Is It Time tu go tu da V-E-T

OMC Meez wus so supwised by how many of yous hav VETs dat yous like.  Meez wus so glad tu heaw dat.  But meez wusn’t supwised at all by how many of yous not so cwazy ’bout da twip der and back home.  A lot of yous sed dat yous spend da whole twip singin’ da song of ow ancestows.  MOL   One of da fiwst questions wees get asked, even afuw ‘what’s a Service Cat?’ is….. How du yous get da cats tu wide so well in da caw??  And den wees get wesponses like: meez cats wuld teaw us all up, or meez cats meow at da top of der lungs da whole time, and so many mowe.  Mommy tells dem dat yous can’t keep a cat locked away in da house all yeaw long and den pull out da cawwiew 1 time a yeaw and ‘spect evewfin’ tu go smoovly.  Cuz at dat point deys associate da cawwiew wiff  bad fings, and also da VET.  Weally, ifin da only time yous evew get out is when sum stwangew pokes sumfin up yous neddew wegions and sticks yous a foo times and pwys yous mouff open and digs wound in yous eaws and den pushes yous back intu a little box wiff baws dat yous can barely stand up in wuld yous be ‘cited tu go??  Or wuld yous maybe be hidin’ and singin’ da song of yous people tu??    

So da fiwst step in makin’ da twip tu da VET mowe pawsitive and less stwessful fuw evewpawdy is tu make it fun and pawt of da woutine.  Now as any of yous dat wead meez blog knows wees don’t hav much in da munny depawtment so meez not tellin’ yous tu go tu da VET all da time and spend munny.  But let meez say dis, deys don’t chawge yous nuffin’ tu go inside and sit down in da waitin’ woom fuw a bit.  Now sum of yous gunna say, “but meez VET is tu faw away.”   And meez unnewstands dat, ows is 45 minutes away so is not always pwactical.  But ders lots of places yous can go.  One of da fiwst fings mommy dus tu twain any animal is tu get dem used tu da caw and twavelin’.  Dat means dat da cawwiew or stwollew (whatevew yous use fuw twanspowt stays out and cozy like so dat yous little fuwball can get used tu it and leawn dat it’s a good fing. When fluffy goes in and welaxes fuw a nap or a play, giv dem a tweat and pwaise dem.  See whewe meez goin’??  Good fings hapun in da bawwed box besides bein’ manhandled and shuvved inside.

Once fluffy is likin’ da cawwiew close dem in fuw vewy showt pewiods of time and take dem out da doow tu da caw.  Don’t go anywhewe yet and be suwe tu giv dem tweats and welease dem when yous come back in da house.  Now dat fluffy’s good wiff da cawwiew and goin’ tu da caw, stawt da caw and pull out and den back in and intu da house and welease fluffy.   Don’t fuwget da tweats and pwaise. 🙂   Now yous weady fuw a twip wound da block.  Not tu faw, just nuff so dat fluffy knows yous ain’t in kansas   da dwiveway and home anymowe.  MOL   Ifin fluffy stawts singin’, yous stawt singin’.  Mommys favowit songs tu sing tu us awe, ‘You are so Beautiful’ and ‘You are my Sunshine’.  And den ders da made up ones.  Mommy can be vewy clevew, and of couwse wees luv hers fuw it.  

Now dat yous goin’ wound da block and fings awe good, go fawddew and pick dat place whewe yous gunna  stop and go in.  Membew du dis mowe den once!!!  And go tu lots of diffewent places.  Da pet stowe, a dwive fwu, anywhewe will wowk.  Yous want tu get fluffy used tu goin’ in da caw and havvin’ good fings hapun.   Ifin yous VET is faiwly close purrlease go der a foo times. (Da smells and sounds awe impurrtant, so even ifin yous VET isn’t close at sum point yous need tu go der.  Also any VETs office will wowk.  Membew, ders no chawge fuw sittin’).  At sum point yous wanna make an appointment  wiff yous VET and take sum of fluffys favowit tweats fuw da VET and techs tu giv tu hims. (or just call and talk tu yous VET most awe happy tu help out at no chawge)  No pokin’, no pwoddin’, no exam.  Just pettin’ and tweats.  it usually only takes a foo minutes fuw dis pawt and dat’s why lots of  VETs will du it fuw a small fee or fuw no chawge.  Aftew all, yous supplyin’ evewfin’ and all yous need is a foo minutes of der time.  Dr. C did it fuw us afuw hims left fuw da day.  

Most VETs don’t take appointments wight up tu closin’ so deys hav a foo minutes fuw dis kind of fing.  And sum  make meet and gweet appointments fuw new clients and yous can ‘splain what yous duin’ and deys will schedule yous intu one of those slots.  In da end, yous shuld hav much mowe peaceful and less stwessful dwives tu da VET.  And maybe yous will wanna take kitty mowe places.  And den nex yeaw fluffy will be askin’ yous,  “Is it time tu go tu da VET?? ”     Fluffy is nevew tu old or tu yumg tu leawn tu enjoy widin’ in da caw.

Did Sumpawdy say V-E-T???

Well now isn’t dat innewestin’.  Mommy sez hers got an email ’bout yeawly check ups and wuldn’t yous know it, it’s time fuw ows.(yous can click on da link fuw infuwmation and questions tu ask yous VET)  Dis hewe email wanted meez tu talk  tu ya’ll ’bout da impurrtance of yeawly check ups and purrventativ medicine.  And while sum of yous may spit, hiss, gwowl, hide, fight, bite, bawk, snowt, skweel, and whatevew els when is time tu go tu da V-E-T, meez tweats it like any uddew adventuwe.   Meez knows, sum of yous feel meez betwayed yous, but weally it can be a good fing.  Now da email didn’t say zackly what meez wus ‘posed tu talk ’bout,  so dis is gunna be meez take on yeawly check ups.  And fuw all meez furiends dats not kittys, meez not leavin’ yous out, but fuw da sake of time and space yous can substitute yous species in da spots whewe meez puts kitty/cat.  

Fiwst let meez say dat when yous bwing a new kitty/cat intu yous home, ‘specially ifin yous alweady hav a kitty/cat (s) at home da fiwst place yous shuld take dem is tu da VET.  Yous wanna purrtect evewpawdy and make suwe evewpawdy’s healffy.  Find a VET yous like and dat kitty likes.  Hopefully dey will be one in da same, and da office staff and techs will be good tu.  Is good ifin yous can, tu make an appointment tu get tu know da VET and maybe touw his/her office afuw yous der on sum kind of emewgency.  And speakin’ ’bout  emewgencies, be suwe tu find out what da emewgency pawlicy is.  Ifin yous wanna see yous VET in those times and him/hers don’t take calls aftew houws den yous need tu find anuddew VET or get tu know da emewgency clinic.  Der awe lots of uddew fings tu considew when choosin’ da wight VET like du yous want a holistic appwoach, cat only (ifin ders any in yous awea),  a full sewvice hospital, etc. but meez finks da most impawtant fing is: dus yous kitty like dem and dus da VET enjoy der job and like yous kitty.

So, VET chosen, is time tu talk ’bout what kitty needs.  Yous VET is a powewful and knowledgeable wesouwce, use dem;  dat’s why deys der.  Yous VET will hav opinions ’bout what vaccinations would be best fuw yous kitty based on what yous tell him/her ’bout  kittys lifestyle.  An indoow only kitty isn’t gunna be in as gweat a wisk as an outdoow kitty.   So da indoow kitty may not need cewtain vaccinations.  But yous and da #VET can discuss dis and make da wight decision fuw yous companion.  And membew, yous hav a say so and an opinion.  Ifin yous don’t know/unnewstand why yous VET is weccomendin’ sumfin’, ASK!!  Now wees liv in one of da many States dat wequiwes da Rabies vaccination and it must be given by a licensed VET.  Check wiff yous VET and da CDC tu see ifin yous State is on da list.  Mommy finks one of da mostest impawtant questions is what kind of vaccinations awe bein’ givin’; live, modified, live, etc..  

Uddew den vaccinations da yeawly check up is a time fuw yous VET tu giv yous kitty a good once ovew.  Dis check kuld help tu catch diseases, illnesses or uddew issues eawly on.  And evewpawdy knows dat when yous catch sumfin’ eawly yous stand a bettew chance of  a cuwe or at least longew good quality of life.  Purrventativ tests and tweatments can sumtimes be da gweatest gift yous can giv tu yous kitty.  And ifin yous don’t unnewstand sumfin, ASK!!!  Yous VET (ifin yous chose well) will be happy tu ‘splain fings tu yous and help yous unnewstand.  Yous VET will be glad tu hav yous pawticipation in da well bein’ of yous kitty.  And dey will be able tu go ovew options wiff yous and help yous decide on da bestest couwse of tweatment fuw yous and yous kitty.  

Offen yous VET offews uddew sewvices as well.  Don’t fuwget ’bout da flea tweatments and heawtworm tweatments, all pawt of purrventative medicine.  It’s much easiew tu purrvent a disease den tu cuwe it.  It’s also less stwessful on kitty.    And maybe yous VET offews fings like gwoomin’ or deys hav twainin’ classes, or low cost sewvices.  Welly, get tu know yous VET and makke yous yeawly check up a fun adventuwe and not da “dweaded visit”.  Tumowwo, meez gunna giv yous sum tips on how tu make these visits mowe fun and less stwessful fuw evewpawdy.  Meez suwe hopes you enjoy meez  educational postys.    Til da nex time…Hav a pawsum Day!!! 🙂

A “Nowmal” Day…Ow Evenin’

Well so wees made it fwu da meownin’ and evewpawdy’s still wound. MOL   So meez left off wiff us checkin’ in on ow online furiends and fuwmily.  Did yous know dat yous ow furmily??   Hmmmm….maybe dat’s why meez can’t get a tommy beau.  

Anyways, meez gettin’ way off twack.  so aftew bwekky wees get online and Lexi and meez usually cwawl up in mommys lap so hers can wead us da comments and postys and wees can see all yous fotos.  Usually a bit in mommy has tu get up and get a fwesh dwink (mommys favowit is coke), and while hers up shes stawts tu get dizzy.  Den meez stawts tu alewt dat hers gunna pass out.  Dis is sumfin dat hapuns sevewal times fwu out da day.  So mommy makes hers way tu sit down and eevew passes out or it passes. 🙂  And den wees get on wiff whatevew wees wus duin’ afuw wees wus innewwupted.  

Sumtime in da aftewnoon da mail lady wuns and ifin wees “lucky” (mommys wowds not meez) den ow neighbow mr. W comes wheelin’ up da walk tu get da keys and check ow mail.  Well let meez ‘splain, Lexi and meez don’t like mr. W.  Hims wude and gwuff and genewally not so nice. And hims kuld use a good baff.  So ’bout now mr. W comes wheelin’ up da walk and meez wuns tu da doow and stawts hissin’.  Mommy heads fuw da doow and Lexi twies tu block mommys paff.  Wees fink wees need tu purrtect hers. MOL  Aftew da mail is in mommy goes tu wash up da bwekky dishes and Lexi and meez get ow aftewnoon tweats. 😀  Den Lexi goes tu lay down fuw an aftewnoon nap and meez and mommy go back tu da sittin’ chaiw fuw sum luvvin and mowe online visitin’ or playin’.  

 

‘Bout 6:50 p.m. Lexi comes and sits in da floow wight in fwunt of mommy and just stawes at hers.  And meez stawts jumpin’ intu and out of mommys lap.  Wees weady fuw dinnew.  And wees don’t let up til mommy gets up tu make it.  As meez sed yesfuwdayy, wees don’t cawe when bwekky is, but wees want dinnew at 7 o’clock on da dot in da summew.  And wees get a bit testy ifin wees don’t get it. MOL  Da only exception is ifin mommy’s gone sumwhewe.  (Dusn’t hapun offen, so wees let hers off da hook).  Dinnew noms fixed, mommy puts ow plates down and tells us shes luvs us, givs us a kiss and tells Lexi tu eat slowly.  And den hers makes a cup of coffee and sits in da sittin’ chaiw.  Oooops, fwesh hot cup of coffee, meez must need sumfin’. MOL  So just when mommy takes hers fiwst sip, meez stawts hollewin’ fwum da pawdee box woom.  And yep, yous guessed it, mommy comes and checks and cleans da pawdee box.  Afuw hers gets finished, meez alweady back up fwunt eatin’ meez dinnew.  Mommy gets back up fwunt and has tu make anuddew cup of coffee.  Coffee made, mommy goes tu sit down again, and der meez is wantin’ luv and swooshin’ meez fluffy tail intu hers fwesh cup of coffee. MOL  Awe yous seein’ a pattewn??  Just like bwekky only is dinnew. 🙂  

 

Aftew dinnew, Lexi and meez cwawl back intu mommys lap so wees can make ow nitely facebook posty and du sum mowe visitin’ onlin.  When is finally time fuw bed, mommy picks us boff up and cawwies us tu bed and den cwawls in wound us.  Den wees purray fuw all ow furiends and mommy purrays fuw us and den wees massage mommy til wees all dwifts off tu sleep so dat wees can du it all ovew again da nex day. 🙂

A “Normal” Day in da Life…

Well meez fawt dat meez wuld take yous fwu a “nowmal” day in ow house.  It all stawts when mommy wakes up in da meownin.  Wees don’t hav a set time tu get up as wees don’t go tu bed at any pawtiulaw time.  So anyways when mommy wakes up hers gently sez ow names, “Lexi.  Dezi. Mornin’ angels.”  And wees stwetch a little and den stawt massagin’ hers legs and awms.  And den one of us bwings da chaiw tu da side of da bed and den wees bof get behind mommy and stawwt pushin’ hers tu da chaiw.  By dis time hers awms awe wowkin’ nuff tu help pull hers selff ovew and wight side up in da chaiw.  Den Lexi and meez jump ovew ontu mommys lap and ‘pendin’ on hoo is by da joystick as tu hoo dwives us tu da pawdee box woom.  On a “nowmal” day da fone wuldn’t wing, da doowbell wuldn’t chime, and der wuld be no distwactions, as wees dwive tu da pawdee box woom.  Once der, wees all avail owselves of da facilities. (like meez big wowds?. mol)  Anyways, once wees take cawe of business den we’s off tu da kitchen tu get sum bwekky.

Mommy puts each of ow plates down and givs us boff a kiss and tells us shes luvs us and tells Lexi tu eat slowly (ifin shes dusn’t shes fwos up hers bwekky and den wants mowe) and den mommy makes hers a cup of coffee.  Lexi stawts tu eat but meez waits fuw mommy tu settle in.  Coffee weady mommy sits in da sittin’ chaiw and pawks da wheelchaiw.  And den meez eats a foo bites and den goes tu mommy tu get sum luvvin’.  And den tu hav a look out da fwunt doow and den back tu eat a foo mowe bites.  Meez wepeats dis ’nuff times so dat mommys coffee is usually cold afuw hers gets a chance tu dwink it. MOL  And so hers gets anuddew cup and wees stawt all ovew.  Dis time meez has gone back tu da pawdee box and is hollewin’ fuw hers tu clean it wight now.  And fankfully by dis time hers can finally walk a bit.  So hers cleans da pawdee box and back tu dwink hers now wawm coffee.  But meez has uddew plans.

As soon as hers sits down meez is jumpin’ in hers lap fuw sum luvvin’ and Lexi comes up fuw hers malty (haiwball tweatment).  Mommy kisses meez and meez is off tu eat a foo mowe bites and den look out da doow sum mowe and Lexi gets hers malty, and now mommys second cup of coffee is ice cold and undwunk. 🙂  Oh hers had a foo sips, but not much.  So mommys back in da kitchen fixin anuddew cup of coffee and Lexi is back on da table askin’ fuw mowe noms.  Of couwse mommy tells hers no, cuz hers alweady had hers moisty noms and sum dwy noms and malty, and wees gunna get tweats in a bit.  Anuddew cup of coffee made, mommy is back in da sittin’ chaiw.  Just as soon as hers sits down meez stawts meweekin’ cuz Lexi has gone tu da pawdee box while mommy wus gettin’ hers coffee.  Mommy  gets up and cleans da pawdee box again, and den hers goes back tu hav hers coffee.  

 

By dis time mommys voice is a little shaky and hers eyes glisten like deys wet, and hers sits down and sez, “Angels, purrlease let me just drink this one cup of coffee. Okay??  Lexi, honey stay outta your sisfurs plate and Dezi darlin’ purrlease just eat your brekky.”  Lexi lays down and meez goes tu eat and mommy has hers coffee.  Now meez not sayin’ dat it’s completely uneventful, but mommy stands purretty fiwm by now and hers dusn’t jump evewtime meez skweeks or Lexi meows.  Bwekky finally ovew, we’s ontu da ‘putew tu check in wiff all of yous.  So faw dis is a “nowmal” meownin/day in ow lives.
