Blest Sunday: The Smallest Blessings Are The Best

Dezi: MeOW Hissssssssss (Dezi heaves and convulses atop the liberty cat tree and stretches her neck)

Mommy A: Dezi, Come down from there!!! Use a piddle pad baby. Don’t hurl all over the place. I haven’t even had a cup of coffee yet.

Raena: (Raena sits in front of the bathroom looking down the hall towards Dezi heaving on the cat tree) And I’s not had brekky yet sissy. (Raena runs back to the kitchen where mommy’s preparing breakfast and her coffee and lays down in front of the fridge)

Dezi: (Dezi heaves one last time and out comes a hair ball. She then climbs down from the cat tree and sits at the edge of the kitchen watching mommy prepare breakfast. Dezi cleans her paws and face) Hurry mommy, me’s hungry. And, it’s Blest Sunday. We’ve got lots to do today.

Raena: I’s bet you are hungry sissy. Wasn’t that dinner there with that hairball? You know, when humans hurl after their meals it’s a sickness.

Dezi: It’s not the same fur kitties Raena. But you’re right, it is a sickness. We have no way of knowin’ ifin any of our furiends might be dealin’ with this or not, but ifin you are, purrlease stop. You are luvved and Blest and purrfect just the way you are. (The girls watch mommy grab some papertowels and cleaner and head for the cat tree and hairball mess) Mommy, clean it up later, me’s hungry now.

Raena: You should’a waited till after mommy served brekky and got in the sittin’ chair sissy. Now we have to wait till she cleans up. We’re never gonna get brekky now. It’ll be more like brunch. You really should use the piddle pads; clean up’s much quicker.

Dezi: Whatever. Anyways, as me was meowin’, it’s Blest Sunday. We luv countin’ our Blessings ‘round here, don’t we Raena.

Raena: Sure nuff sissy. We saw this post on facebook the other day that was listin’ Blessings. Not the big ones that peeps normally think ‘bout, but the every day Blessings, like a roof over our heads and food in our bellies and the likes.

Dezi: Yep Raena, sometimes the littlest Blessings are actually the bestest Blessings. So many peeps and anipals don’t have a place to call home, and so many of us take ours fur granted. A new season the bad kitties show just started up and while we were watchin’ an episode the other night, me was reminded just how Blest we are. Even tho’ me hurled all over the place this meownin’ befur mommy even had a cup of coffee, me never once thought she might get rid of me.

Raena: That’s true sissy. I’s wish every kitty could have the security we do. Maybe we should do somethin’ fur mommy. You know, to show her how much we luvs and ‘purreciate her. I’s wish we could throw a pawrty or somethin’ fur mommy and all our furiends. A huge get together where everypawdy could laff and have fun. And spend a day not worryin’ ‘bout anythin’. Wouldn’t that be cool?

Dezi: It would Raena. But, since that’s not likely to happen, we should just remind all our furiends how much we luv and ‘purreciate them. Mommy says you never know what tomorrow may bring, so you should tell those in your life how much you luv them as offen as you can.

Raena: I’s luvs hearin’ mommy tell us she luvs us, don’t you sissy? I’s could hear those 3 words all the time and never get tired of it. Meowin’ of luvs and ‘purreciation, we wanted to meow fanky fank you to awnty Vonda fur the green papers. She told mommy to get her somethin’ special to eat now that she has her new teethies. I’s can’t wait to see what mommy gets cuz I’s sure she’s gonna share at least a few bites with us.

Fank you fur not bein’ mad that me hurled everywhere, mommy.

Dezi: Me hopes she gets somethin’ tasty Raena. Anyways, meowin’ of tasty, we should wrap this up and go eat brekky. Blest Sunday: The Selfie Fiasco

MeOW (Dezi lays on the scratcher cleaning her face after having a few bites of breakfast, when she hears a low rumble off in the distance…) Hisssssssssss Hurry Raena, we’ve gotta write our Blest Sunday posty befur the storms start up again. (Dezi looks up at mommy A sitting in the chair beside the scratcher and begins to meow) Mommy, me’s so tired of the storms. Me didn’t even get to take selfies with you and Raena.

Well whose fault is that sissy? Mommy called you like, elebenty billion times. You’re the one who chose to stay UTB (under the bed) ‘stead of comin’ out fur the foto shoot. ‘Course, I’s’ll tell ya’, you didn’t miss much. Mommy couldn’t figger out how to make the smarty pants fone camera turn ‘round; and shootin’ selfies with the regular camera was like shootin’ in the dark. And, mommy made me sit and stare into the air the whole time she messed with ‘em. She got great fotos of mine’s paws and her neck. And a few of our tummies, and the tippy tops of our heads. I’s tellin’ ya’, we’d have blooper fotos fur a year outta that one foto shoot.

Really Raena? Well, guess it’s good that mommy doesn’t claim to be a seasoned or purrfessional fotographer. Otherwise, it would really be embarrassin’. Sometimes, me thinks we could take better fotos even tho’ we don’t have any thumbs.

You’re purrobably right sissy. We did furinally get a couple of usable fotos. Fanky fank heavens. Mommy’s been so x’cited ‘bout havin’ her new teethies, and we know everypawdy wants to see ‘em, so she wasn’t ‘bout to stop till we got at least one foto. Mommy was so touched by everypawdy who said she was purretty even without makeup.

Yeah Raena, but they’ve never seen her. Ya’ know, it’s kind’a like the old barn on the farm. It’s full of memories and luv but not much to look at. But, you throw a couple coats of fresh paint on ‘er and she’s not an eyesore anymore.

Sissy?!! Are you callin’ mommy an eyesore? I’s gonna tell.

Go ahead blabber mouth. Me wasn’t callin’ mommy an eyesore. Me was just sayin’, some old barns look better with a few coats of paint. You know, mommy’s got scars and discolorations and no eyebrows. You know how self conscious she is. She gets all decked out fur her drivers license foto fur kittens sake.

That’s true sissy, she sure does. Anyways, I’s think the new teethies look purretty good. It’s fur sure nice to see mommy smilin’ again. She’s gonna need some adjustments, but ‘pawrently, that’s purrfectly normal. And as soon as we get the green papers fur more gas, mommy’ll call and make a ‘pointment. Mommy says she’s so very fanky fankful fur all the luv and suppurrt from our furiends durin’ this long purrocess. We are so very Blest to have the greatest furiends in the universe.

We are Raena. That’s why we fank God fur them every day and ask Him to Bless them and meet all their needs.

I’s luvs purrayer time sissy. I’s luvs countin’ all our Blessings. (Seeing Dezi pawing through the toy basket, Raena meows…) Sissy, what are you doin’? There’s a nip nanner right here, and a nip heart and fishy and our made with luvs by awnty Ellen, silvervine toast over there.

(Looking up and over her shoulder from the toy basket) Me knows Raena, but those aren’t the toys me wants to play with right now. Me’s sure there’s somethin’ really fun in the toy basket, me just has to dig out some of these toys on top.

But sissy, mommy just picked up all those toys and put ‘em away. I’s don’t think she’s gonna be too happy ‘bout you scatterin’ ‘em all over the floor again.

She won’t care Raena. Mommy’s always sayin’ how much she luvs to see us playin’. (Dezi pulls the top layer of toys out of the toy basket and then looks around) We sure are Blest to have so many toys. Me thinks me’d rather play with the nip heart after all. As we do every week, we’d like to remind you all to take a minute today and every day to give Thanks fur the Blessings in your life. Fank you fur bein’ Blessings in ours.

Blest Sunday: Mini Tigers Major Blessings

Dezi: MeOW RaenaBelle, hurry up, it’s time fur Blest Sunday and me thinks me hears the sky rumblin’. Me might have to go searchin’ fur intruders soon.

Raena: I’s don’t get why you don’t just admit you’re hidin’ sissy. There’s nuffin’ to be ashamed of; lots of our furiends are scared of thunder boomers and storms.

Dezi: Me’s not scared Raena. How many times does me have to tell ya’ that? Y, Ifin not fur me, you might wind up sleepin’ with some pawful intruder one night.

Okay sissy, whatever you meow. Hey, did you see on the catputer that today is International Tiger Day? You know they’re our cousins, right? Maybe some day, we can meet one. That would be so cool.

Can you see me?

RaenaBelle, sometimes, me wonders how you ever survived long enuff fur mommy to save you. Tigers might be our cousins, but trust me, you don’t want to meet ‘em up close and purrsonal. Y, They’d have us fur a snack. Anyways…

Don’t worry sissy, I‘s would purrtect you. I’s a mini Tigress after all.

Sure Raena. As me was meowin’ befur you so rudely innerupted me, we have so much to be fankful fur this week. Fanks to awnty Susan, mommy was able to buy gas to go to her dentist ‘pointment fur the last of the wax try ins. She’s gettin’ so close to furinally havin’ teeth again. She said they looked great, even tho’ they were still in wax.

(From the perch at the door) Yep sissy, I’s can’t wait. I’s know mommy can’t either, she’s so x’cited.

Is there anythin’ x’citin’ goin’ on outside Raena?

Not a thing sissy. I’s haven’t even seen any birdies today. I’s can hear all kinds of things, but they must be hidin’ somehwere. Maybe they’re lookin’ fur intruders too sissy. What do you think?

Me thinks you’re bein’ a real smarty pants Raena, and it isn’t cute. Now, let’s get to countin’ our Blessings. Even tho’ you can be a real pain in me’s behind, me is fankful that you’re me’s sisfur.

Yeah well, don’t let it go to your head. Me’s fankful fur trash bags too and ya’ don’t see them gettin’ all beside themselves.

Anyways, we’re so Blest to have each other. Me’s not sure anypawdy else would put up with us. MOL

We’re also Blest to have such great furiends. And it’s even cooled off some. The temps fur the last couple of days have been in the low 90’s. We won’t meow ‘bout that humidity stuffs. Mommy says it’s so thick ya’ can’t even breathe. She even waited till 3 this meownin’ to take the trash out. She was hopin’ it would be a bit cooler. Fanky fankfully, she came to bed shortly after and I’s got mine’s nightly mommy and me cuddle time. I’s also fanky fankful our wild cousins decided to take up with humans so we could live the nice cushy life we have these days.

Blest Sunday: We Are SupawStars

MeOW C’mon Raena, it’s time fur our Blest Sunday posty. We’ve got so much to meow ‘bout today. And, we’re furinally rested up after havin’ stayed up all night and day fur 3 nights and 4 days straight with mommy. Altho’ ifin me’s meowin’ the truth, me must admit we all had a few cat naps in the sittin’ chair. Me’s purretty sure me heard mommy snorin’ a time or two befur joltin’ herself awake. Mommy keeps sayin’ she’s gettin’ to old fur these all nighters, and me totally agrees. Me’s way to old to be stayin’ up that many hours a day. Doesn’t she know us kitties need our beauty naps? Hmmmpht Me must’ve looked like somethin’ an old tabby cat would’a drug in after the second night, and me wouldn’t even wanna know what me must’ve looked like after the third.

Yeah sissy, I’s not a big fan of the all nighters. I’s need mine’s mommy and me cuddle time in the bed on the nice soft sweet smellin’ sheets. But, it seems the denture man at the new dentist office only comes once a week fur a couple of hours in the meownin’, so mommy has to be there really early so he can take the impressions back to the City with him. And since summer furinally arrived, mommy tries to do things either early in the day or late, so we’re not outside durin’ the hottest pawrt of the day. We’re so very fanky fankful to have air conditionin’ in the car, but mommy says nuffin’ works all that great in triple digit heat and she doesn’t want us to get sick and over heated.

Me’s a real mess. Me needs a good bath and a year of naps.

Yep Raena, we’re so Blest to have a mommy that cares ‘bout our well bein’ so much. Me’s so happy to have her as a mommy.

Really sissy? Cuz that’s not what you were meowin’ Furiday when mommy harnessed you up and strapped you into the stroller.

Me doesn’t wanna go to the V-E-T mommy.

Well Raena, me doesn’t ‘member you bein’ too happy ‘bout goin’ to the V-E-T the other day either. Me’s on to mommy’s tricks. She may call it a mommy and me day out, but when she’s all sneaky ‘bout the leavin’ time, me knows it can only mean one thing…Doctor Grabby and Stabby. Fankfully, me only got one jab and mommy says so long as me stays healthy, it’ll be the last stab fur 3 years. Seems Doctor Grabby and Stabby has furinally agreed to give us the 3 year rabies vaccination ‘stead of the one year.

Uh, Us, sissy? Wha’ch’a meowin’ ‘bout, us? I’s didn’t get jabbed with anythin’ on mine’s trip.

Maybe me can make me’s escape befur anypawdy sees me.

Just you wait Raena, your time’s a’comin’. Anyways, Doctor Grabby and Stabby said me was healthy and looked good. ‘Course, that made mommy really happy. So happy in fact, we stopped by the pet store fur some goodies. Mommy was gonna buy us 1 bag of those cheap treats (Kittles) we’ve eaten in the past, but they were on clearance fur .70¢, so she bought every bag they had.

Really sissy? Every bag? What do you wanna bet that we won’t eat any of ‘em? That’s the kitty way, right? Kitty likes somethin’, human goes nuts and buys out the store and kitty won’t touch it again. That’s one of the furst lessons you taught me.

C’mon mommy, me feels great. Let’s get outta here befur

Yeah Raena, that’s the rule. But, me thinks we oughtta at least eat a few bites to show our gratitude fur mommy at least tryin’. That’s another thing we kitties do. You know, gotta keep mommy on her toes and all.

Okay sissy, that sounds like a great plan. Ya’ know, we need to say a meowsy big Fanky fank you to awnty Susan fur the green papers. Havin’ so many ‘pointments out of town last week they came in really handy when mommy had to buy gas to get the car down the road. Hey, meowin’ of fanky fanks, I’s saw our furiend Valentine the handsum black Persian from Noir Kitty Mews, nominated us fur an award today.

Me saw it too Raena. He nominated us fur the SupawStars Spotlight Award. We’re so honored, fank you Valentine. We’re s’posed to nominate 5 bloggies to receive this award.

Only 5 sissy? Kittens!!! That’s so hard, we think all our furiends are SupawStars. Ya’ know, we don’t know fur sure who purrticipates in these kinds of things, so ifin we nominate you, you’re not obligated in any way to post; we’d just like to let others know ‘bout how special you are. Mine’s furst nomination is:

1. Awnty Paulette from The Persecution of Mildred Dunlap. She’s a great writer who uses the proceeds from her book sales to help rescue doggies.

2. Feline Opines is mine’s second nomination. They’re a great bunch of kittes who recently wrote their own book, a devotional from a kitty’s point of view. Once things settle down a bit ‘round here, we’ll be havin’ ‘em over fur a play date to discuss said book. In the meantime, head over and check ‘em out.
