Blest Sunday: The Blessing Train’s Home Again
MeOW C’mon Raena, it’s Blest Sunday. And guess what? It’s the last Blest Sunday of the year. Me’s so x’cited and happy. Did you see how long the Blessing Train got?
I’s sure did sissy. We are so Blest to have so many amazin’ furiends join us.
We are Raena. The Blessing Train made one last stop befur headin’ back here this week. Our pawsumly gawjus furiends Annie and Pierrot added their Blessings. They say eyes are the windows to the soul. Ifin that’s true, you’d be hard pressed to find anythin’ but luv in the two of them. We are so Blest to call ya’ll furiends. Fank you fur hoppin’ on the Blessing train.
They are just the sweetest, ain’t they sissy. The purrveiling Blessing that each of our riders shared is Luvs. Luvs fur furiends, family, and furever homes is the greatest of all Blessings.
That’s true Raena. Luv sees passed your faults and shortcomings and only sees purrfection. We are so Fankful fur all who joined the Blessing Train; the fabulous Valentine, gawjus Princess Erin, sweet Messy Mimi, the tabbylishus duo Annie and Charlie and their humanmom awnty Yvon, bootyful BellaDharma, the purrtastic awnty Crystal, Daisy Mae and angel Tigger, and the purrecious and somewhat sassy trio Peekaboo, Butterfly and angel Smokey.
And Fanky fank you also to sweet Pipo and Dalton, mine’s amazingly special and bootyful awnty Ellen and all the kitties of 15 and meowing, handsum uncle Greg, Zeke, Scooby, Opie and Marigold, the gawjusness of awnty Christine and Spike, the sweetest awnty Sandee, the wonderful and sassy felines, Shoko, Tyebe and Budd and our purrecious furiend awnty Vonda and angels Sassy and Pepper. We can’t tell you how much it means to us that you all hopped on the Blessing Train.
Ain’t that the truth Raena. Me was a little discouraged last year, but this year’s made up fur it in spades. It’s made this posty, our last posty of the year 2018, even more special. We’ve decided the Blessing Train will definitely make it’s annual appearance each December. We hope to see you all on board next year along with many more furiends sharin’ their Blessings.
Oh MeOWww sissy, I’s can’t believe this year is already over. It’s been a crazy year full of ups and downs, but thru it all, we had each other and all of you, our amazin’ furiends. We don’t know what the future holds, but we do know that with luvs and furiends we can face anythin’ and come out on the other side stronger and better.
You got that right Raena. While we’re fankin’. we wanna say a meowsy big fank you to awnty Susan fur her gift. And fank you to our special angel who sent mommy a box full of steaks from Omaha Steaks this week. Mommy’s a carnivore like us, she just doesn’t get to eat much meat cuz of the cost. But she was sure smilin’ last night while munchin’ down on that tasty steak. How does me know it was tasty? We got a bite of course. MOL
Oh sissy, it sure was delicious. I’s could’a ate the whole thing. Anyways, meowin’ of lasts, this’ll be the last Sunday Selfies with the Kitties Blue fur the year too.
Yeah Raena, time sure flies when we’re havin’ fun. We better wrap this up and get ready to welcome in 2019. As we do each week, we’d like to remind you to take a minute today and every day to give Thanks fur the Blessings in your lives. And fank you fur bein’ Blessings in ours. We purray the New Year brings abundant blessings fur all.

Chatting Cats: Happy Thanksgiving Slow Blinks
Hey everypawdy, are ya’ there? It’s me, RaenaBelle. Are ya’ll ready fur Fanky Fanksgivin’? I’s sure is. (Dezi walks up to Raena and nose bumps her) Hey sissy, are you ready fur tomorrow? You know we’re gettin’ a special treat cuz not only is it Fanky Fanksgivin’ but it’s also your gotchaday. By the way, do you know why mommy keeps snatchin’ me up and cryin’? She gets all mushy and soaks mine’s furs to mine’s skin. I’s swear, I’s had more baths the last couple of days than I’s had mine’s whole life.
She’s happy Raena. Don’t you ‘member her squealin’ like a banshee the other day? You know, when you slow blinked to her. You’re whole life she’s played the slow blink game and nuffin’. When you furinally slow blinked back mommy was beside herself with happiness.
Check out mine’s eyes. Aren’t they lookin’ pawsum?!!
Really? Mine’s slow blinkin’ makes mommy that happy? I’s didn’t do it befur cuz it hurt too bad. Ya’ know, always scratchin’. Scratch, scratch, scratchin’ mine’s eyes. Now that it doesn’t hurt anymore I’s just wanted mommy to know how much I’s luvs her. I’s never ‘magined she was gonna lose her marbles and get all mushy gushy fur days.
Purrlease Raena, you know how emotional mommy can be. Kittens, She can cry over a commercial.
Yeah that’s true sissy, I’s just didn’t know how ‘purrtant slow blinkin’ was to mommy. I’s always let her know how much I’s luvs her in other ways without her openin’ up the flood gates, so I’s just didn’t x’pect this. Guess it’s a good thing I’s like hugs and cuddles. How long do ya’ think this might last?
Who knows Raena. T’ween the guilt she feels fur not figgerin’ out what was wrong with your eyes sooner and the way you’ve been checkin’ everythin’ out like you’re seein’ it fur the very furst time, she could be gushin’ fur years.
Well sissy, I’s don’t blame mommy, she tried to help me and the minute she knew what was wrong and how to fix it, she did. I’s have so much to be fanky fankful fur. I’s one Blest kitty girl fur sure. And meowin’ of Blessings, tomorrow, we’ll be Giving Thanks fur the many Blessings we have.
We will Raena. Thanksgiving here in the U.S. is a day celebrated cuz of the fortune our ancestors found when they came across this amazing and fertile new world, America. And while we’re certainly grateful fur all of that and the fact that we were born here and are citizens of this great nation, we actually celebrate by Giving Thanks fur those Blessings we receive each day, like our home, our family and furiends, our health and so much more. Me purrsonally is very Fankful, cuz had mommy not saved me that Fanksgivin’ so long ago, me surely would have died.
Oh sissy, I’s fanky fankful mommy saved you and me both. And fanky fanks to awnty Cindy we’ll be havin’ our very own turkey tom lurkey to celebrate. Fanky fank you all fur your furiendship, luvs and supurrt. Our lives are richer and full cuz of all of you. We purray God keeps His hands on you and supplies all your needs. Sissy and me are sendin’ slow blinks and purrs your way and mommy A sends hugs.

Service Cats: How To Have A Furry Successful Halloween
MeOW Welcome to another Service Cat Monday. The holidays are fast approachin’, so we’d like to share some Tips to make the holidays safe and fun fur everypawdy, your furry family members included. Today, we’ll focus on halloween. The followin’ post will be written in human English fur reader and translator ease. Our Service Cat Monday posts aren’t intended to be an all inclusive Trainin’ Manual but rather Tips, Tricks and Techniques used/developed by mommy A thru her many years of animal trainin’, cats in purrticular. And to offur insight into your questions about Feline Behavior. Ifin you have any questions or topics you would like us to cover, purrlease let us know in the comments section or send us an email. Always remember, Training is all ‘bout Repetition and Rewards.
Remember, we think every anipal is much happier with a bit of Training. The first holiday quickly approaching is halloween. We don’t celebrate halloween for religious reasons, but a lot of people do; and it’s very important to remember your fur family doesn’t necessarily find it as much fun as humans do. Let’s look at the costumes first. With the popularity of social media and sharing cute animal photos, more and more costumes for your furry family are appearing. But, not all anipals like getting dressed up. Obviously kitties are less likely to enjoy wearing a costume than dogs, but there are quite a few dogs out there that would prefer their own skin and fur to some elaborate costume. You will know fairly quickly if your pet likes getting dressed up or not. If you happen to have one of those that goes limp, fights, bites, chews at, or tries to shake or scratch off the costume, Please respect your pet and don’t force them into wearing something that makes them uncomfortable. NOTE: A costume is different than a harness worn for safety while walking or being in public.
Me didn’t mind the suit. But the hat’s a little more than this kitty likes.
Next up would be the decorations. Maybe you go all out and have stringed spider webs, carved pumpkins, plastic spiders, bowls of goo or slime, cauldrons with dry ice, etc., or you simply buy a big bowl of candy to hand out; you need to know the dangers to your anipal. String of any kind is harmful to your pet if swallowed. Ya’ might get blessed and the string will pass through the digestive system without difficulty. But, more likely it’s going to cause some serious problems resulting in surgery and VET fees. Silly String, or the string in a can is a sticky plastic and manufactured to keep it’s sticky stringy shape no matter what. Not something you’d want wrapped around your anipals’ intestines. Small plastic/pipe cleaner spiders and decorations are more likely to be chewed by dogs, however some kitties might try as well. Again, not something you really want in your anipals’ tummy. And that cool “eerie” dry ice…well it can burn your anipals’ paws, skin or tongue.
Nuffin’ but kitty treats fur us.
Most people know that chocolate isn’t good for your pets. But what about all those other candies one might buy to pass out? A lot of candies are made with xylotol, which can lead to liver failure. At the very least, your furry friend might end up with gas and tummy upset. Candies made with pure sugar, like a halloween favorite, candy corn, can cause a bad case of diarrhea. Other hard candies and candy in wrappers can cause obstructions. Another trip to the VET and more green papers. Caffeine, also found in many candies, is also toxic to anipals. Raisins, grapes and other healthy for humans treats are toxic to anipals. So, be sure to keep the candy dish covered and out of your furry’s reach. And, please remember, alcohol, carbonated drinks, caffeinated drinks, marijuana, and other human spirits, are all toxic to your furry family member. You can always buy your pet some of their favorite treats to celebrate with. You might even want to make kitty a nice catnip/chamomile tea (boil catnip leaves in water for approx. 15 minutes, let cool, strain and serve).
So, you’re planning a party with all of your friends. Remember, not all animals like loud noises, strange people and commotion. And what about the “Door Darter”? You know, we’re quite happy to stay inside with mommy even when the door’s wide open. But, some anipals look for any chance to slip outside for a quick sniff of fresh air. MOL It’s a good idea to set up a “Decompression Room” (described here) for your pet during the party or when you’re passing out candy to trick or treaters. The last thing you want is for your cat/dog to escape through an open door or to get startled by someone’s costume and bite. Pets ARE NOT Decorations for your holiday party or anything else!!!
As most of you know, we’re against letting your anipal freely roam outside without you. This is especially important during halloween. This particular holiday seems to bring out the kooks worst in people. Whether it’s kids playing pranks or actual Satan worshippers (yes they do exist), black cats in particular are are often targeted for torture. And yes, ANY Animal Abuse is Torture. Altho’ we’re not familiar with it, it’s been brought to our attention the last few years that all white cats are also at risk, as well as dogs of the same colors. PLEASE, keep Fluffy or Fido of any color inside or on a leash with you at the other end during the weeks surrounding halloween.
Taking a few extra steps to ensure your pet is safe and comfortable can make your celebrations a success. You might want to keep the number for animal poison control on hand (888-426-4435), and be sure to check with your VET about after hours emergencies. Better safe than sorry. Be sure to tell your guests not to feed kitty/doggy or better yet, put them in the Decompression Room.
