Probiotics and Gut Health #ChewyInfluencer

Hey, is anypawdy out there? Dd ya’ll survive da shoppin’ extravaganza? It’s RaenaBelle. Yeah, I’s learned a new word there, extravaganza. Do ya’ like it? Did I’s use it right? Well, I’s gotta tell you somethin’. You know mommy fell this weekend, and as a result, she didn’t get da sheets changed on da normal day. Anyways, she furinally got ‘round to changin’ ‘em last night. And OMC  She put this thing on there called a ‘lectric blanky. Dat thing is pawsum. You ain’t truly cuddled till you’ve done it under a ‘lectric blanky. I hope every kitty has da chance to cuddle under a ‘lectric blanky at least once.

Oh, I’s furgot. Dat ‘lectric blanky thing was so pawsum it’s got mines mind all fuzzy.

Fuzzy or not Raena, we need to tell everypawdy ‘bout da Purina Pro Plan Veterinary Diets FortiFlora Probiotic Cat Supplement. Furst we must say dat mommy gave sis Lexi Probiotics da last year of her life. At da time mommy hadn’t really done any research and thought they were only good fur sick kitties. After sissy went to heaven, mommy continued to research Probiotics in an attempt to keep me and now sis Raena healthy and happy. What she discovered is dat Probiotics such as da Purina FortiFlora are offen given to kitties with GI issues and/or diarrhea. But she also learned da Probiotics are good fur even healthy kitties. Our little bodies can get out of whack purretty easy, and dat allows unfuriendly bacteria to rapidly grow and cause other health issues such as UTI’s, Hyperthyroidism, and Pancreatitis. Stress alone can cause us kitties to have an upset tummy or other health issue. So when Chewy offered us da oppurrtunity to try da Purina FortiFlora, we jumped on it.

Dezi with Purina FortiFlora Probiotics for Cats.

Now let me tell ya’, Raena didn’t have worms like me did when she was young, but dat girly could stink up da whole house in a hurry. And not just when she left depawsits in da pawdee box either. She was a gassy little thing. No doubt her GI was overflowin’ with some bad bacterias.

Sissy, dat’s not very nice.

Maybe not Raena, but it’s da truth. Anyways, me has also been a bit stressed since losin’ sis Lexi and havin’ to get used to a new non stop kitten sisfur. Me doesn’t know how sis Lexi put up with mes shenanigans’. Anyways, let’s take a look at what da Chewy website says ‘bout da key benefits of FortiFlora Probiotics fur cats.

Key Benefits

  • Contains 500 Million live microorganisms

  • Proven to promote intestinal health & balance with microencapsulated probiotics, which guarantees that they arrive alive in your pet’s digestive tract

  • Contains antioxidant vitamins E, C and beta-carotene which have been shown to support a strong immune system

  • Tastes great, has excellent palatability and may even increase a pet’s desire to eat

  • Easy to feed – just sprinkle on your pet’s food

       And here’s da ingredients:

  1. Animal Digest, Enterococcus Faecium, Brewers Dried Yeast, L-Ascorbyl-2-Polyphosphate (Source of Vitamin C), Vitamin E Supplement, Beta-Carotene, Zinc Proteinate, Taurine, Salt, Manganese Proteinate, Ferrous Sulfate, Copper Proteinate, Calcium Iodate, Sodium Selenite

    .

Most kitty pawrents hate purroducts or supplements dat are to be given/served in or over a kittys’ food. Us kitties can be picky enuff without adding anythin’. None da less, dat’s exactly how da Purina FortiFlora is to be given. Yep, just sprinkle on kittys’ regular noms and watch kitty eat it up. Let me say dat mommys’ ‘sperience with such methods has not been great. Us kitties can tell you’re hidin’ somethin’ in our food and usually we don’t want any pawrt of it. So, how did da taste test go? Mommy sprinkled half a packet on mes noms and half a packet on sis Raenas noms and placed our plates in front of us.

We both did da same thing. Me took a good sniff and decided it was worth a taste. Yummmmmmmm  Ya’ know, it tasted purretty good. Hmmmmm Me better try another bite to be sure. Yep, it’s purretty tasty alright. Me will give it a 4 paws up rating. Keep da Probiotics coming mommy, me likes it just fine. Ya’ wanna know what Raena did?

 Dezi and Raena eating

I’s gave it a few sniffs and looked over at you sissy. You was scarfin’ it down, so I’s figgered it must be okay and took mines furst bite. Hmmmmmmm Not too bad. Another bite and then another and befur long I’s was scarfin’ it down too. I’s givin’ these Purina FortiFlora Probiotics 4 paws up too.

Fanks Raena. Mommy said she was thrilled dat we both ate it right up. She did say it’s a little on da ‘spensive side, since da dose is 1 packet purr kitty purr day; and da box contains 30 packets fur $27.99 or $26.59 ifin ya’ add it to an autochip. 1 box would last fur 2 weeks in our house, so it would add up. But it has done wonders fur sis Raenas’ “gassyness”. So fur those reasons, mommy gives da Purina ForiFlora 1 thumb up.

Speakin’ of autoship, Chewy has lots of purroducts fur most of da anipals in your life. Chewy also has da bestest purrices and shipping costs on da innernet. Dat shippin’ is speedy and furee fur all orders over $49.00 and a flat rate of $4.95 fur all other orders. They have great customer service agents…

Raena plays in a chewy box

And da bestest boxes ‘round.

  1. We get probiotics too, but they are not this kind…not sure if it would help Minko eat though…it might just be worth a try.
Yes it is sad about Easy and the other furs…so much sadness here this week. Purrs and pawyers for their sad furmilies.

  2. My cat Toffee says you are so lucky to have a lecky blankie. She has to make do with cuddling down between me and hubby. But we manage to keep pretty warm. Luckily, her stomach seems to be made of iron and she doesn’t need any supplements at the moment. Hopefully, it will continue.

  3. We thought about getting this to review but I’m one of those cats who won’t eat food or drink water if something’s been added. I did eat my food with the pred though. TW had bought some Fortiflora when I’d gotten sick at the beginning of the year but I got better without them. She donated them to UCFCC when they had a feral with squirts that couldn’t stop. I shouldn’t say it here but they were much cheaper on Amazon.

  4. Raena, you sound very similar to when we first got Sophie. She kind of stunk up the place, too. We were told to use Fortiflora as well! She doesn’t get it anymore, but it did seem to help. Hope you have a nice snuggle tonight on that ‘lectric blanky. Hugs!

  5. My sympathies to Mamakatandherbearkat on her loss. The holistic vet gave us some probiotics that we have to refrigerate, because Angel was on antibiotics for her bladder infection. Both Chuck and Angel seem to do well on the liquid stuff, but I’ve used Floriflora in the past. I did not know that I could get Fortiflora via Chewy.com; so now I know! I’ve got to place my order with Chewy.com soon; we are down to the last case of canned food.

  6. I am always so nervous about supplements. There’s the cost, and I like concrete proof something is making a difference. But my biggest issue is (probably unrelated) experience. For 6 years, Kitty was stable and doing okay with hepatic lipidosis and diabetes. It wasn’t until I moved across country and needed a new vet that I got a second opinion. The new vet insisted stable wasn’t the best we could hope for and gave me a supplement for Kitty. That was two months before she died. I still blame myself. I know it’s silly to boycott ALL supplements just because of an experience with one (especially one that most likely wasn’t even related to the supplement itself … Kitty WAS almost 16 after all), but despite all my attempts to reason myself out of my fears … I haven’t had any success 😦

    1. Oh, we’re so sorry. We’re purrobably not da right peeps and kitties to give advice on this subject as mommy still blames herself fur da death of each kitty what came befur. Either her ignorance or lack of funds makes her always question ifin more coulda been done? Did she have all da facts? Did she make da right choices? So many questions and so few answers. Of course we will tell you not to beat yourself up ’bout it cuz your can’t change da past. This is somethin’ mommy knows in her head, but can’t reconcile in her heart. She did learn a lot ’bout supplements when sis Lexi was sick, cuz dat’s what mommy does…research. When sissy was diagnosed da VET gave her a hunnerd dollar supplement dat did nuffin’ to help sis Lexi and was never goin’ too. Mommy did however find others dat did help her, at least some. As fur da FortiFlora or probiotics in general, mommy says, they truly can’t hurt a kitty, but can have a pawsitive effect ifin one chooses to use them. Dat is somethin’ mommy does look at. Ifin it could hurt ‘stead of help, then there’s no way mommy would go near it. And of course ifin it does nuffin’ but drain da pawcket book, there’s no reason fur it. Da probiotics have helped us all, so mommy will continue to use them, but to each his own. Again, we are sorry ’bout Kitty and there were purrobably a lot of factors beyond your control dat contributed to her death. Such is da circle of life. We’re sendin’ hugs and purrayers.

      Luv ya’
