Chatting Cats: Remembering A Snow Fall

MeOWwwww  RaenaBelle, did you see the snow yesfurday? Me thought we might not get any since it was stormin’ and rainin’. But it was so cold the raindrops turned to snow drops mid air.

          Really sissy? The cold can make rain turn to snow?

What? Uh…sure it can Raena, didn’t you see it?  

 

          No, I’s was too busy snugglin’ with mommy. Is it still snowin’? Do ya’ think mommy will let us go out and play in it?

Nah, Fankfully the snow’s stopped fur now and the sun’s come out. Mr. Sun ain’t doin’ anythin’ to warm us up, but at least he’s makin’ the snow melt. The weather guessers had furcasted 8” of snow plus an inch of ice. Fankfully, they were wrong as usual. As fur playin’ in it, let me tell ya’, it’s not as fun as it might sound Raena. Me ‘members me’s furst time in the snow. A long time ago, me thought me just had to go out and see it. So, mommy wheeled us outside and me accidentally pushed the joystick on the wheelchair furward and we fell off the sidewalk and right into that cold white stuffs. Me couldn’t get in the house fast enuff. Me’s sis Lexi laffed at me furever ‘bout that.

it’s our new scratcher lounger.

 

 

 

          Really sissy? You made mommy fall into the snow? 

  

Not on purr-puss Raena, it was an accident. Trust me, that was the last thing me wanted to do. (Dezi goes back to eating her breakfast to distract her from the memory of falling in the snow)

          What did it feel like sissy? Was it soft?  

 

Can’t you see me’s eatin’? (Dezi thinks back to that day when she was just a small kitten who ended up in the snow with mommy A and the wheelchair falling on top of her)  To be honest Raena, me doesn’t ‘member that much ‘bout it. Me just ‘members it was cold and me wanted to go back inside where it was toasty warm and safe. Me feels so bad fur the kitties that have to live out in all that cold. 

 

          I’s do too sissy. I’s so wish every kitty could have a happy and luvvin’ furever like we do. It’s a new year and I’s gonna purray that more kitties find homes than ever befur.  (Raena jumps up on the back of mommy A’s chair and begins to take a mid morning bath)

That’s a good idea Raena. Me will join ya’. Meowin’ of the new year, we’re gonna be pickin’ up where we left off with our Service Cat Furiday posty’s startin’ February 1st. Hey everypawdy, it’s me, RaenaBelle. I’s comin’ to ya’ live from the Three Belles Ranch. It’s the New Year!!! (Raena looks around and jumps up in mommy A’s lap for some lap loving) Sissy, what’s so special ‘bout the new year? It doesn’t feel any different. I’s mean, so far we’ve done the same thing we do every day. When are we gonna do somethin’ new yearsy?

          (Dezi shakes her head and jumps up on the arm of the chair next to mommy A and Raena) We already did Raena. ‘Member all the extra cuddles and luvvin’ we got last night befur mommy said Happy New Year?

Did we get extra luvvins sissy? Cuz, we do that every night, don’t we?  

 

          Yeah, we do Raena, but last night’s cuddles were new years eve cuddles. (Dezi thinks a minute) Me doesn’t know what makes ‘em that, they just are. Me’s never figgered out ‘zactly what’s so special ‘bout a new year, but humans every where celebrate. Some celebrate like there’s no tomorrow, mommy just purrfurs to spend it with us. Me doesn’t think there’s anythin’ new yearsy that’s gonna happen. We just know it’s a new year cuz the calendar ends and mommy has to buy a new one.

Really sissy? Well I’s ended the calendar in the bathroom months ago. We didn’t celebrate a new year then.  

 

          Uh, Shreddin’ the calendar with your claws ain’t the same as runnin’ outta pages Raena.  

 

Hmmmpht  I’s ran outta pages to shred in less than 10 minutes sissy. Seems like the same thing to me.

          (Dezi shakes her head again and growls under her breath) It’s not the same thing, smeowrty pants. Now c’mon, let’s wish everypawdy a Happy New Year and do some more cuddlin’ with mommy. Me heard her grumblin’ ‘bout snow last night.

Hey everypawdy, it’s me, RaenaBelle. I’s comin’ to ya’ live from the Three Belles Ranch. I’s can’t hardly believe it but Christmas is only days away. Can you believe it? Another year has come and gone. Last night we were lookin’ thru all the pawsum Christmas cards we’ve gotten so far and givin’ fanky fanks fur all our amazin’ furiends.

          After you walked all over and sat on ‘em Raena. Me can’t believe you sat on our Christmas cards.

I’s was checkin’ ‘em out, sissy. I’s could smell our furiends. Ya’ know, when I’s was just a little kitty girl livin’ in that cage, I’s could never have ‘magined bein’ so luvved by so many. Every kitty dreams of bein’ luvved and wanted, and when mommy rescued me I’s thought mine’s life couldn’t get any better. I’s had a furever home with a luvvin’ mommy and I’s even got a sissy, but to be a pawrt of a world wide community of peeps and anipals who care so much fur each other, is beyond any kitty’s wildest dreams. And you all know I’s can dream up some purretty crazy things. MOL

          Yep Raena, you sure can. But me’s always told you that we have the greatest most bestest furiends in the universe. On another matter, have you finished writin’ your letter to Santa? Ya’ know, we need to get those done or we’ll run outta time.

          No, me’s wants to make sure me asks fur just the right things. We’re so furtunate to be Blest with a luvvin’ mommy who will never ever leave us, and all our furiends. Me feels kind’a bad askin’ fur things. 

 

I’s know sissy, but I’s thought you were really hopin’ to get a new scratcher?

 

          Yeah Raena, it would be nice, but me’s just as likely to hurl on a new one. Besides, ifin we don’t have a house to live in we wouldn’t have anywhere to put it. 

 

Don’t worry sissy, mommy’s filin’ complaints and doin’ what she can to keep our ranch (apartment). Who knows, ifin we lost it, we just might furinally get some place better. Ya’ know, a kitty can dream right?

          Now that would be nice Raena. Me would luv to live anywhere that we’re not constantly harassed and threatened. Too bad the big guy doesn’t bring houses. MOL 

 

I’s think that might have somethin’ to do with mommy’s ability to pay sissy. ‘Member? You’re the one who told me that mommy’s and daddy’s have to pay fur the things Santa brings. Anyways, we still have a couple of days to get our letters finished. You’re still gonna let me go with you and the cat scouts to visit the North Pole, right?  

 

          Yeah Raena, several of me’s fellow scouts have meowed that you could tag along. But, you’re gonna have to be on your very bestest behavior. 

 

I’s will, sissy, I’s will. Mommy even helped me find a cute little outfit to wear. I’s so x’cited. Fanky fank you. (Raena gets excited and starts walking towards Dezi)

          Stay back, Raena. No need to be huggin’ on me all the time. Kittens!!!  You can smother a kit with all your neediness.

 

I’s luvs you too sissy. Besides, mommy says she luvs it when I’s wanna be close all the time. She’s never said anythin’ ‘bout me bein’ smotherin’. And aren’t you the one that’s been complainin’ ‘bout not bein’ able to snuggle at night? 

 

          That’s different Raena. That’s the time fur snugglin’. You like to be all up in me’s business all the time. A kitty can never get a break.

Hey everypawdy, it’s me, RaenaBelle. I’s know it ain’t Blest Sunday yet, but I’s sure do wanna fanky fank all of you fur your luvs and suppurrt. Ya’ know, it really warms this little kitty girls’ heart to have so many peeps care ‘bout me. Mommy was talkin’ to her counselor the other day ‘bout mine’s humble beginnings and how I’s had known nuffin’ but a stinky old cage till she came along and bailed me out. I’s don’t really like to think ‘bout all that anymore, cuz I’s livin’ the good life now. I’s got a luvvin’ mommy and the bestest big sisfur ever. Ya’ know, she’s been so nice to me lately, I’s started wonderin’ ifin somethin’ was up. Ya’ know, like ifin she was tryin’ to sell me off on the kittycats list or trade me in fur another model.

          RaenaBelle Mayce!!! Don’t be tellin’ peeps me’s tryin’ to get rid of you. You know that ain’t true. (Dezi mumbles under her breath) Besides, mommy would never let it happen. 

 

I’s didn’t say you did it sissy, just that I’s worried you might. You never let me jump on you without hissin’, till the other day. So, you can see why I’s might think somethin’ was up…Right?

          No, me’s been nice to you befur. Me’s always nice. Anyways, let’s meow ‘bout somethin’ else. Me’s so ready to see mr. Sunshine again, how ‘bout you? 

 

Yeah sissy, I’s getting’ tired of all the gray. Altho’ I’s did see a few squirrels the other day. Mommy says they’re gatherin’ up their winter supply of nuts. I’s say, ifin they’d just come a little closer, they wouldn’t have to worry ‘bout winter, they’d be on our plates fur dinner. MOL

          Like mommy would ever let that happen Raena. Mommy won’t let us walk ‘round on the dirty ground. She fur sure ain’t lettin’ us get all dirty killin’ some squirrel. Hmmmpht  Can you ‘magine the bath we’d get after somethin’ like that?  

 

Oooooh Maybe we could have a bubble bath sissy. I’s saw that on tv the other night and it looked like so much fun. Bubbles were everywhere and the peeps were slippin’ and slidin’ all over the place. You know how much I’s luvs a good slide.

          Yeah Raena, we all know how much you like to slide everywhere. Me thinks it’s only second to your tv watchin’. Me’s never known a kitty that liked to watch the boob tube as much as you.
