Blest Sunday: We Honor And Salute You

Dezi: MeOW C’mon Raena, today’s a very special Blest Sunday.

Raena: Really sissy? What’s so special ‘bout today?

Dezi: It’s Veteran’s Day, Raena. A day we take to ‘member the soldiers who fought, and many gave their lives so we could be free from tyranny. So many brave men, women and anipals gave their lives on distant shores, so that loved ones and even strangers like us could live our lives free from fear of wars in our own home. Me thinks we furget how things could be. We’ve been free fur so long that me thinks we sometimes take our Country’s greatness and freedoms fur granted.

Raena: I’s think you’re right sissy. It’s not purretty to think ‘bout young men, women and anipals lying in a trench on some foreign soil bleeding and dying. To think ‘bout them bein’ lonely and scared, and away from their families and loved ones; not knowin’ ifin they’ll ever see them again. To think ‘bout them swearin’ an oath to purrtect us…to die fur complete strangers. Soldiers who never gave a second thought to goin’ to bad places and facin’ bad people. Standing their ground and sayin’ “As long as I’m here, no one is going to hurt you”.

Dezi: So true Raena. There’s so much hate and discord in our Country right now. So many peeps sayin’ and doin’ things that would get them thrown into prison or killed in lesser Countries. Peeps tryin’ to take away the very freedoms that those soldiers bled and died for. The truth is, it’s a slap in the face, it’s like spittin’ on the graves of all those who bravely fought and lost their lives to secure those freedoms and make our Country great. It makes us so sad to hear ‘bout our vets bein’ treated badly.

Raena: I’s think all those soldiers who died to make America great are turnin’ over in their graves at some of the nonsense goin’ on right now, sissy. In our house, we bleed red white and blue. We honor our flag and each and every soldier who willingly defends/defended our Country and us from our enemies. We are so Blest to have been born in such an amazing Country. We are Blest to have a mommy who has taught us the price that was paid to make our Nation great.

Dezi: Yes Raena, we are indeed Blest. We fank and salute each and every veteran and their families today and every day. We fank each and every soldier who serves us now. You may not know us, and we may not know your name, but we ask God to Bless and keep you each day. While you’re watchin’ over us, God is watchin’ over you. As we do each week, we’d like to remind you all to Give Thanks fur the Blessings in your lives. and we wanna fank you all fur bein’ Blessings in ours.

Blest Sunday: Chasing The Wilds

Dezi: MeOW C’mon RaenaBelle, It’s Blest Sunday. Me wants to count me’s Blessings befur the storms start again.

Raena: I’s comin’ sissy. Ya’ know, it would really be a Blessing to mommy ifin you didn’t spend so much time unner the bed. (Raena meows sarcastically) I’s know, you’re not hidin’, you’re lookin’ fur intruders. But, I’s don’t think any intruders could have slipped by you. You’ve been unner the bed most of the week.

Dezi: Was not, Raena. Me also spent time on the stool unner the vanity by the bed, and unner the dinin’ room table. Me even spent some time in mommy’s lap. And, somewhere durin’ one of those times we did get an intruder. You know, that fly we’ve been chasin’ fur two days?.

Raena: I’s think he’s multiplyin’ sissy. I’s know I’s caught him once already. He tasted kind’a nasty. And I’s accidentally scratched mommy when I’s clasped him t’ween mine’s fluffy paws.

Dezi: Yep Raena, me heard. You’re a dangerous hunter. You’re all over the place. It’s like you’re chasin’ the wilds. You even jumped up on the kitchen counter. You know we’re not allowed up there.

Raena: I’s was tryin’ to ketch the fly sissy. It was botherin’ mommy and you were nowhere in sight. So, it was totally up to me to purrtect her. Flies are wild, aren’t they?

Dezi: Purrlease Raena, like that fly was gonna hurt mommy. What…

Raena: It might have sissy. She kept waving her hands thru the air and makin’ spittin’ sounds. It could’a flown in her mouth. So, I’s had to keep her safe. Ifin you hadn’t been hidin’ out you might’ve known what a pest he was bein’. Anyways, I’s thought we were gonna count our Blessings. Let’s get on with it, I’s wanna go finish mine’s brekky.

Dezi: Meowin’ of food Raena, did you know mommy signed us up fur some 30 day challenge?

Raena: Yep sissy, I’s heard that. I’s hope it’s a challenge we’ll like. You know, we’re really Blest to be able to do things like this. Not every kitty in the world gets to try out new stuffs and toys and noms. That’s one of my fanky fankfuls this week. And, I’s know we mention havin’ a luvvin’ furever home a lot, but I’s think that’s a Blessin’ we should give fanky fanks fur every day. ‘Specially with all these storms we’ve been havin’. I’s wouldn’t wanna even think ‘bout havin’ to live outside in it. (Raena shudders)

Dezi: You’re right Raena. Havin’ a furever home is somethin’ to be fankful fur every day. As are our furiends and mommy. Our life’s purretty good from where me’s sittin’. Sure we have a few purroblems now and then, but mommy says that’s just pawrt of life. And, as long as we have each other, God and luv, there ain’t nuffin we can’t overcome.

Raena: You’ve got that right sissy. We luvs our furiends so much. We meow extra purrayers fur each of you every day.

Dezi: Let’s wrap this up Raena. Me’s kind’a hungry too. As we do each week, we’d like to remind you all to take a minute today and every day to give Thanks fur the Blessings in your lives. And, we wanna say and meowsy big Thank you to all of you fur bein’ Blessings in ours.

I’s not sure what all this “easy” stuffs is, but this is what mine’s easy looks like.

Blest Sunday: The Internet Can Be A Blessing

Dezi: MeOW C’mon Raena, it’s Blest Sunday and we’ve been MIA since Wednesday. Me’s not sure ifin our furiends missed us or not, but we sure missed them.

Raena: Yeah sissy, I’s guess we’re gonna have to start tellin’ peeps that we can’t post on mommy’s doctor days. Since the whole lease fiasco when the manager harassed mommy’s doctor’s office, she just gets so stressed out, she can’t help us do anythin’.

Dezi: It’s not just that Raena, the doctor keeps messin’ with mommy’s medicines and blamin’ some imaginary rules. Anyways, we’ll just have to figger somethin’ out so we don’t just disappear. Maybe mommy can try to schedule our posty to publish without us bein’ here.

Raena: That’s a good idea sissy. But, the last time she scheduled a posty to post without us, it totally disappeared into cyberspace. I’s don’t think she’s ever found that posty. Sometimes the innernet’s not so smart.

Dezi: Well Raena, mommy says the innernet’s only as smart as the humans who purr-ogram it.

Raena: Well sissy, ifin that’s the case, ya’ reckon mommy lost our posty and not the innernet?

Dezi: Me’s not sure Raena, but me ain’t gonna be the one askin’. Anyways, we’re gettin’ off track here. Smart or not, the innernet’s been a big Blessin’ fur us. Cuz of the catputer and the innernets we’ve made loads of amazin’ furiends. Who would’a thought 5 years ago when we got our very furst catputer, we’d be where we are today?. You weren’t ‘round then, but me ‘members mommy was so cautious and ‘fraid that everypawdy was somepawdy other than who they said they were, and that everypawdy was out to give her a virus or somethin’, that she wouldn’t hardly spend any time on it. She fur sure never visited any fun sites.

Raena: Oh sissy, and the camera ya’ll had. (Raena shakes her head) The other day I’s saw some of the fotos and videos ya’ll posted back then. Those were pawful. Mommy fur sure ain’t no purrfessional when it comes to the foto takin’, but at least she’s learned a few things thru the years. And, the camera got better.

Dezi: That’s true Raena. ‘Course, mommy had cats and rats (cataracts) back then, so she had no idea how blurry and grainy our fotos were…the whole world was blurry to her. MOL

Raena: MOL (Both Dezi and Raena burst out laughing) Yeah sissy, now she just blames it on old eyes. But ya’ know what? I’s don’t care how old mommy’s eyes are, I’s luvs her and am so Blest to have her as mine’s mommy.

Dezi: Me too Raena. We also got some goody Blessings this week we need to say fank you fur. We sure do ‘purreciate all of our furiends. and we wanna fank awnty Susan fur the green papers and her furiendship.

Fanky fank you awnty Cindy. I’s luvs me some cheese.

Raena: We sure do sissy. And we wanna meow fanky fank you to awnty Cindy fur sendin’ us some goodies and new boxes to play in. You know how much we kitties luvs our boxes. I’s had a great paper bag I’s was playin’ with till mommy threw it out. She said it was all squished and wouldn’t stay open any more. Fur some reason she thought that meant it wasn’t fun. (Shakes head and looks over at the trash can) Sometimes mommies just don’t get it.

Dezi: Well Raena, you did put that paper sack thru it. Me’s sure mommy will get you another one ifin ya’ liked it that much. Mommy always says ifin we’re happy then she’s happy. Me’s purretty sure we even have a box with a couple of those paper sacks ‘round here somewhere. ‘Member the time mommy thought she was gettin’ a really cool toy fur us fur the cheap, and it turned out to be a box of paper sacks? All ya’ gotta do is find that box. MOL

Raena: Really sissy? I’s gonna go look fur it now.

Dezi: You do that Raena. Me’s gonna wrap this up. The truth is, there purr-obably are lots of peeps who aren’t who they say they are and want to take advantage of others. But, fur us, the innernet’s been a huge Blessing and opened up a world with a lot of amazin’ anipals and peeps that we would have never known without it. Blest Sunday: Sweating Like A Pig In A Smoker

Dezi: MeOW C’mon Raena, it’s Blest Sunday. Me wants to count our Blessings.

At least this plastic’s a little cool.

Raena: How can you even think in this heat, sissy? I’s just wanna find a cool place to lay and stretch out fur a good nap.

Dezi: Purrlease Raena, It’s been hotter than this befur. We live in the South, and heat’s just a pawrt of it.

Raena: Yeah sissy, but not in the house. The house is s’posed to be cool. Isn’t that what the air conditioner’s fur? Even mommy’s sweatin’. I’s heard her say last night that we were way past the glistenin’ of a Southern lady and well on our way to sweatin’ like pigs in a smoker.

Dezi: Me heard her Raena. Me even got me’s fur soaked when me sat in her lap fur a little lap luvvin’. She said the air conditioner wasn’t workin’ purr-opurrly. Me saw her turn it down several times. And me heard her yellin’ at it to work. She said it ain’t s’posed to be 80 degrees in here when the thremostat is set on 74°. She even tried the o’l human trick of hittin’ it. Hmmmpht Humans think that hittin’ electronics will somehow make ‘em work. Me’s never quite unnerstood that concept, but lots of humans do it.

Raena: MOL I’s seen it too sissy. So, are you meowin’ that it doesn’t actually work? Cuz you know, when I’s can’t get our ‘lectric toys to work, all I’s have to do is whacky paw ‘em a few times and they suddenly start workin’.

Dezi: There’s a big difference in you furinally whacky pawin’ the power button and humans slappin’ at the sides of a machine Raena. Anyways, least we have fans. Did you know that peeps used to think sweatin’ was a way to lose weight and get skinny? Sure ‘nuff, peeps used to pay good money fur stuffs to wrap themselves up in that would make ‘em sweat. Hmmmpht We didn’t have to pay anythin’ fur this. See? You can find a Blessing in everythin’, ya’ just have to look.

Raena: You’re right sissy. Altho’ I’s don’t think that losin’ weight pawrt works…mommy hasn’t lost anythin’. I’s mean, I’s didn’t put her on a scale or nuffin’, but…

Dezi: Of course me is Raena, me’s always right. Me’s older and wiser and…

Raena: You’re old alright sissy. I’s not so sure ‘bout that wiser thing, but ifin that’s what you wanna tell yourself…

Dezi: RaenaBelle Mayce, that’s not very nice.

Raena: Sorry sissy. Do you want a hug?

Me’s gettin’ purrlenty of luvvin’ from mommy.

Dezi: No Raena, stay back. Your ‘pawlogy’s enuff. By the way, do you see anythin’ innerestin’ outside?

Raena: Nope sissy, not a thing. I’s haven’t even seen any birds. I’s did see one of those annoyin’ gnats in your brekky a while ago tho’. Ifin you don’t want the gnats to steal it, you better go claim it.

Dezi: What ‘bout yours Raena? Ifin they’re tryin’ to steal me’s brekky, then they’re purrobaly in yours too.

Raena: Nah sissy, I’s finished mine’s a few minutes ago and I’s even had a few bites of yours. (Raena snickers a bit as she licks her paw and wipes her face) Guess I’s was purretty hungry this meownin’. Meowin’ of, we’re purretty Blest to have such tasty noms. And a mommy who only wants the bestest fur us.

Dezi: That we are Raena, that we are. And, a few of our facebook furiends got together and donated some green papers so mommy could have gas money to get back to the dentist fur some adjustments on her dentures. We sure do ‘purreciate everyone that helped. Meowin’ of furiends, we have the bestest furiends in the universe.

Raena: Oh sissy, I’s luvs our furiends so much. I’s wish we could all have a big get together and meet up fur to fur to flesh. Wouldn’t that be just wonderful?

Me’s ready fur more luvvin’ mommy.

Dezi: It would Raena. But fur now, we’ll just have to settle fur readin’ their stories and seein’ their fotos.
