Chatting Cats: Raena’s New Plan 2 #PurrsWithAPurr-Puss

Hey, is anypawdy out there? It’s me, RaenaBelle. I’s gotta tell ya’, I’s got big plans. Seems mine’s latest business idea Purrs With A Purr-Puss is a big hit. Sissy, did you hear? Everypawdy thinks mine’s idea is great. We even had several kitties say they’d gladly purrvide the purrs. And, purrlenty of peeps said they’d pay fur those purrs. But, I’s thinkin’ we should add things to our menu; you know, like a la carte’ things they can ask fur. ‘Course there would be an additional charge fur these things. We’d have to be really careful who we sent on each job tho’. You know, some kitties get so x’cited, they’d give away the extras fur free, like drools and makin’ biskits and stuffs.

          Well Raena, while me certainly agrees that your idea is a good one, just how do you think you’re gonna run a business, hire kitties, collect green papers and pay your employees? 

 

So maybe there’s still a few kinks to work out sissy. But I’s think this is gonna be the bestest thing since sliced bonito flakes. Y, We might even be bigger than catnip!!! I’s can see it now, we’ll be rollin’ in dough. Our names will be in lights. We’ll be known as the Purr-Puss Queens. Can you see it? We’ll have billboards and branches all over the world!!! I’s meowed with Shoko and Tyebe ‘bout bein’ heads of our Canadian branch. And Erin, the Cat Princess is on board to head our across the pond branch in her region. So, we just need to get more kitties across the world to get on board. We’ll all be rich, rich, rich!!! Imagine the treats and nip and vine we can buy. (Raena rubs her paws together as she envisions piles of nip and silvervine) 

 

          Sure Raena. (Dezi shakes her head) You still haven’t addressed any of the things me brought up befur. So, are you takin’ applications? And what ‘bout all the purrs we give away every day? Do you expect mommy to start payin’? Cuz me’s purretty sure that ain’t gonna happen. Me’s also purretty sure awnty Jean ain’t gonna be payin’ Shoko and Tyebe either.

Really sissy? Are you sure, cuz I’s know mommy would want us to succeed. How would it look ifin we gave away our services to mommy fur free? 

 

          Well Raena, lots of businesses give furiends and families discounts. And lots of time those discounts mean free fur family. 

 

Maybe sissy, but I’s saw a show on tv that said you can’t give away your product, even ifin it’s family. Otherwise, you’ll never make a profit.

          You’ve got lots of things you really need to work out Raena. In the meantime, we’ve got other things we need to be workin’ on too. Do you realize the holidays are almost here? Me’s Birthday is just right ‘round the corner. Me wants to have a big celebration. Do you wanna help me plan it? 

 

‘Course I’s wanna help sissy. But what ifin mommy was plannin’ on throwin’ you a surpurrise pawrty? 

 

          That’s okay, Raena. Me could have 2 pawrties. You know, one can never have too many pawrties. Anytime we spend with furiends is a good time.

Meowin’ of furiends sissy, I’s invited Prancie over fur a play date next week. She’s gonna bring a copy of her new book so we can host a give away. Isn’t that gonna be pawsum? I’s told mommy she needed to get herself together and get your sis Lexi’s book written, so we can write a book of our own. Maybe we could even write a book ‘bout mine’s new business venture.

          RaenaBelle!!!  ‘Nuff with the business stuffs. (Dezi shakes her head) Girl, you’re like a dog with a bone. You never let anythin’ go. Push, push, push, that’s all you do. Anyways, we do have lots to do, so we better wrap it up and finish our brekky. Me has plans fur a nice relaxin’ afternoon nip nap. Me just has to convince mommy to give me some nip furst.

Raena:  Hey You!!! Bully lady (apartment manager), what are you doin’ to our car? Mommy, What’s the bully lady doin’ with our car? Don’t you be takin’ no fotos of our car!!!  Just go on and get away, ya’ hear?!!

          Dezi:  RaenaBelle, what in the world are you growlin’ and hissin’ ‘bout over there?

Raena:  Y, Don’t you see her sissy? She’s there behind that tree. That mean o’l bully lady’s walkin’ ‘round checkin out our car in the pawrkin’ lot with her camera. I’s don’t know what she’s doin’, cuz our car’s fine and mommy pawrked t’ween the lines, unlike some peeps out here. 

 

          She’s just tryin’ to find another way to harass mommy Raena. Don’t worry ‘bout it, let mommy do the worryin’. The mean lady just can’t stand it that we still live here in spite of all her attempts to get rid of us. Mommy’s still workin’ on the purrticulars of her complaint over the whole lease fiasco, she’ll just have to add this to it. Me swears, it just never stops with this woman.

Yeah sissy, I’s just don’t unnerstand why she hates mommy so much?. We keep to ourselves and don’t cause any trouble, like, ever. And mommy says we pay our rent on time every month, even tho’ they just raised it by $40.00. And, unlike the woofies ‘round here, we’re not poopin’ all over the sidewalks.

 

          Yeah Raena, me knows. But bullies just aren’t happy lessen they’re makin’ somepawdy else miserable. And when they cross somepawdy like mommy, who doesn’t back down, they just get beside themselves tryin’ to garner allies to their side and find new ways to pick on their chosen victims. Me thinks it’s totally ridiculous fur old peeps to be actin’ like 5 year olds on the playground. You’d think at some point everypawdy would just grow up and act their age. 

 

You’d think, huh sissy? Anyways, ‘nuff ‘bout the schoolyard ‘pawrtment bully. What do you think ‘bout the hots comin’ back? Ya’ know, durin’ last weeks storms it kind’a cooled off ‘round here…a lot. But, summer came back with a vengeance this week. It’s been in the hunnerds every day.

          Ain’t that the truth, Raena. Ifin it hadn’t stormed so much me might have enjoyed the cooler weather. But, since it was stormin’ all week, we couldn’t even go fur a stroll or nuffin’. There’s not much to enjoy UTB (under the bed). Meowin’ of storms, did you see the storm that happened on your married to a stranger show last night? 

 

I’s sure did sissy. But you know, that’s what ya’ get when you get married and still troll the datin’ web sites. Somepawdy’s bound to find out. Guess we need to go deactivate all those accounts we made fur mommy on the datin’ sites. Turns out they don’t work that well. After all,  nopawdy ever called mommy fur a date.  

 

          You didn’t actually give anypawdy our nummer, did you Raena? Me didn’t see anypawdy worth swipin’ right fur.

Well sissy, maybe you’re too picky like mommy. Were we s’posed to swipe somethin’? Hmmmmmmm Maybe that’s why they didn’t work. I’s ‘member seein’ one or two that might’ve been okay. Oh well, back to the drawin’ board. Maybe we can find a matchmaker. Or maybe we can find a mail order husband. Ya’ know, I’s found a new show on the tube the other night ‘bout fureigners wantin’ to marry Americans fur green cards papers.

That Raena’s left her plate again. Ifin me hurries, me can steal her noms too.

 

 

 

          Raena, we don’t have enuff green papers to go ‘round as it is; we’re fur sure not spendin’ ‘em on somepawdy to marry mommy. Me’s thinkin’ we might oughtta take a little break and just let the chips fall where they may.

So long as they don’t fall on our track toys, sissy. Mommy does that enuff on her own. Guess we better wrap this up and finish our brekky. I’s think mommy’s headin’ back to the kitchen fur another cup of coffee, and we’ve got lots of furiends to visit. Why don’t you tell the neighbor dog to stop barkin’, it’s inneruptin’ mine’s train of thought and not mine’s idea of good dinner music.

Blest Sunday: We’re Always Good Girls

RaenaBelle, me sure wishes you’d act like a civilized cat and quit layin’ on the pawtty box. Some of us like a bit of purrivacy ya’ know?! And me’s tail isn’t a toy fur that matter. How would you like it ifin me whacky pawed your tail while you were usin’ the pawtty box. Or purrhaps you might get a laugh ifin me tried to trip you as you stepped outta the pawtty box, huh? RaenaBelle?!! Are you lissenin’ to me?

(Dezi shakes her head) That selective hearin’ is gonna get you into trouble some day Raena. Me meowed purrlenty. But you’re right, it is Blest Sunday, and pawrt of fankin’ God fur our Blessings is furgivin’ those that have wronged us. So, me will furgive you fur tryin’ to trip me this meownin’, and yesfurday and the day befur and the day befur and the… 

 

          Uh, I’s think furgiveness isn’t s’posed to sound quite like that sissy. I’s think you’re just s’posed to furgive me and not actually count all the times or things you’re furgivin’ me fur. Anyways, fanky fank you. I’s furgive you too.

          What? Of course you have sissy. You eat mine’s dinner evey day. Even tho’ mommy tells you not too. But that’s okay, we’re furgivin’, and besides, mommy always makes me more when you’re not lookin’. 

 

What?!!! (Dezi shakes her head) Whatever Raena. Is there anypawdy else you need to ‘pawlogize too? Or maybe you need to ask somepawdy to furgive you?

 

          Nope, sissy, I’s good. How ‘bout you? 

 

Ifin you’re good then fur sure me is, Raena. Me’s always a good girl.

          Sure you are sissy. That’s why we can’t see the bathroom floor fur the piddle pads. Or the hallway floor fur that matter. All cuz you’re bein’ a good girl. Why don’t we ask mommy what she says to that? 

 

Go ahead tattle tale. Don’t you know by now that it doesn’t matte what we do, mommy luvs us just the same?. Even you, you little pest. No matter what, mommy says we’re always Good Girls, her little angels.

 

          I’s gonna tell mommy you’re bein’ mean to me and callin’ me names, sissy. You know she doesn’t like negative names. That’s why she calls us her little angels, even when we’re not actually actin’ like one.

Me’s sorry Raena. Kittens!!! Sometimes you can be such a brat. And me means that in the nicest pawssible sense. Let’s get to our Blessings. You know we’re the most Blestest kitty girls ever. We were reminded this past week just how Blest we truly are. While on facebutt (facebook) we were readin’ a few rescue stories of kitties saved from the mean streets of this world. It reminded us of our own humble beginnings. 

 

          So true, sissy. It doesn’t really matter where you get your start, what matters is how it all ends. Fanky fankfully, we didn’t have to wait very long fur our happily ever after, our furever story, but so many kitties do.

Yep Raena, our furever is amazin’ and filled with so much luv and so many pawsum furiends. We wish that ever kitty could find their happy furever, and we believe that some day that will happen. In the meantime, we’ll continue to do all we can to make that happen. We also wanna fank all of those who help kitties in need. Each life is purrecious and a Blessing. Service Cats: Where Does Your Lifelong Furry Buddy Belong When You’re Off To College

MeOW  Welcome to Service Cats and Everything Feline on Furidays. Furstly, we’d like to apologize fur our absence last week. T’ween the stress, the added pain, and mommy’s monthly doctor’s ‘pointment, we just flaked, zoned out, didn’t feel up to posting. Ya’ know, life happens sometimes, and gets in the way of all your plans. However, we’re back this week with a pawsum and timely topic that was brought to our attention by one of the sweetest e-mails we’ve received in a while.      It’s that time of year, back to school, off to college or away for internships. For many, this is the first time they’ll be away from the home they grew up in. And some, like mommy did, will be returning to school after years of holding down a household. So, what do you do with your beloved furry purrer that’s been there with you throughout the years? Especially, if like one of our pawsome readers, kitty is bonded with you above anyone else in the house. Each year, thousands of people head off to live on campus in dorm rooms or apartments with roommates. While it’s an exciting time for many, it can be a very stressful time for kitty.

To Take Kitty Or Not:

     The questions we were asked were, “My older shy cat is deeply bonded with me. Would it be less stressful to take her with me to college, or leave her in the house she’s always known, even tho’ she doesn’t get along well with anyone or the other animals in the home?” The next question was, how should I introduce kitty to roommates?” First, we want to say, Thank you for saving a life and taking responsibility for that life till the end. We are not disposable when it’s inconvenient and we appreciate that you realize that and are trying to do the best you can for kitty.

 

     Some of you may remember when we told the story of mommy and Shad being homeless but happy because they were together. If you want to read it you can do so here. Anyways, obviously, we recommend taking kitty with you as soon as possible. Fortunately, many colleges are learning about the bond between humans and pets and are starting to allow them in dorms. You need to check with the college of your choice for their pet policy. Do Not Ever try to sneak Fluffy or Fido into your dorm, apartment or rental property. It’s not fair to them or to future renters.

 

     If your college doesn’t allow pets, you’ll either have to leave kitty/woofy at home or live off campus. Often colleges require Freshmen to live on campus for the first year. Plan your finances so that you can move off campus and reunite with kitty as soon as possible. Regardless of kitty’s age or health, it’s you and not the house kitty is attached too. And, altho’ cats aren’t big fans of change, they do much better when they can be near their chosen human.

Reduce Kitty’s Stress While You’re Away:

     In the meantime, how can you make kitty more comfortable during your absence? Start off by making sure kitty has a Decompression Room (your former bedroom is the perfect choice. Don’t change the sheets when you leave.). Place all of kitty’s essentials in the room with him/her and make sure mom, dad, or sibling knows kitty’s routines (ie; meal time, cleaning litterboxes, etc.). Be sure to leave a few pieces of heavily scented clothes with kitty, so he/she can feel close to you. We also recommend coming home once a month if possible to visit and refresh the scent clothing. However, you may be too far away to come home that often, so we highly recommend sending freshly scented garments back home to replace the old ones. We recommend, night shirts, bras and other lightweight garments. They shouldn’t be too heavy and thus won’t cost much to ship/mail back home.

Telepathy And Kitty:

     Years ago there was a study that talked about sending telepathic messages to your pets when you were away. The premise was that you could visualize your pet in your mind and they would be able to feel your presence. While mommy thinks this is mostly hogwash (ridiculous), still she tends to do it just in case. It certainly doesn’t hurt anyone. We also recommend phoning home and letting Fluffy/Fido hear your voice. We’d love to hear any ideas you have about communicating with your pets when you’re away. The first year of college and away from your beloved furry is going to be stressful for both of you. But, by implementing a few of these tips, you can make it less stressful for kitty. And remember, soon you’ll be able to reunite and be together again.
