Straight From The Dead Sea

Well!!! Oh, meowllo everypawdy and welcome to miserable Monday. Seems kinda strange me would have a Blest Sunday and then turn round and have a miserable Monday huh? Well it’s just a sayin’, but ifin you was here lookin’ out me’s front door you would think it was miserable too. We don’t have many flowers in bloom ‘round here, but da ones we did got really beat up in yesfurdays’ storm. Me had all these online plans, but we couldn’t even get da catputer online; there was flashin’ red lights everywhere. Pawrently dat’s bad. Those lights are ‘posed to be steady green. So mommy turned it off and said it was too dangerous fur us to be workin’ on da ‘lectrical stuffs. Well ifin me couldn’t be online, then me would just take up me’s spot behind da chair again. MOL

Dezi cocks head to the side in thought

Anyways, a while back we were asked ifin we would like to try some Dead Sea products by a company called SOOS Pets in Israel. You know sis Lexi used to scratch herself and make little sores cuz of da itchy skin she had befur we got da new humidifiers. Well SOOS has a product called Mineral Enriched Rescue Cream dat can be used fur dat very thing; so mommy said yes, we would luv to give da products a try.  Lexi with Soos Pets Rescue Cream on chin

When it arrived sis Lexi had scratched a little sore on her chin dat was purrfect fur tryin’ out this cream. Mommy took a little dab and applied it to sissy’s chin. Da Rescue Cream is a very thick textured paste and is white in color. It has a very light fragrance, and a little goes a long way. Unfurtunately sissy left us befur da cream healed her wound. But we weren’t through testing. Me told you all dat me had (accidently) attacked mommy durin’ all da confusion after sissy left, so mommy started using the Rescue Cream on herself. Hey it’s all natural and there’s nothing in it dat says it can’t be used fur humans too. Mommy decided to focus on one scratch in purrticular. A few fotos later and mommy hoped da healing process had started. There was no stinging or pain associated with the application of da cream, and da slight fragrance dissipated quickly. Mommy applied da cream twice daily fur ‘bout a week befur noticing any changes in da scratch. It took a little over a week to completely heal, and she does have a scar, but remember this was a scratch on a human and not a hot spot, etc..

All in all mommy liked da SOOS Pets Mineral Enriched Rescue Cream. Because of da texture and color you can see where it’s applied. It’s a nice size at 1.69 ounces, and as we said earlier, a little goes a long way. We always luv cruelty free and natural products. So me gives it a paw up and mommy gives it a thumb up. You can check out all da SOOS Pets products here.

What’s Buddy gonna be eating next?

 Chewy Logo

Well just as me purromissed, today we’s gonna wrap up Buddy’s 30 day challenge on da Holistic Blend Chicken and Salmon cat food. Ifin you missed any of our posts ‘bout this you can read them here and here. Furst let me remind ya’ dat Buddy was eatin’a really cheap and badly furmulated store brand food. Mr. W be really cheap when it comes to Buddy. He straightens up every now and then when mommy gets on to him, but then he falls back into old habits. So when this oppurrtunity came ‘round we were really glad he agreed to let Buddy eat da new noms and committed to at least a month. As you know we don’t eat kibble in our house, so Buddy was da purrfect candidate. And since he would be transitioning from a poor quality food to a high quality food we had hoped to see improvements in his coat, activity levels and over all health.

Holistic Blend Cat Food

And here’s da claims:

Key Benefits

  • Hypoallergenic recipe for all life stages

  • Omega 3 and 6 fatty acids promote healthy skin and coat

  • Provides low dietary magnesium

  • Highly digestible and palatable

  • Quality ingredients allow for smaller feeding portions

  • Promotes healthy stools

  • Promotes balanced urinary pH

  • Stimulates the breakdown of ammonia to reduce stool and urine odor

  • No animal by-products, antibiotics or growth hormones

  • No corn, wheat, sugar or salt

Me told you dat Buddy liked da noms and ate them right up. Mr. W didn’t transition Buddy slowly, he just took away da old food and started da Holistic Blend. So what changes did mr. W and mommy see in Buddy? Well da furst is dat even with da immediate change in food, Buddy didn’t have any tummy upsets or loose stools. Dat’s always a Yay and cause fur a paw up. Of course we’s in purrime shedding season ‘round here, but mr. W sed dat Buddy seemed to shed less, and his coat was lots softer and shinier. Mommy agreed. When she went up to check on Buddy his coat did seem much softer and shinier. Mr. W sed there wasn’t any changes in da amount or smell of Buddy’s urine or stools, so we can’t say dat claim is valid. Mr. W did say dat Buddy was eating less but getting full. And mommy had insisted on a scheduled feeding routine as opposed to the free feeding method Buddy was accustomed to. Buddy took to the scheduled feeding routine like a champ.

Buddy sniffing at the Holistic Blend in the measuring cup before it gets put in his plate

As me sed befur, da Holistic Blend doesn’t contain carrageenan or da gums, so ifin your humans are concerned ‘bout those controversial ingredients, they can choose Holistic Blend without worry. A 3 lb. bag costs $14.99 and da 10 lb. bag is $32.99. Buddy is a big kitty and typically eats ‘bout an 8 lb. bag of food every month so we received da 10 lb. bag fur him to try. Now me knows you all wanna know ifin mr. W is gonna order this food fur Buddy now dat da challenge be over. Me told you all dat he asked mommy to check da price and let him know how much it would cost to keep Buddy on da Holistic Blend. So da final verdict is…Yep, mr. W just ordered a new bag fur Buddy. It should be here any day now. WooHoo Buddy gave da Holistic Blend 4 paws up, and mr. W gave it 2 fumms up. It’s a winner in their house fur sure.

Buddy chowing down on his Holistic Blend dinner

Mommy sed she still hated dat da furst couple ingredients was chicken meal and rice, but dat doesn’t make it a bad food as chicken meal is reported to be higher in protein than da meat itself. So all in all mommy gave it a fumm up too. Me never got to try it, but it sure smelled good. So there ya’ have it, our final thoughts on da Holistic Blend chicken and salmon cat food. As always you can shop with confidence at Chewy. They have lots of purroducts to meet da needs of your furry or furryless furmily member. Duck Monday #ChewyInfluencer

Meowllo everypawdy, and Monday too. Yep, it’s another miserable Monday but me has somethin’ yummy to tell ya’ ‘bout, so dat makes it a little better, right? As pawrt of da Chewy blogging family we get to try different purroducts each month and tell you all ‘bout them. And this month was no different. Mommy chose one purroduct with each of us in mind. Of course we both would eat either purroduct. Dat bein’ sed, mommy chose fur me da Nature’s Variety Instinct Raw Boost Duck Minis Cat Treats.

Dezi close up on arm of chair

Chewy Logo

Me likes duck, so mommy thought this would be a good choice. They are freeze dried in little pellet shapes. Most are bite size fur da majority of kitties; but they are easily broken up into a smaller bite or crumbled to put over a meal. One thing to keep in mind with these purrticular treats is dat they contain other ingredients besides just Duck. Here’s da ingredient list:

Duck (including ground duck bone), turkey, turkey liver, turkey heart, pumpkinseeds, carrots, apples, butternut squash, ground flaxseed, montmorillonite clay, dried kelp, broccoli, apple cider vinegar, salmon oil, mixed tocopherols, rosemary extract, blueberries, dried chicory root

Nature's Variety Raw Boost Minis duck cat treats in 2.25 oz. bag

Me is purretty picky ‘bout da size of me’s bite and shape too. Mommy offered me a couple of these as a treat, but me didn’t show any innerest. So she added them to me’s noms and after breaking each bite in two, me gobbled them down. They are purrlenty tasty. They also come in chicken fur those of ya’ dat like a less gamey bird. Here’s some key benefits taken from da Chewy.com site:

Key Benefits

  • 100% freeze dried raw ingredients including real duck, turkey, carrots and apples
  • Great taste and health benefits
  • All-natural with no artificial colors, flavors or preservatives
  • Grain-free and gluten-free
  • No corn, wheat, soy or fillers
  • Only two calories per piece
  • Made in the USA

So me gives these all 4 paws up. They taste good and be filling. Now me will say dat you purrobly don’t wanna be addin’ water to these, they don’t reconstitute very well. They be a little spongy, and dat’s after a few hours. Yep, takes dat long. So what did mommy think ‘bout these treats? Let’s ask her.

Dezi chowing down on her freeze dried noms with Instinct duck

Thank you baby. I’m really glad you like them. Since changing your diet, I’m trying to keep a variety of proteins in your plate. I like that there are no preservatives, corn, or grains inside them. And I really like that they are made here in the U.S.. As with most cat foods these days they do include a multitude of veggies that you don’t need, but that’s in almost every food these days. So all in all I give the Instinct Raw Boost Minis Duck treats 2 thumbs up.

Dezi licking her lips over her dinner of freeze dried noms
Yummmmmmm These are lip lickin’ good.

Fank you mommy. Dat’s rare fur you to give somethin’ both fumms up; so me guesses me will be havin’ more of these in da future. You can get your own at Chewy.com. They be on sale right now. They come in a 2.25 oz bag, and da duck be $7.19 and da chicken is $7.99. Course ifin you add them to your auto ship you can save a little more. They also make these fur da doggies. As always, Chewy offers speedy free shipping fur all orders over $49.00 and a low flat rate fur all orders less than $49.00. And Chewy has da bestest Customer Service reps ‘round. You’re never stuck with a purroduct your anipal won’t eat or use, so you can shop with confidence. You can also edit your auto ship at any time. Me’s joinin’ up with da Golden Woofs fur da Chewy blog hop where you can find all da Chewy bloggers monthly reviews.

Well me will wrap it up now, me’s gotta go eat. Da Instinct Raw Boost minis were a big hit. Ifin you’re tryin’ to switch your kitty from kibble to somethin’ more healthy, these would make a great transitional offering. Course they would also make a great treat.

Buddy And The Holistic Blend #ChewyInfuencer

Well it’s Monday and time fur an update on Buddy’s 30 day challenge. As part of da Chewy bloggin’ furmily we were given da oppurrtunity to try a pawsum new cat food. Since it was kibble and you all know mommy won’t give me kibble ever again, we asked ifin it would be okay to let Buddy take it. So after we got him all signed up and received da noms, his challenge began. It’s been really cold and wet here lately so mommy trekkin’ up to mr. W’s to take fotos has been really funny to watch. You know since da wheelchair’s electric she has to walk up there. And of course we have armadillos and possums so there’s purrlenty of holes fur her cane to fall into and make mommy wobble all over da place. MOL Anyways, we’s here to talk ’bout Buddy today. Ifin you missed our furst posty, you can read it here. We told ya’ dat Buddy doesn’t eat a great quality food on a regular basis so da Holistic Blend Chicken and Salmon dry kibble cat food was gonna be a huge step up in his diet. All paws and fingers were crossed dat he would eat it. Mommy scooped out ’bout a cup of it to let us try it as a treat. Mommy had told mr. W to watch fur changes in Buddy’s activity levels, coat feel and look, stools and general overall well being; and to report back anything he noticed. And of course mommy subjects him to a thorough once over exam everytime she goes up there…Buddy, not mr. W. Mommy also made mr. W implement scheduled feedings and to use da resealable zipper to keep da food fresh fur da whole month. So now dat da business is outta da way let’s get on with da good stuff.

Buddy poses with the Holistic Blend cat food bag

Did Buddy like da food and was he eatin’ it? Well, let’s ask him.

Buddy checking out his empty food bowl
What? It’s empty and I’s starvin’!!!

Buddy: Fanks Dezi. Let me say furst off dat I’s really likin’ this scheduled meal time. I didn’t at furst cuz I’s was used to nibblin’ whenever I wanted. But hey, this scheduled thing means da food in my bowl is always fresh and tasty. And I gotta tell ya’ this Holistic Blend cat food is purretty nommy. It sure hits da spot. And I’s been feelin’ better too. My skin hasn’t been as itchy lately, and my furs seem lots softer. Even awnty Audra sed my furs felt and looked better. I’s even been more playful with my daddy lately. And daddy sed I’s seem to be sheddin’ a little less too. My litterbox habits haven’t changed, least not so dat anypawdy would notice. But I’s do like da food really well.

Buddy sniffing at the Holistic Blend in the measuring cup before it gets put in his plate
C’mon daddy what’cha’ waitin’ fur? Just give it to me now.

Thanks Buddy, glad you be likin’ da noms. And yes, mommy talked ’bout how your furs be lookin’ much better these days. She also sed you looked so cute waitin’ fur mr. W to put your noms in your bowl. Don’t’cha’ just hate it when you’re waitin’ to eat and mommy’s takin’ fotos? Da noms be so close you can smell ’em and almost taste ’em, but there she goes, snap, snap, snappin’ away. Mommy sez you was really patient and unlike me didn’t holler at her once to hurry up. Me still hasn’t gotten to try them, cuz mommy just hates dat da furst ingredient is chicken meal ‘stead of chicken, and then rice. Chicken is in da list, mommy just likes it to be da furst ingredient when da name sez “chicken”. Anyways, mommy talked with mr. W and he sed da pawdee box stench seemed to be da same. Da reason we mention dat is cuz one of da claims made by Holistic Blend is dat it “stimulates the breakdown of ammonia to reduce urine and stool odor.” However Buddy’s overall appearance seems to be much better. We’ll update you again at da end of da 30 days and let ya’ know if anything changed. We should note dat ‘stead of a slow transition, mr. W switched Buddy to da Holistic Blend food by serving it alone and taking away his other food. Buddy did start eating the Holistic Blend immediately without any tummy upsets. So based on his immediate acceptance we would say dat it is very palatable.

Buddy watching his meal being poured into his bowl
C’mon now, hurry up daddy.

You can find da Holistic Blend at Chewy fur $14.99 fur a 3 pound bag and $32.99 fur a 10 pound bag. They also make a grain free turkey option fur cats, and they have canine formulas as well. Chewy has lots of great purroducts fur all your anipal furmily members, so take a look around while you’re there. And they have a great auto ship purrogram so you never run out as well as speedy low cost or free shipping. All orders of $49.00 and over ship furee.
