Tell All Tuesday: Keeping The Gut Healthy During Stressful Holidays

Hey everypawdy, it’s me, RaenaBelle, comin’ to ya’ live from the ranch. Can you believe it? It’s almost Christmas!!! I’s so x’cited, I’s can barely contain mine’s self. I’s been slidin’ down the hall on the piddle pads and zoomin’ up and down the liberty tree like a hunnerd times a day. Mommy says I’s make her head spin sometimes. I’s not seen her head spinnin’, but maybe I’s was zoomin’ too fast. Let me tell ya’, it’s turned cold, cold, cold again and I’s really been enjoyin’ cuddle time with mommy. Ya’ know, that’s mine’s favorite thing in the whole world.

          RaenaBelle, take a breath. Me’s x’cited too, but ya’ don’t see me flyin’ ‘round like a hooligan.

Well of course not sissy, we’re kitties, we can’t fly. ‘Member, I’s learned that one the other day.  

 

          Yeah Raena, me ‘members. But, me wasn’t meanin’ me was literally flyin’, it’s just a figger of speech.  

 

Another figger of speech, sissy? Why is it okay fur you to use those figgers and not me? Every time I’s use one, you make fun of me or try to correct me. 

 

          Not always Raena, just the times you use one wrong, or say somethin’ really stupid.

I’s not stupid sissy. Mommy says that’s not nice to call somepawdy stupid.

          Me’s not callin’ you stupid Raena, just some of the things you meow. There’s a big difference. Mommy says even the smartest peeps in the world sometimes say stupid things. Anyways, we need to tell everypawdy ‘bout the new stuffs we’ve been tryin’ out from Tomlyn. The holidays can be a stressful time fur peeps and anipals alike. What with all the hustle and bustle of shoppin’, decoratin’ and visitin’/guests, our tummies can get upset, or we can get nervous or scared. There might even be days when our schedules get thrown all out of whack. During those times, good supplements can make all the difference. Now we don’t get lots of treats ‘round here, but the truth is, we’re kind’a picky and don’t like a lot of treats. So, it makes it kind’a hard fur mommy to know what to get fur us.

Ain’t that the truth sissy. And sometimes we’ll eat one treat once and never touch it again. But one thing we do like is a good sprinklin’ of pre/probiotics on our noms.           We can be picky, but we really liked these. They say to feed one packet mixed with food and water daily. So, mommy uses half the packet fur brekky and the rest fur dinner. While these are help maintain our gut health during stressful times, they’re purrfect fur every day use as well. Mommy thinks they’re a bit on the ‘spensive side, but she does luvs to see us gobble down our meals. And mommy’s always happy when we’re happy. We also tried out Tomlyn’s tasty hairball treats and paste as well as the sterile eye wash. So far, we’re all paws up fur the Tomlyn products.

Blest Sunday: The Blessing Train Is Coming

MeOW  C’mon RaenaBelle, it’s Blest Sunday. Time to count our Blessings. And, since it’s also December, me thought it would be pawsum to bring back the Blessing Train fur our countdown to Christmas. Our sweet furiend Valentine said he would join us. Last year we counted down 12 days of Christmas; but there’s so much goin’ on ‘round the blogospere and the real world so me thought this year we would just run the train on Sundays. And…

          Oh sissy, this is gonna be so much fun. 

 

Yep Raena, me luvs it when our furiends get together to celebrate. Meowin’ of celebrations, we oughtta celebrate the fact that mommy’s feelin’ better. She even helped me with me’s audition tape fur the cat scouts choir. It’s a wonder we got anythin’ done what with you all up in her face and stuffs. 

 

          I’s just wanted to be in the recordin’ too sissy. Ya’ll looked so funny with your headfones on singin’ along to nuffin’. Least it sounded like nuffin’ from where I’s sat. I’s finally got close enuff to the headfones to hear the music.  It was kind’a like one of those recordin’ studios I’s see on tv, x’cept it was right here on the ranch (our apartment).

When was that Raena? When you head butted the microphone or bit mommy’s nose? Anyways, in spite of all the furry inneruptions, we got me’s audition finished. We even had enuff time to check out some tracks fur mommy to record. Last time, we got some requests fur mommy to sing some country songs. Long ago in another life, mommy sang with several different bands. Things have changed a lot since then. But, we’ve picked out a few songs that we think everypawdy will like and we’re even addin’ a fun Christmas song. We’ll be postin’ those fur ya’ soon. 

 

          Does that mean more singin’ with the funny headfones sissy?

Me isn’t sure how mommy’s gonna do it yet Raena, but whatever she does, it’s bound to fun. Me will say, mommy’s old country, but ifin ya’ have any requests, she’ll try to sing ‘em; just let us know in the comments below. 

 

          Mommy can sing anythin’, sissy. I’s luvs it when she sings to us. It makes me feel all warm and purry inside.  

 

Me too Raena. Well, me thinks we oughtta get the Blessing Train fired up. We also wanna fank awnty Susan fur her gifty. And me wants to fank all of you who sent green papers fur me’s Birthday/Gotchaday. Mommy says me’s gift should be here tomorrow. Me can’t hardly wait.

MeOW  Hey Raena, have you been workin’ on any new plans? Like maybe some business we could start, or some way fur us to get more treats? You know our furiends seem to get a lot of treats. We even got asked the other day how we could survive without treats.

          Really sissy? Did you tell ‘em that we never got many treats, so we never developed a taste fur ‘em? We fur sure don’t like those temptation things that they make those stupid commercials ‘bout. I’s just hate that one with the guy sittin’ on the upstairs balcony throwin’ one at a time out fur some poor kitty havin’ to jump up from the ground to ketch it. Hmmmmpht Ain’t no piece of kibble that tasty.

Yeah Raena, me’s with you on that one. But that ain’t the only silly commercial. Me doesn’t know what you see in watchin’ so much tv?  

 

 

 

          Oh sissy, there’s just so much to learn. Did you know our furiend Marigold was from the hood? Word is she could teach us a thing or two ‘bout ketchin’ those hood rats you were meowin’ ‘bout the other day.

RaenaBelle, me doesn’t know how else me can meow it. Me wasn’t meowin’ ‘bout actual rats. Ifin me had been, you would’a needed to put on your runnin’ shoes. Me’s heard rats can get really big; and fur a Ragdoll, you’re kind’a small.

Kitty queen huh? Me thought mommy x’plained to you that even tho’ you might be the Alpha cat in our house. you’re not the Queen, me is.   

 

          No sissy, mommy said I’s the Queen and you’re the Em-purress. By the way, what’s an Empress?  

 

She did, did she? (Dezi contemplates the hierarchy of royalty and smiles.)  Well then, me’s the Em-puress of this here ‘pawrtment.  

 

          (Raena leans over and whispers to Dezi)  Ranch sissy, I’s think it sounds better.

What? We don’t live on a ranch Raena. Wherever did you come up with that one? And what difference does it make what we call it? 

 

          Well sissy, I’s know we’re from the South. And that we’re real live Southern Belles, you know like Scarlet? But, I’s thought peeps might think we’re purrejudice or somethin’ ifin we called our place a Plantation. And, since mommy worked on a couple of horse and cattle ranches when she lived in Georgia, and we luvs horses, I’s thought a ranch was the next bestest thing.

(Dezi shakes her head while furrowing her brow.) Only you Raena, only you. Sometimes me just can’t follow your logic. Me’s not even sure you are logical.

          I’s don’t have a clue what you’re meowin’ ‘bout sissy, but mommy says there’s nuffin’ wrong with me wantin’ to call our ‘pawrtment a ranch. Mommy says to dream big and believe and that’s x’actly what I’s doin’. Who knows, maybe one day we’ll wake up and be on our very own fur real ranch. 

 

Sure Raena, whatever you meow. (Dezi thinks to herself about prowling the halls of a real ranch and waking to the crow of a rooster.) That would be kind’a nice. Anyways, are you goin’ with mommy to her doctor’s ‘pointment today?

Hey, Yo, it’s me, RaenaBelle. Comin’ to you live from the ranch, better known as our ‘pawrtment. Yep, I’s live and in the fur bringin’ you blow by blow accounts of life in the slow lane.

          RaenaBelle Mayce, what in the world are you meowin’ ‘bout? And why are you meowin’ like some hood rat?

Hood rat?! What’s a hood rat sissy? Do we have any ‘round here? I’s bet’ch’a our furiend Erin would luvs to have a bite of one of those. Let me just look thru our address book and find her nummer. We’ll set out the pawtal so she can get here in a jiffy. I’s bet she could teach us a thing or two ‘bout ketchin’ those things. She may be a princess now, but she hasn’t always lived the pampurred life.  

 

          (Dezi shakes her head) RaenaBelle…It’s nice that you wanna share, but hood rat is just an expression. We don’t actually have any rats ‘round here of any kind. Y, Me’s never actually seen a real live mouse. Less ya’ wanna count the one me saw at BlogPaws that time. But me doesn’t think that one counts since he was somepawdy’s pet. You know, you can’t eat somepawdy’s pet, that’s just not nice.

          Uh, yeah, kind’a like that Raena. We don’t really think ‘bout Speedy bein’ a rabbit like the ones we like to see on our dinner plates. Speedy’s just Speedy, ya’ know?. It’s kind’a like all our woofy furiends. They’re nuffin’ like those annoyin’ woofies ‘round here and at the V-E-T’s office. Anyways, ya’ got me off track here. Me was askin’ why you were meowin’ things like Yo, and what blow by blows are you relatin’? Nopawdy’s fightin’ here.

Rabbit hole? When did you get to go outside? Where’s the rabbit hole sissy? I’s wanna see it. That’s not fair that you got to go outside and I’s didn’t. I’s take care of mommy just as much as you do. Ifin anypawdy ought to get to go outside, it’s me. I’s haven’t really and truly seen all the marvels that make up nature on account on mine’s eyes bein’ bad. Now that I’s can see clearly, I’s need to go and check out the world ‘round us. (Raena puts on her pouty face)

 

          Raena, there is no rabbit hole. Well, there purrobably is, but me hasn’t seen it. Nopawdy’s been outside, not even mommy. Seriously now, where’d you get the word Yo?

          With as much tv as you watch Raena, you should be more than a little furmiliar with silly human sayings, like down the rabbit hole. 

 

I’s not ever heard it sissy. Maybe the tv peeps bleep those things out. Y, Last night while mommy was makin’ our dinner, I’s changed the channel by mistake and this whole show was bleep bleep bleep. I’s don’t know why somepawdy would wanna watch somethin’ that doesn’t even have words. Quite furankly, those bleeps are a bit annoyin’.
