Blest Sunday: Friends Are A Blessing

Dezi: MeOW C’mon Raena, it’s time fur Blest Sunday and we’ve gotta get to it while mommy’s able to type fur us. Ya’ know, things would be so much easier ifin we had thumbs to type fur ourselves.

Raena: Or an app that could translate kitty meows to human speak. Wouldn’t that be pawsum sissy? As it turns out, the new smarty pants fone doesn’t unnerstand meow speak after all.

That would be purretty cool Raena, but humans have enuff trouble unnerstandin’ us kitties, can you ‘magine the misunnerstandings a catputer purrogram would make? (Dezi shakes head)

Only ifin humans created it, sissy. Maybe we could create the app. We’d be famous. We’d be rich. We’d be…

We’d be somethin’ Raena, that’s fur sure. Anyways, we’ll just have to hope that mommy can adjust and keep helpin’ us.

Yeah sissy, I’s just don’t unnerstand how a group of peeps that don’t even know mommy or her medical history can make laws that tell her doctor how much medicine she can take. Mommy said they were gonna cut her dose again soon. She’s already started fallin’ more and passin’ out more and I’s swear, we’re gonna wear our paws out with all the migraines she’s been gettin’. I’s lost count of how many massages we’ve given her over the last couple of days.

Me feels ya’ Raena. But, we are so Blest to have such a pawsum mommy. Ifin she needs a hunnerd massages a day, me will gladly help her. Me’s just happy that the doctor or his staff wasn’t mean to mommy. She had no idea what to x’pect when she went in fur her regular monthly ‘pointment Furiday. After all, the last time she was there, that office lady was yellin’ at mommy and throwin’ papers at her.

Yeah sissy, I’s was glad ‘bout that too. That lady basically just ignored mommy and purrtended she didn’t see her. Anyways, enuff ‘bout that. Did you see the woofy that moved in next door?

Is that what that was on our porch the other day?

Yeah sissy,, the grandkid was s’posed to be walkin’ it and stead of takin’ him/her on the grass ‘round back, they were all over our porch and garden. Mommy said she better not open the door to find any surprises. We just don’t unnerstand why peeps don’t clean up after their woofies.

Yeah Raena, me thinks woofies could take a few lessons from us kitties on how to train their humans. Us cats have that one down. Hey did you hear that today is National Friendship Day? We’re so Blest to have so many amazin’ furiends.

We sure are sissy. Can sissy’s be furiends too? I’s think I’s Blest to have you fur a furiend and mine’s sissy.

(Sarcastically) Yeah, yeah, whatever Raena. Me’s Blest too.

Really sissy? Do you mean it?

Yeah Raena, me means it. (Dezi thinks about all the possibilities and then mumbles quietly) Guess me could’a ended up with much worse. (Dezi clears her throat) Anyways, meowin’ of furiends, there are so many who aren’t feelin’ tip top lately. We just hate it when our furiends are feelin’ yucky. We’ve been sendin’ up lots of extra purrayers fur all.

Sure ‘nuff sissy. Ya’ know, we’ve got a big week ahead of us, we better get to crackin’.

Me’s comin’ Raena. But, me’s not doin’ all the cleanin’ me’s self. You’re gonna be helpin’ too, right?

Of course I’s gonna help sissy. I’s gonna snoopervise. That’s what alpha kitties do.

We’re not a pride of a hunnerd Raena. You’re gonna do lots more than snoopervise or me’s gonna tell mommy. More than half this mess is yours. You’re the one who uses the piddle pads as skateboards not me.

Yep sissy, and you have no idea what fun you’re missin’. Trust me, try it just once. I’s bet you’ll luvs it. You can go from one end of the hall to the other in no time…watch me. (Raena runs and jumps on the piddle pad in the hallway and slides down the hall) Wheeeeeeeee!!! See sissy? It’s sooooooo much fun!!!

Sure Raena. Me’s not sure mommy would agree. Anyways, let’s get off here and finish brekky so me can have a beauty nap. As we do each Blest sunday, we’d like to remind everypawdy to take a minute today and every day to give Thanks fur the Blessings in your lives. Fank you all fur bein’ a pawrt of ours.

Raena: Hey everypawdy, it’s me, RaenaBelle. How are ya’ll doin’? ‘Member a while back when we were tryin’ to sign mommy up to marry a total stranger?

Dezi: Wait a minute RaenaBelle, don’t lump me into that. That was all you. Me had nuffin’ to do with that. You’re the one that watches all the teevee ‘round here.

Raena: Sure sissy, whatever you meow. (Raena meows under her breath) I’s seem to ‘member you were all fur gettin’ us a daddy at the time too. Anyways, the new season just started and OMC the day after the weddin’, one of those peeps was arrested. Sure nuff, there they were at the airpurrt fixin’ to go away on their honeymoon, when the pawlice showed up and whisked one of ‘em away. Looks like we dodged a bullet so to meow.

You’re right ‘bout that Raena. Altho’, to be fair, we don’t yet know the whole story. Now don’t get me wrong, we’re all ‘bout criminals bein’ punished fur their crimes, but teevee always makes things look worse than they are. Still, me’s glad we didn’t get mommy involved in all that. Like we don’t have enuff purroblems already. Hmmmpht

I’s seem to ‘member the only reason we didn’t get mommy signed up was cuz she’s too old, sissy. I’s think mommy still has a lot of good years left in her, but ‘pawrently anypawdy over 30 shouldn’t x’pect to find their special somepawdy.

RaenaBelle, you’re meowin’ ‘bout mommy like she’s a racehorse or somethin’. She’s got a lot of good years left in her (Dezi shakes her head)…Where did you even come up with that? Another teevee show no doubt.

Well sissy, ifin mommy was a racehorse, she wouldn’t be just some filly, she’d be a thoroughbred fur sure.

Me agrees Raena. Me’s just not sure mommy would ‘purreciate bein’ refurred to as a horse.

Well at least me isn’t callin’ her a pig or somethin’. Anyways, enuff ‘bout all that. Can you believe how fast this year has flown by? I’s was thinkin’ we should have a pawrty or somethin’. You know, a just cuz celebration. We could invite all our furiends and pawrty the night away.

That does sound like fun Raena, but, me’s not sure now is the right time fur a pawrty. Why don’t we start with somethin’ small, like a play date? A while back we meowed that once things settled down a bit ‘round here we’d have our furiends from Feline Opines over to meow ‘bout their book. Me’s thinkin’ we should plan that fur next month.

Oh sissy, that sounds like a great idea. I’s can’t hardly wait. I’s gonna go call Alberto right now.

You do that Raena. Me’s just gonna take a short nap.

Okay sissy, you rest up cuz we’re gonna have loads of fun when our furiends get here. Maybe we can go fur a stroll, and play with the jitter bug, and zoom thru the ‘pawrtment, and…(Raena looks out the door while meowing about all the fun things to do when the friends come over, while Dezi dreams about the rest she’ll get when Raena has someone else to chase and play with.)

Blest Sunday: Blessings Floor To Ceiling And Beyond

Dezi: MeOW HiSsssssssss RaenaBelle!!! Quit jumpin’ on me!!!

Raena: I’s didn’t jump on you sissy, I’s jumped over you. I’s was in a hurry to get to the purrch. I’s thought I’s saw somethin’ outside.

Dezi: Ya’ still need to stop. How many times has mommy told you to slow down Raena? Besides, it’s Blest Sunday and was time fur brekky. What ifin mommy had a been tryin’ to bring us our plates at that very minute? Y, All our food would’a ended up on the floor. We’re not heathens, we don’t eat off the floor.

Meow fur yourself sissy, sometimes I’s find all kinds of yummy things on the floor. Y, Just the other day mommy dropped a piece of cheese in the kitchen when she was makin’ her smashed tater with cheese. Ifin I’s hadn’t grabbed it up when I’s did, she would’a throwed it in the trash. What a waste that would’a been. I’s luvs me some cheese. Ya’ know our china platters are fine, but I’s not gonna miss an oppurr-tunity to eat me somethin’ tasty just cuz it’s not served with silver and gold trimmins. See, sometimes you can find Blessings on the floor. Just be careful it’s food and not a bug.

(Dezi shakes her head) Oh Raena, sometimes me just doesn’t know what to do with you.

Oh sissy, just luvs me. You know you were just like me once. Mommy says so. She says when you were young you couldn’t wait fur her to open the door in the meownin’ and put the purrch in front of it. She says you used to sit on it fur hours and chirp and chortle at anythin’ that came by.

Yeah Raena, me did. It seems so long ago now. It also seems like there was more to see back then. We used to have stray kitties and all kinds of wildlife play on our porch. It’s gotten so hot, ain’t nuffin’ outside doin’ much of anythin’. Y, just last night it was still 104°F at 9:30 p.m.. That’s just too hot.

Yep sissy, it is. You’d think the old bobcat and the coon family would be knockin’ on our door askin’ fur food. It’s gotta be too hot to hunt.

Me’s been wonderin’ where they were Raena. We haven’t seen either of ‘em all season. Maybe when it starts coolin’ off in a couple of months they’ll show up. Fankfully, we furinally got a new lease signed. Our rent went up $30.00, so mommy may have to put her dentures on hold fur a bit. It takes quite a bit of gas to get there every week and she’s been drivin’ on fumes the last couple times. With more money we don’t have goin’ to rent and nowhere to take green papers from, that drive is purretty much the only thing left to cut.

Well sissy, I’s guess that’ll give her more time to try to fix the mess the manager made and figger out what they can and can’t do befur it all starts again. Ya’ know the manager told mommy that they’re gonna be “rehabing” these ‘pawrtments soon and that they’re gonna wanna do a move out and then move us back in and start all this again in just a few months. Mommy told ‘em they couldn’t do that cuz she has a years lease, and utilities that be in her name that she has to pay each month. While she might not have had to put down a depawsit, those companies charge to turn it on and move it and stuffs. Not to mention the stress mommy’s just went thru. We fur sure can’t be doin’ this again that soon. We all need time to recupurrate.

Yeah Raena, the way they treat us just ain’t right. It’s not like we’re poor and need help by choice. And mommy certainly ain’t disabled by choice. Ifin mommy could change our situation, she would in a heartbeat. Our mommy ain’t afraid of work. Y, Befur her accident, she worked 2 and 3 jobs at a time to make sure she could affurd everythin’ she needed and wanted.

I’s heard sissy. She says she was young and dumb back then and didn’t save, so that’s why we’re in the shape we’re in now. Altho’ I’s know mommy wishes she could do more and could give us more, and had more money, I’s glad things happened the way they did. Y, ifin they hadn’t who knows where you and me would be? We might not have ever been saved?. I’s don’t even wanna think ‘bout what it would have been like ifin mommy hadn’t showed up and whisked me away to this Blest life.

Me neither, Raena, me neither. We might not be rich by the standards the world uses, but when it comes to luv, we’re bazillionaires.

You got that right sissy. We’ve got the bestest mommy ever, altho’ we know all of you think you’ve got the bestest pawrent, and that’s okay. And meowin’ of all of ya’, we can’t ‘magine a life without you.

We wouldn’t want to Raena. We have the bestest furiends in the whole universe. God smiled on us the day we met you, our dear furiends, and we ask Him each and every day to keep and Bless you and your families. Blest Sunday: Furever Thankful

Dezi: MeOW C’mon Raena, it’s time fur Blest Sunday. You can finish eatin’ brekky in a minute.

Raena: You meow that sissy, but the minute I’s walk away, you’ll be movin’ in on mine’s plate and tryin’ to chow it down. Besides with the mess we’ve got goin’ on ‘round here, I’s wasn’t sure we had any Blessings to count this week.

RaenaBelle!!! Bite your tongue!!! Besides, me never steals your food…(Dezi mumbles slyly.) Least not while mommy’s lookin’.

No, sissy!!! That would hurt. And, you do it all the time. Mommy’s always tellin’ you to get outta mine’s plate.

(Dezi shakes her head) Purrlease Raena, it’s just a figger of speech. We have purrlenty of Blessings to count, no matter what’s goin’ on ‘round here. We have the bestest most pawsumest furiends in the universe. And, we have a mommy that luvs us more than anythin’ else in the afur mentioned universe. We’ve found our furevers Raena. No matter what, mommy will never ever leave us or throw us away. Mommy says that altho’ it’s been a while, this wouldn’t be the furst time she’s had to live in her car and Shad never left her side or went hungry. Ifin you’d like to read that story you can do so here. Besides, mommy says we’re not out on the streets just yet.

You’re right sissy. I’s luvs our furiends. And I’s luvs mommy soooooo much. I’s never doubted that she’d be there fur us no matter what. And, her new dentists’ ‘pointments are movin’ along nicely. This week she’ll be tryin’ out a wax form with teethies in it. And, the doctor’s been the one doin’ the work. There’s always an assistant in the room, but Dr. Collier’s seen mommy and made all the impurrsions and adjustments at each ‘pointment. Y, She’s so x’perienced at dentures, one of the other doctors even came and asked her advice last week. It made mommy feel really good and like she’s furinally in good hands.

Yep Raena, me’s so happy ‘bout that. Mommy said Dr. Collier’s really nice and she even believes in rescue. She has two rescued woofies and the rest of her furmily has woofies and kitties that they’ve rescued too. We think it was her sisfur that adopted a stray kitty what came to her house lookin’ fur food and shelter. We always get x’cited when we hear stories ‘bout some kitty or woofy findin’ their purrfect furever.

So true sissy, so true. Ya’ know, we might not always get along like peas in a pod, but I’s wouldn’t want any other sisfur or mommy. I’s thinkin’ mine’s life is purretty close to purrfect. So, that means you’re right ‘bout the Blessings too. I’s got purrlenty to give fanky fanks fur. I’s got so much luvs that sometimes mine’s heart feels like it could explode. And, I’s got a full belleh with some of the tastiest noms on the planet.

Hmmmmm Really Raena? So does that mean you’re thru with your brekky?

Nope sissy, that doesn’t mean you can eat outta mine’s plate. I’s might wanna go back fur another bite in a minute. You know I’s have to check out what’s goin’ on outside. Ifin I’s just stayed with mine’s head down in mine’s plate, I’s might miss somethin’. Y, I’s saw all kinds of things this meownin’. I’s saw a few birdies, a gnat, a moth…(While Raena rambles on, Dezi sneaks over to her breakfast plate and eats a few bites. Raena looks back from the perch at the door to see Dezi eating the last few bites of her breakfast…) Sissy!!! Get outta mine’s plate or I’s gonna tell mommy.

What? You meowed your belly was full?. Anyways, let’s wrap this up and give mommy some extra luvvin’. Me knows she could sure use some.
