobably right. Me really enjoyed the treats awnty Elizabeth brought us too. Mommy said you showed your picky hiney and wouldn’t eat ‘em.

I’s didn’t mean to hurt awnty Elizabeth’s feelings’ sissy. There was just so much excitement goin’ on. Who wanted to stop gettin’ luvvin’ and made over to eat treats? Not me, that’s fur sure. I’s ate some after they left tho’. Fanky fanks fur the treats awnty Elizabeth. And, fanky fanks fur comin’ to see us.

That’s okay Raena, that just meant more treats fur me. MOL Me ate ‘em right up and enjoyed every morsel. You snooze, you lose. MOL Let’s go see ifin we can get mommy to give us some more of those treats now.

Hey Raena, where are you? (Dezi walks from room to room looking around for Raena. Not seeing her, she looks up at the cat tree and over towards the door where she finally sees Raena sitting on the perch looking outside. Dezi meows) RaenaBelle, didn’t you hear me callin’ ya’?

I’s heard ya’ sissy. Did you need somethin’? I’s was lookin’ out at all the activity goin’ on. Ya’ know, after all that boomin’ last night and the storms, I’s didn’t know what it was gonna look like today. Mommy said some of those booms was fireworks, and some of ‘em was thunder boomers. But I’s wasn’t sure which was which?

Me was nappin’ just befur dark and all da commotion.

Yeah Raena, me either. Least at furst.

When da fireworks started, Raena and me came into the

livin’ room to be near mommy and each other.

Mommy was so purroud of both of us last night. When the furst loud boomer went off, we both jumped up and looked ‘round. Mommy looked over and calmly said, “It’s okay girls, it’s just silly fireworks. Ya’ll don‘t have anything to worry about, we’re all safe inside.” And ya’ know what? She was right sissy.

She was Raena. And she was so happy that we both hung out in the livin’ room with her.

Even at the height of all the commotion, we stayed put. Makin’

mommy happy and purroud.

Yeah sissy, mommy sure does like to spend time together, doesn’t she?

Purrlease Raena. (Dezi meows sarcastically) Like you’d wanna be anywhere else. You’d think you were attached to mommy’s hip with glue.

Then sis Dezi figgered out those last boomers was

thunder boomers and disappeared.

And you’re not? That’s not very nice to say. I’s luvs mommy. ‘Course I’s wanna be close to her. I’s goin’ with her to the doctor today. It’s time fur her regular monthly ‘pointment. And, it seems the doctor’s s’posed to fax a letter to the ‘pawrtments regardin’ us and mommy’s extra medical x’spenses, and he hasn’t done it yet. The manager’s gone on vacation, and we can’t re-certify our lease till the doctor sends over this letter. They used to let mommy bring ‘em the letter, but they won’t accept that no more, so we’re at the doctor’s mercy. Ya’ know, how do ya’ make a doctor’s office unnerstand, somethin’ has to be done by a certain date or else? I’s not sure what mommy has planned to get the point across, but I’s sure, she’s gonna let ‘em know how upset she is. It’s not like this letter is new. Every year fur the last 12 years, they’ve wrote it up and sent it over.

Me knows Raena. And mommy unnerstands how busy the doctor is and how stupid these rules are. But, lessen the law/rules change, she’s gotta do what she’s gotta do, so we can have somewhere to live. Anyways, looks like it may rain on ya’ll today. Me hopes ya’ll don’t stay gone too long.

Are you gonna miss us sissy?

Me always misses mommy, Raena. (Raena drops her head) Me misses you too, Raena. You’re a purretty good sisfur, all things considered.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaw Fanky fank ya’ sissy. I’s luvs you too. Let’s go finish brekky befur we have to go.

Blest Sunday: Chatting Cats: Sis Boom Bye? It’s July

(Dezi rolls around on a Yeowww nip toy and stops to bathe her paw and meows) RaenaBelle, come over here. It’s time fur our Blest Sunday posty.

(Raena emerges from the kitchen, looks toward the living room and meows) It’s that time already sissy? I’s do luvs Blest Sunday.

Me too Raena. We are such blest kitties. Me heard mommy got the courage this past week to mention that nasty incident that happened at the furst dentist ya’ll went to see. You know, the one who wanted you to wait out in the hot car cuz he was ‘lergic to kitties?

Sure ‘nuff, sissy. She asked Dr. Amy ifin she was ‘lergic to cats and how she really felt ‘bout me bein’ there with mommy. She didn’t even hesitate when she said, ifin she had been ‘lergic, she would just take a Benedryl. And then she said she had owned many kitties throughout her life. It made us feel really good. We knew we liked Dr. Amy, and now we knew we were in the purrfect place fur mommy to get her dental work done.

Me’s glad mommy likes Dr. Amy. And me’s glad she can be a purrfessional, unlike that other guy.

Me too sissy. Hey, did you see the toy awnty Vonda sent mommy?

Uh, me doesn’t think that’s a toy Raena. Mommy doesn’t yell at us not to touch toys. But, the whole time she was takin’ fotos, she kept tellin’ you to leave it alone.

I’s know, sissy. What’s up with that? Soooooo much temptation, that heart hangin’ down there.

Yeah Raena, it did look like a lot of fun. But, it also looks great hangin’ on the porch in front of the window. Mommy says a meowsy big Fank you awnty Vonda. She says it makes her think good thoughts ‘bout all her kitties in heaven every time the wind blows.

Yeah, it’s purretty hangin’ on the porch, but I’s would still rather play with it in the house. But, I’s guess we have purrlenty of toys to play with. We can let mommy have this one. On another note, did you hear all that bangin’ into the wee hours of the meownin’ last night?

You mean the ones after the thunderstorms Raena? Yep, me heard ‘em. It’s getting’ close to the 4th of July. It happens every year, peeps lose their minds and their manners fur ‘bout a week and set of fireworks all day and night. You were purrobably too young and noisily active last year to notice.

Maybe so sissy. I’s don’t really ‘member anythin’ from then. Ya’ know, I’s might have even thought you were hidin’ from me, ‘stead of all that noise.

Me’s not hidin’ Raena. Me’s checkin’ fur spiders and other intruders to keep you and mommy safe.

Uh, sure, sissy. Inside mommy’s sittin’ chair? (Rolls eyes) Whatever you say, sissy, whatever you say.

Come on Raena, let’s go play. Furst, let me remind everypawdy ‘bout the fundraiser fur mommy’s dental work. We’re almost there. She has a ‘pointment fur July 20th to have the rest of her teethies removed and get her dentures. We still need your help gettin’ the rest of the money together.
