Hey dearest furiends welcome to a brand new Blest Sunday. You know we always feel Blest. Mommy says with the current state of the world, it’s bestest to remember to stop, breathe and take notice of the Blessings in your life. It’s so easy to get down and overwhelmed anytime; but, when everything around you is screaming the bads and sads, it’s hard not to fall into a deep depression. Now, you might be asking yourself, “Just what does a kitty know about depression?” Well, let me tell ya’. While we kitties may not understand the news, we do get depressed. And, we also often feel the emotions of our humans.

 

 

 

 

          That you do sweety. You are very empathetic as are many kitties.

 

 

 

Empathetic mommy? I’s not sure what that means, but I’s luvs you sooooooo much, I’s just want you to be as happy as I’s am. I’s always feel when you have the sads and wanna make it all better.

 

 

 

          Honey, just having you in my life makes me happy. Maybe you can explain a few things that can make kitties depressed and how their peeps can help them.

 

 

 

Sure mommy, I’s can do that. Sometimes changes in our environment can make a kitty depressed. You know, like ifin we lose somepawdy that’s a constant in our lives. Whether that loss is permanent like death or just somepawdy moving out, like a student going off to school. Ifin the death is sudden, we fur sure don’t understand why that person or furry family member is no longer around and we miss them. We fur sure don’t understand why peeps suddenly move away from their thimgs and the kitties who luvs them. You know, us kitties aren’t big fans of change.

 

 

 

 

 

Ifin a person or other furry household member is sick befur dying, we usually sense this. Some of us handle it well and never skip a beat. But fur those of us that feel the loss, mommy says explaining it to us helps. We might not understand the words or their meaning, but mommy says we must understand something because she’s personally seen animals respond positively. Another thing you can do to help kitty is leave scent markers out to help comfurt us. As time passes, the scent grows faint and we adjust to the loss. And, be patient. Understand that we don’t grasp things the way humans do and just luvs us and give us time. We might even miss a meal or two, but should start eating at least a small amount by the third meal. If we continue to fast, please seek attention from kitty’s V-E-T.

 

 

 

 

 

We might also get depressed ifin we’re bored. Us kitties are curious creatures, and as such, we need stimulation to keep us healthy in body and mind. Toys, scratchers, cat trees, and of course interaction with our humans goes a long way to keeping us from boredom and depression. Lots of kitties like to look out windows. Ifin your view is really solitary, you could help a kitty out by putting up bird feeders, bird baths or some other wildlife attractant. Be careful you don’t attract the wrong kind of wildlife tho’, we wouldn’t want a bear on the front porch of course. And remember, kitties being very territorial might not welcome a host of stray kitties taking over our yard. Be sensitive to your kitty’s needs and act accordingly. 

 

 

 

          Very good advice angel. I think you’d love a yard full of kitty playmates. You’re always very welcoming when strays do show up looking for food.

 

 

 

Yeah mommy, I’s would love a yard full of playmates. The last time I’s saw Mrs. N’s kitties I’s wanted to play. Unfortunately, they weren’t interested. Spook wanted you to skritch her behind and Jubal just wanted to steal your lap from me. Hmmmmpht  I’s do hope when we find mine’s new helper, he likes to play. I’s been checking out the internets fur some new games and adventures. Do you reckon he’ll be here fur mine’s birthday this year? 

 

 

 

 

 

          Well baby, I don’t know. but, why don’t we throw you a big party? Would you like that?
