Blest Sunday: We Honor And Salute You

Dezi:  MeOW  C’mon Raena, today’s a very special Blest Sunday.

          Raena:  Really sissy? What’s so special ‘bout today?

Dezi:  It’s Veteran’s Day, Raena. A day we take to ‘member the soldiers who fought, and many gave their lives so we could be free from tyranny. So many brave men, women and anipals gave their lives on distant shores, so that loved ones and even strangers like us could live our lives free from fear of wars in our own home. Me thinks we furget how things could be. We’ve been free fur so long that me thinks we sometimes take our Country’s greatness and freedoms fur granted.

          Raena: I’s think you’re right sissy. It’s not purretty to think ‘bout young men, women and anipals lying in a trench on some foreign soil bleeding and dying. To think ‘bout them bein’ lonely and scared, and away from their families and loved ones; not knowin’ ifin they’ll ever see them again. To think ‘bout them swearin’ an oath to purrtect us…to die fur complete strangers. Soldiers who never gave a second thought to goin’ to bad places and facin’ bad people. Standing their ground and sayin’ “As long as I’m here, no one is going to hurt you”.

Dezi:  So true Raena. There’s so much hate and discord in our Country right now. So many peeps sayin’ and doin’ things that would get them thrown into prison or killed in lesser Countries. Peeps tryin’ to take away the very freedoms that those soldiers bled and died for. The truth is, it’s a slap in the face, it’s like spittin’ on the graves of all those who bravely fought and lost their lives to secure those freedoms and make our Country great. It makes us so sad to hear ‘bout our vets bein’ treated badly.

          Raena:  I’s think all those soldiers who died to make America great are turnin’ over in their graves at some of the nonsense goin’ on right now, sissy. In our house, we bleed red white and blue. We honor our flag and each and every soldier who willingly defends/defended our Country and us from our enemies. We are so Blest to have been born in such an amazing Country. We are Blest to have a mommy who has taught us the price that was paid to make our Nation great.

Dezi:  Yes Raena, we are indeed Blest. We fank and salute each and every veteran and their families today and every day. We fank each and every soldier who serves us now. You may not know us, and we may not know your name, but we ask God to Bless and keep you each day. While you’re watchin’ over us, God is watchin’ over you. As we do each week, we’d like to remind you all to Give Thanks fur the Blessings in your lives. and we wanna fank you all fur bein’ Blessings in ours.

MeOW WooHoo It’s furinally Furiday!!! And let me tell ya’, it’s cold and yucky and gray outside. There’s like a bazillion dead leaves all over the place. Everytime mommy opens the door they try to get inside. Ya’ know, some places have these really purretty leaves, but not us. Nope, our leaves are all one color…dead. That reminds me, in case you missed our announcement, Service Cat Furidays will return in the new year. We’re just takin’ a little break. What with the holidays comin’ and all, we thought mommy’s brain could use a little rest. After all, she is the one that has to do all the research and stuffs fur our Service Cat postys.           Wha’ch’a doin’ sissy? 

 

Nuffin’ Raena. Me was just remindin’ peeps that our educational Furidays will be back. Ya’ know, lots of peeps come here on Furidays that don’t come by the rest of the week. Me just wanted to remind ‘em that things would be back to normal after the holidays. Me’s favorite holidays are Fanksgivin’ and Christmas; and they’ll both be here befur ya’ know it.

          I’s can’t wait fur Christmas sissy. But furst, we’ve got your birthday/gotchaday pawrty next week. Me and mommy are gonna be workin’ all weekend to put the final touches together. Since we spent so long without the innernet we didn’t get to it earlier.

Me’s gettin’ really x’cited Raena. Me can’t wait to see what you have planned. Me sure hopes it’s better than your business plans. Come to think of it, you haven’t had one of those in a while. What’s up? 

 

          Well sissy, it’s not fur the lack of thinkin’, but t’ween plannin’ your pawrty and mine’s surgery, I’s just haven’t had the time to put anythin’ together to purrpose. 

 

Me thought fur sure you’d have somethin’ planned befur the holidays Raena. We need to do somethin’ so we can get each other and mommy a purresent.

          Actually sissy, I’s just thought we could go with some of those Purrs With A Purr-Puss. You know how much mommy luvs a good purr. And fanky fankfully, we don’t need any green papers to buy ‘em. I’s been checkin’ the ads and even ifin we started a business now we wouldn’t be able to raise enuff to buy anythin’. Y, I’s couldn’t believe the store’s chargin’ almost $3.00 a pound fur a turkey tom lurkey. I’s didn’t even check to see what they were chargin’ fur hams. ‘Specially since the crazy peeps ‘round here just approved another couple of tax increases. (Raena shakes her head) I’s just don’t get it?. We already have the highest taxes of anypawdy at 10 purrcent and now they wanna go and add another 3/4’s cent to it.

 

Well then, Purrs With A Purr-Puss it is Raena. Maybe we can think of somethin’ else to go with it t’ween now and then. Me doesn’t know where these peeps get the money fur all these taxes. Anyways, as mommy always says, Ya’ can’t miss what ya’ don’t have. 

 

          True sissy, mommy says that a lot. So, ya’ wanna go play? I’s have a little time befur I’s need to get back to mine’s plannin’.

Chatting Cats: The Internet’s What…

Hey, is anypawdy out there? It’s me, RaenaBelle. Meowllo? Is anypawdy in here? Sissy, come here, I’s need your help. Purrleeeeease…Nuffin’ be workin’. I’s can’t get anythin’ on this machine to work. I’s tried all the browsers and I’s pushed buttons that I’s don’t even know what they’re fur…and nuffin’. What’s wrong with it sissy?

          Why are you askin’ me Raena? How should me know what’s up with the computer? Why don’t you ask mommy?

 

She’s busy. She keeps pokin’ a pin in that box with all the lights (modem) and tryin’ to call somepawdy, sissy.

          (Mommy A finally picks up the cell phone to call the internet provider after trying to reset the modem numerous times to no avail. The automated system picks up and asks a lot of questions, altho’ the opportunity to speak with a live person isn’t one of them.)  Uh Oh Raena, me has a feelin’ this day just went from bad to worse. Mommy hates talkin’ to those silly machines. And did you hear it tell her that a live operator wouldn’t have any more infurmation than it did? Seems the innernet’s out all over ‘round here. Guess it’s a good thing we got that smarty pants fone or we wouldn’t know that even.

The innernet’s out?!! What do you mean the innernet’s out?!! How does that even happen? What are all our furiends doin’? How are we s’posed to check our mail, or edit our fotos or get our posty out? How are we gonna survive? We neeeeeeeed the innernet, sissy. I’s got plans to make and things to do and… 

 

          Slow down Raena and take a deep breath. Furst of all, the whole innernet ain’t out all over the world, just ours. Well, and maybe everypawdy within a hunnerd miles of us. And, the silly machine said they’re aware of it and they’re tryin’ to fix it. So, hopefully it’ll be back on soon. Most ‘purrtantly, our furiends will unnerstand. These things just happen sometimes, and there’s nuffin’ we could’a done to stop it. Hopefully, it won’t be out long. 

 

How can you be so calm, sissy? I’s still have so much left to do to get ready fur your pawrty next week.

Ya’ know, cuz you didn’t really get to have a pawrty fur your special day this year, me was thinkin’ we could both enjoy this bash, ‘specially since you’re feelin’ better.

          ‘Course RaenaBelle, what are big susfurs fur?. (Dezi mumbles under her breath) Besides, mommy would make me share whether me wants to or not. Anyways, (Dezi turns and meows to Raena) Me’s sure there’ll be purrlenty of food and fun fur everyone.  (Mommy A picks up Dezi and puts her in her harness) MeOW  Wait a minute, where are we goin’? The last kitty out that door didn’t come back lookin’ too good. Me’s not goin’…Hisssssssss

          Ah, votin’. ‘kay, me doesn’t mind goin’ then. You can’t go till your eyes are all better Raena. Mommy doesn’t wanna take any chances with infection ‘n stuffs. Don’t worry, we won’t be long, we’re just goin’ up the street. (A short time later, Dezi and mommy A return from the polls with news) 

          RaenaBelle, oh, there you are. Hey we heard the innernet’s out till some time tomorrow (Wednesday). We ran into the innernet fixer at the polls and he said they had a transfurmer out and had to order a pawrt. So, c’mon, let’s go play with our nanners.

We’ll have our computer back tomorrow. Till then, we can live like we did befur tech invaded our house. C’mon, me will show ya’ how.

Blest Sunday: Thanks For Being The Best Friends In The Universe

MeOW  (Dezi follows mommy and Raena mumbling to herself)  Kittens, Me sure wishes the weather would make up it’s mind. One minute it’s cold and the next we’re pantin’. Me thinks me may have gotten mommy’s “pussonal summer disease” (hot flashes). Ifin only me could roll up me’s furs like she does her pants legs. Hmmmpht  And what’s up with the clocks? Mommy keeps goin’ from room to room tryin’ to figger out why some say one thing and others say another.

          Sissy, who are you meowin’ too? And what’s wrong? Don’t you know it’s Blest Sunday? I’s can’t wait to count our Blessings today. 

 

Who can count anythin’ over that squeaky fan? It’s on me’s last nerve!!!

 

          Aaaaaw Sissy, c’mon, snap out of it. You luvs Blest Sunday’s; and you fur sure know we’re Blest. Mommy’s gonna try to put some more oil on the fan, so hopefully it’ll quit squealin’ soon. And I’s asked the crazy lady in the box (Alexa dot) ‘bout the clocks and learned that we were s’posed to turn our clocks back last night, so that’s why some of ‘em are wrong. As fur mommy’s purrsonal summer’s, I’s don’t think those are contagious. Besides, it’s your birthday/gotchaday month; that’s like the biggest Blessing we kitties can ever have.

Ya’ know, me also wanted to meow Fank you to awnty Anonymous and awnty Vonda fur sendin’ me some green papers fur me’s birthday. Me knows how ‘purrtant it was fur you to have your surgery, but me really does ‘purreciate that they wanted me to have somethin’ special. Me’s birthday kind’a got lost in the fray, but they helped to make me feel ‘purrtant too. Me even got birthday cards from Pipo and Dalton and Valentine.

          You’re always special sissy. That’s why we’re throwin’ you a pawsum pawrty on the 14th. Anyways, I’s got some Blessings I’s wanna give fanky fanks fur too. And fanky fanks to all of you fur the luvs, well wishes and purrayers. Mommy says I’s on the road to recovery and gettin’ better and better every day. Altho’ mine’s eyes still hurt a little, they’re hurtin’ in a whole new place. But, I’s can see and blink like never befur. It’s amazin’.

You know, besides bein’ me’s birthday and gotchaday month, it’s also Fankgivin’ month here in the U.S.. Me’s very fankful we were furtunate enuff to be born in this great Country called America.
