Blest Sunday: 2021 Pet Blogger’s Journey

Hey dearest furiends, how’ve ya’ been? It seems like I’s haven’t meowed at you in furever. You may have noticed a few changes to the look, setup and name of our blog. Don’t worry, we plan on keeping some of our old traditions along with making some new ones. We’d really luvs to hear what you think. And purrlease, the honest truth only. Ifin you have any suggestions, we’d appreciate hearing those too. As you know, mommy’s not very technical and has had to teach herself a ton in her attempts to help us keep up over the years. Meowing of, today seemed like the purrfect time fur the 2021 Pet Blogger’s Journey, right mommy?

1.        When did you begin your blog and what do you currently write about on your blog?

We began DezizWorld in February of 2014 by complete accident. That accident has been one of the greatest Blessings in our lives. We have made the most amazing friends and met so many wonderful people and anipals we never would have had the opportunity to know otherwise. We began to tell the story of my amazing service cats and to bring awareness to the capacity of animals other than dogs to perform such duties. We post about our daily lives, adventures, training tips, information on health and all things feline.

2.    Name one thing about your blog, or one blogging goal that you accomplished during 2020, that made you most proud.

Well, 2020 wasn’t a very good year fur us. It wasn’t fur a lot of peeps. But, we were also dealing with Dezi’s continued illness and it’s progression which culminated into our having to say goodbye in December. With everybody’s lives in such turmoil we wrote about the necessity for an emergency contact fur your pets, and the need fur proper planning here. And of course, we ended the year with our annual Blessing Train event, which we’re always proud of.

3.     Which of your 2020 posts was most popular with your audience? Why do you think it does so well?

It seems our most popular post in 2020 was actually from 2016, How to Train Kitty to massage without claws. You can see it here. It was followed by our Goodbye to sweet Dezi here. Of course we’re only guessing, but most peeps luv it when their kitty “makes biscuits” they just don’t like the poking of kitty’s claws. Our post tells one how to train kitty to keep those cute sharp little things sheathed so that everybody can be happy. And of course, saying goodbye to our blog’s namesake kind of goes without saying.

4.       What was the biggest blogging challenge you faced in 2020, and how did you tackle it?

Our biggest blogging challenge was time. And to be honest, I didn’t tackle it very well. Things with Dezi really took a toll on me and I let it. We’re still trying to resolve the situation with our property damage from the apartment remodel. My health got worse during that time and I’ve never bounced back, so I’m trying to get used to a new normal with my own health as well. Our car broke down and has left us in a real bind, and I just got overwhelmed by it all. We have plans to do and be better this year. Rebranding is our start on that journey, but has proved to be harder than expected. That may be due in part to my tech ignorance. lol We shall see.

5.       Tell us one thing you learned in 2020 that can help us all become better bloggers.

The biggest thing we learned is a Don’t. Don’t brand yourself into a corner. As long as mommy’s been disabled there has been a Service Cat. But, because humans live longer than furries, there has been more than one. When our internet/social media/blogging journey began, it seemed natural to name everything after the kitties with whom mommy shared her life. However, a mere 7 years later, those amazing kitties are no longer here. While some of our rebranding issues may very well be from mommy’s tech ignorance, some of them are just a matter of the inability to switch account names due to rules. And the thought of completely starting over from the bottom is terrifying. So, as much as you may luv a particular thing, try to be more general while still being specific enough to be separated from the crowd. Say that three times fast. MOL

6.         What are your top three goals for 2021?

Our 2021 goals are simple, be better, do more and get back into the swing of things. Really. Mommy and I have talked this over and we plan to revive our Service Cats and Everything Feline posts. We’d luv your help. Just send us any questions you may have or want answered to or We also plan to get back to regularly commenting on the blogs we visit. In between cleaning up and dealing with mommy and sis Dezi’s health issues last year, we visited all of you, we just didn’t have the time to comment. And we hope to add a helper to the Three Belles Ranch, so there’ll be lots of training happening and lots of new photo ops.

7.        In the perfect world, where do you see yourself and your blog 1 year from now?

There is no such thing as a perfect world. and we’re certainly far from it. So, I can’t even begin to speculate on where we’ll be next year. I plan to take it one day at a time, and hope that we can Bless someone along the way. We hope to make people laugh, feel joy, learn something to make the relationship between them and their furry better, and to make people smile. If we can accomplish those things, we will be Blest.

8.         If you had a $1,000 to spend on your blog how would you spend it?

A $1,000 green papers? WooHooooooooo Wait. Is that a lot? (mommy A nods) Well, I’s would buy more…more…well, I’s not sure. Mommy says we’d have to ask some of our furiends who’ve been blogging fur a while where we should invest it. Since neither mommy nor mine’s self are very computer smart, we don’t know what areas we could improve with money. Altho’, ifin you have a $1,000 green papers, or any to spare fur that matter, we still need a good car. MOL (the paypal donation link is there to your left on our sidebar or right here.)

9.        What is one skill you’d like to learn or improve in 2021?

One skill? Hmmmmpht There’s a whole host of skills I still need. lol I still don’t understand SEO’s, tags, https, or coding. Just pick one, I could use a few lessons in any of them.

10.       If you could ask the pet blogging community for help with one challenge you’re having with your blog, what would it be?

We can only ask one question huh? Well…we might ask how one goes about rebranding, especially social media without starting over. Or, what the kittens is SEO and why does it matter? And maybe, what are the most important things or information to include on our sidebar? Mommy’s been the human behind our blog since 2014. But, she says she still feels like she knows nothing about how it all works or what we’re doing.

Raena stretches on cat tree selfie

Whew, I’s glad we’re still on a journey, cuz based on our answers to this years challenge/journey, we’re not anywhere close to where we’d like to be. Now, I’s wanted to give a meowsy big thanky thank you to awnty Crystal and Daisy Mae who sent mommy an ebook fur Christmas. As soon as mommy figures out how to read it, she said she’d read it to me. We also wanna thanky thank awnty Anonymous fur the green papers fur our car fund. Mommy has been quite busy this weekend taking care of Spook and Jubal and doing errands fur their mommy Mrs. N. Because of that, mommy has been able to do a few things fur us as well. We are truly Blest.

That we are angel, that we are. Blessings come in all shapes and sizes, you just have to look for them. Sometimes, you can’t see them for the clouds. But, even in your darkest night, there is a Blessing. Our friends, their love and support are a huge Blessing. I can’t even imagine our lives without them.

RaenaBelle selfie,

Oh mommy, me neither. I’s wouldn’t want too. Meowing of furiends, we’re joining the Kitties Blue fur Sunday Selfies. And, as we do each week, we’d like to remind you to take a minute today and every day to Give Thanks fur the Blessings in your life. Thanky thank you fur being Blessings in ours.

Till the next time…………………………………………………………………………..Be Blest!!!

Don’t furget to tell us what you think about the new look and all.

We’re also trying a new font fur our posts. Can everybody see it? It’s a bit smaller than our usual font and thus harder fur mommy’s old eyes, but, we want to know what ya’ll think.

  • I would do a lot of reading online to discover what people say about rebranding. You will find (after a while) that a few important tips resurface in every blog. When you notice these note them and when you have a quiet time look them over and let your mind absorb them in its own time.

Then see how these fit in with your own goals. You have a goal – making a service cat blog, so see how much other infirmation (or even competition) there is out there and research your audience and how you can best let them know all of your facts, figures and any legal tips there might be for a ‘service cat’ in the community.

  • Beautiful blog ~ so well done ~ I just heard about your loss of Dezi ~ what a beautiful kitty ~ and I wanted to send healing energy hugs to you ~ so difficult to lose our fur persons ~ Wonderful tribute to Dezi ~ Xo

  • We think you do a great job with your blog, Mommy A and Raena Belle. Your new look is really nice, and we think the font is easy to read. 🙂

  • I’m sorry if you get this twice. Forgot my password the first time and I think my comment was lost.

Just wanted to say I’m so sorry Dezi died recently. It’s so hard to lose such a special pet and family member.

You asked about SEO and I wanted to mention the book “Pet Blogging For Love And Money.” It’s available on amazon in print or kindle formats. It goes over some details on SEO without getting too complicated. That might be a good resource if you haven’t read it already.

  • Thank you for your knowledge so far. Sorry for being an anonymous reader but I just want you to know that your blog inspires me so much in learning how to adopt and care for my cat properly.

  • Hi Raena and Mom A. We do have something right off the bat and that is the size of your fonts of the page links under your Header. They push down 1/3 the way into the page so it is hard to see anything. We have found it is better to have the Header roll up and that stuff with it so you can see the blog post. People know it is there and can find it easily so no need to keep it there. We like the picture of Raena but maybe one where she does not look “Chesty” MOL we know it is her floof and cute but brand, right. We love you both and hope for a much better year this year friends

  • I love purple so I love the look of your blog! I am a new blogger but I have learned a lot about SEO and SERP- Search Engine Optimization and Search Engine Results Pages. Feel free to send me an email if you have any questions. I always love helping out my fellow pet blogging community any way I can. it is extremely important having a good SEO unless you have a ton of money to invest in the paid promotion of your website. This allows you to get free targeted traffic to your website. A good way to understand SEO is that we spend hours writing our posts so it’s important that they reach our targeted audience. I mean what is the point of no one can find your posts right? 🙂
I think your website will do very well this coming year with the pet industry climbing this year. It is amazing what we can actually train cats to do! It is a much-needed service right now with the adoption rates climbing everywhere. I think you have a great niche! Thank you for sharing your journey and I look forward to seeing what 2021 brings you! Also Great Job on your new look!

    • Thank you fur your feedback and offer. We might just take you up on it. We so agree that with adoption rates on the rise, it’s important to get information into the hands of uneducated adopters, so kitties don’t end up abandoned or back in the shelter they were just saved from. We luvs purrple too. 🙂 We hope you enjoy blogging and welcome to the blogging world. Big hugs

      Luvs ya’
