I’s tryin’ to ketch these gnats sissy. They’re botherin’ mommy. She put bleach down the sink and sprayed the trash can last night, but they just don’t seem to die. Y, There was even one in our drinkin’ water…yuck.

Raena watches the ceiling fan atop boxes

Yeah Raena, we don’t know how to get rid of ‘em. Me will never unnerstand why they had to leave the door open the whole time they were workin’ on our ‘pawrtment. Maybe ifin they’d shut the door, we wouldn’t have so many pesky pests. Fankfully, the spray mommy used killed most of the spiders and scorpions, but there just doesn’t seem to be anythin’ to get rid of gnats and roly polies. Anyways, mommy says, this too shall pass. So, let’s get on with our Blessings.

  • I so pray your mommy doesn’t have to fight to get what she rightly deserves. Can’t wait to see your new tree. I’m sure it’s wonderful as you all are. Please tell mommy that the only way I’ve gotten rid of gnats and rolly pollies is to get a super can of fly spray and most of the ones I’ve looked at kills gnats as well not sure on those rolly bugs though. You could try a fly killer that’s strong on them and I’ve also found that they love those bigger ant traps with sticky stuff in and not those really tiny white ant traps or even those sticky types of fly catcher. As a last resort for the gnats is to get a couple of those fly catchers that you pull down on after you hang it on the ceiling. I don’t believe they are really good for kitties though so you have to hang them in a corner somewhere you usually don’t go to and where there is nothing that could allow you girls to get highlights enough to where you could reach it from. It really is a great gnat catcher but I only used them one spring/summer and we were opening the
Windows our first time only to find that the windows that had screens had holes and gaps where the last owner tried to nail them in and we found one window had no storm window. Just the upper and lower one that allowed all kinds of flying bugs right up that gap. So they do work really well for catching just about any flying bugs it’s still messy. Bless you girls and your mommy too!

  • It must be great to be home, even with a few problems, and i am so thankful you have a new cat tree and other delights.

To get rid of the gnats, make certain no fresh food is left out, and garbage is taken out daily. Grab a clear plastic tub, like one that comes from a store that holds, say, potato salad. Put in water, a bit of vinegar or some orange or lemon juice, and a drop of dish detergent. Cover it with plastic wrap, very tightly, and put a rubber band around the mouth of the container to keep the wrap very tight. Use a fork to pierce a few holes in the wrap, and leave it in the kitchen near the sink with no lights on anywhere else but the one over the sink.

In the morning, you will find a ton (more or less) of the gnats have gotten in there, attracted by the smell of the vinegar, and have not been able to find their way back out and so have drowned. Dump it out and start over. Keep doing that, and making sure the garbage is taken out every day, until they are gone.

If you find they are near the litter box, they may be laying eggs there as well as in the garbage can, so make sure it is changed out every single day, or scooped and dumped out of the house, until they are gone.

We fight this battle at least once a year, and that’s how you win the war!

    • Fanks fur the tips. Mommy made a solution of red wine vinegar and dish soap and is emptyin’ it offen and there’s hunnerds every day. And yes, she takes the trash out daily. She made the mistake of leavin’ a fresh loaf of bread on the counter and they got into it the furst day, so she had to throw that out. Hopefully, we’ll kill ’em all soon. big hugs

      Luv ya’

  • Charlee: “Wow, those gnats sound really troublesome! Not at all like welcome insect intruders, like moths.”
Chaplin: “Oh, yes, we love it when moths get in the house. Or crane flies.”
Charlee: “Yes those too! Mama and Dada don’t seem to appreciate moths or crane flies properly, though.”
Chaplin: “Well, that’s because they lack our finely-honed staring skills.”

  • It’s good to see you two as always. I hate those gnats too. Pesky little critters.

I hope you get all your things replaced that were damaged or stolen. It’s a shame.

Have a purrfect Sunday Selfie. My best to your mom. ♥

  • It’s great to see you ladies all back home and settling in. We get gnats too, but they come in on our plants and seem to love hanging around anywhere like wash basins and showers. Ours haven’t truly gone yet and come back every few days or so.
Anyways, you sound like you have some awesome new gifts to play with—especially that furry rabbit toy. I like the furry mice the best 😉
You all have a blessed week, and heres hoping you get recompense for all the damage and woe that was caused.
