Giving Thanks

Are you ready? Thanksgiving is here and that means there’s less than 30 days till Christmas. Can you believe it? Seems just like yesfurday we were celebratin’ da summer holidays. But summer has come and gone and winter is on it’s way. Some of ya’ awe already getting’ snow and cold. Weez sendin’ y’all and all da ferals in your area our purrayers. It did turn cold here fur a few days but it’s warmed up a bit again. Weez kinda glad mommy hadn’t taken out da lectric blanket, cuz today weez sweatin’. MOL  It was so warm this meownin’ me took a break from brekky to lay in da bath tub a bit. But just as quick as it warmed up it’ll turn cold again. We don’t like da cold but we do like da extra cuddles and snugglin’ dat come with it.

We got da cutest Thanksgivin’ card yesfurday from one of me fellow scouts, Pete and hims furmily. Cat Scouts go to work at this time of year spreadin’ holiday cheer to those who might not otherwise have any. Now dat’s not to say dat scouts aren’t busy all year round cuz they are. Those of us scouts dat blog usually post all our fun virtual trips and parties. And cuz of dat a lot of ya’ may be thinkin’ dat scouts is just a big party. But you wuld be wrong. Scouts is a learnin’ adventure and a community helper. There are projects all year round dat scouts can purrticipate in and bring joy to those less furtunate. Weez there fur each other and try to help each other durin’ times of sads and trubble. We have a quiet room where we post all our purrayer requests and other scouts rally to purray. Meez recently been named da Scout Chaplain. Me is so honored and hopes dat me can be da Chaplain dat every scout needs. So yes, we do have a lot of fun, but ifin you’re lookin’ to grow and be da best kitty you can be, think about joinin’ up. Just click da link in red to be transported to scouts.

We have a lot of gweat things comin’ up fur ya’ in our future postys. Even mommy is gunna be bringin’ ya’ sumfin’ special. She’s really ‘cited ‘bout it and sis Lexi and me are excited fur her. Weez not plannin’ much fur Thanksgiving, but we will be takin’ da day off to enjoy spendin’ time together. We are so thankful dat we have each other and a home filled with luv.  We wrote a little poem about the things weez thankful fur.

 

Giving Thanks 

 

We’re thankful for the air we breathe,

   The wind that blows thru the leaves.

The sun that shines in the sky up high,

   The darkness that covers the world at night.

The freedoms granted by God above,

   And for His mercy, grace and love.

We’re thankful for our loving home,

   our mommy, each other, that we’re not alone.

We’re thankful for you and you,

   all our friends and family too.

Today and everyday we’ll share with you

   All our love and gratitude.

Is That Tent For Us

Well it’s time to tell ya’ ‘bout a pawsum playmat you can pick up at Chewy fur Christmas. This month we were one of da lucky ones dat received da Kong active playmat tent. It’s made by Kong, so you know da quality is good and you can get it at Chewy so you know da purrice is good.

Now da KongTriangle Playmat fur Cats is smaller than we ‘spected, but it’s still a lot of fun. And it’s purrple animal purrint. Dusn’t get much better than dat right? There’s a cute little mousey dat be attached and dangles when da mat is in da tent pawsition. And let me tell ya’ a little sumfin’ ‘bout da attachments on toys. They’re not all da same quality. But this little mousey is really a stand on it’s own toy. It’s a nice big nip filled soft mouse. Da mat/tent itself is very sturdy. It has 3 panels what fold to make da tent. There awe 2 velcro closures dat make it hold da tent shape. Da velcro holds very nicely. Now cuz we be a little on da larger side, we like it laid out flat too. Da inside is soft and plush and makes fur a gweat nappin’ spot. And hey, there’s dat little mousey in case you wanna whacky paw in your sleep. MOL  Sis Lexi and me give it a 4 paws up each. But what ‘bout mommy you ask?

Well mommy sez it’s smaller size wuld lend itself to bein’ a gweat furst mat fur da new kitten, but it’s still gweat fun fur da bigger cats. And because of it’s size, it dusn’t take up a ton of room on da floor. As you know all kitties regardless of age and size can manage to fit themselves into da smallest of places. We’re a house full of purrple and animal purrint luvvers here, so we luv it’s look. And it’s made by Kong, so mommy knows it’s good quality. So mommy gives it 2 fumms up too.

Blest Gotchaday Sunday

Well it’s a Blest Gotchaday day Sunday fur me. Yep, this is da day me got gotted 6 years ago. Me gave you a brief look into da events of meez gotchaday in meez last posty. Ifin you missed it you can read it here. Me is a Thanksgivin’ kitty fur sure. Meez furst three weeks of life might have been turbulent, but meez been livin’ on cloud nine ever since mommy saved me. Meez big blessin’ at this time of year is meez life and meez furmily. Me kuld very well have died afur mommy ever came to save me, but God was lookin’ out fur me and kept me holdin’ on till He kuld send mommy to me. Altho’ mommy didn’t take and foster meez 10 littermates she did help da dog rescue dat took us in; to get them all healthy. As far as we know, all meez littermates lived and got homes. Me bets none of them got a mommy like me did tho’. (Weez postin’ never afur seen fotos from back then. We pawlogize fur da quality, we had nuffin’ digital back then. Can you believe we actually thought some of these was good? MOL Thank catness fur digital cameras.)

In other news , you may have noticed we haven’t been round much. As we was visitin’ you all on Furiday we had to take a small bweak cuz mommy’s case worker was here fur sum paper signin. Mommy wasn’t movin’ very fast to begin with, but we were makin’ da rounds. After mommy’s case worker left we tried to git back to visitin but it was our turn to update our puter. See we signed up fur Windows 10 a while back. We never heard anything ‘back from them and basically just furgot ‘bout it all. Till Furiday when suddenly our catputer started updatin’. Parently our turn had come up and we was getting’ da new Windows 10. What it really meant was no bed fur mommy Furiday night cuz she had to monitor da whole fing and then find everyfin’ again.

OMC It’s gunna take us a while to figger all this out. Nuffin’ is where weez used to it bein’ and it’s so alive it seems to log us outta stuff all da time. It took a good little while to get it set up and then we discovered dat we had to re-load everything weez use to usin’ includin’ google, da live writer we use fur managin’ da blog, our email, well everyfin’. And then we gotta find where it all went to. MOL  Mommy is just not puter literate enuff fur this kind of stuffs. MOL  Which reminds me, sum of you got a email yesfurday dat sed me published a new bloggy but then nuffin’ was there. Seems when da Windows Live Writer syncs, it posts a temporary post and then immediately deletes it in order to verify and link up to da blog. Me didn’t actually post to da blog yesfurday. Mommy kuld barely hold hers head up much less type. MOL  We are excited ‘bout da new Windows 10 but it is daunting too. Purrlease bear with us as we find our way around again and get back to visitin’. And mommy gets sum rest. Ifin any of ya’ dat have already updated have any tips, let us know.

This week is Thanksgivin’ here in da U.S., but don’t wait fur Thanksgivin’ each year to list and be thankful fur da blessings in your life. The Holiday’s Are Coming

Da weekend is finally here and Thanksgiving’s just round da corner. You know what else is comin’ up? Meez 6th Gotchaday, dat’s what. Yep dat’s right. Mommy rescued me and saved meez life 6 years ago. Yep, meez littermates and me was rescued and taken to a big ole cold room with lots of cages and loud noises. And then…da sweetest smell me had ever smelled wafted thru da air. Meez littermates and me was all gathered up in a basket and dumped out onto da cold hard floor. Me kuld see a bright light in da direction of da sweet smell so me had to go and check it out. Meez littermates was all huddled together and wouldn’t hardly move. But not me. Me waddled over and climbed da hills what was mommys legs and turned on meez purr motor. She wasn’t leavin’ there without me no matter what kind of charm this little girly had to do.

Mommy looked down at me and smiled. Her eyes filled with salty water and she spoke da most beautiful words me had ever heard, “You’re my Destiny.” Me didn’t know zactly what dat meant, but da smile on her face and warm comfurt in her voice sed it was a good thing. Me purred even louder when she spoke. And then she picked me up and sed, “Wanna come home with me little one?” Me purred so hard meez whole body shook. Of course me wanted to go home with her. Why did she think me was doin’ all of this ifin not to make her fall fur me? It worked and she told da lady she wuld take me home to live with her and Lexi. Me didn’t know how blest me was gunna be. But me has a pawsum home with a wonderful sissy and a mommy who wuld do anything fur me.

We recently won a book ‘bout Simon’s Cat from Cat Chat Cody and his mommy; dat mommy has been readn’ to us. What fun. None of us were furmiliar with this Simon or his cat, so weez really enjoyin’ da antics and drawings in this pawsum book. We don’t really do book reivews, but we will say dat ifin you need a Christmas purresent fur da cat luvver who has everything, Simon’s Cat: Off to the vet wuld make a gweat guft. 

 

So with Thanksgiving right around da corner we wanna remind you ‘bout a few safety tips to help make da holiday fun fur you and da furry members of your household. Remember we don’t all purreciate parties, company or even wild decorations. And sum of us don’t know to stay away from da flames on candles. And those cute and sumtimes really purretty oil burners? Well MOST essential oils are poisonous to your fur kids; and your human ones too ifin ingested. Dat dusn’t mean you can’t use these things just dat they need to be supervised and/or out of reach of all da wee peeps and 4 leggeds in da house. And dat fancy feast yous cookin’ up fur da festivities might smell delicious and have us scopin’ out da kitchen, but most of it is toxic to us furries.

By now most peeps know chocolate shuld not be on da menu fur your cat, dog or other furry, and alcohol is an absolute no no. Onions, garlic and chives can cause liver and kidney purroblems specially fur kitties. See it’s not da turkey we can’t have, it’s all da stuff you put on it to titillate your taste buds dat makes it toxic fur us.

 

Mommy sez a good rule of thumb is: Ifin your cat kuldn’t ketch it in da wild, it purrobly shuldn’t go on da plate.

 

So, plain ole turkey tom lurkey? Give me sum!!! But roasted and stuffed and slathered in garlic butter turkey tom? Nope, can’t have it. Fur a list of human foods dat shuldn’t be served to us fur kids you can check out da ASPCA here.

But food and smellies awen’t da only hazards at this time of year. Those purretty poinsettias on da table or window sill awe purrlenty poison as well. Mommy sez ifin it has or grows from a bulb, it shuld be considered poisonous. But there awe so many plants and flowers dat be poisonous we kuldn’t begin to cover them all in this post. So when in doubt, check it out here. Ifin you think your fur kid has gotten into sumfin they shuldn’t have or has been poisoned you can call da ASPCA animal poison control center at: 888-426-4435. They do require a credit card so they can charge $65.00. There is also da Pet Poison Helpline at: 855-764-7661. They charge $49.00. Both awe available 24/7/365. But ifin you think your anipal has been poisoned, don’t wait. See your VET ASAP. Sum poisons can be reversed ifin caught in time.
