Well me suwe hopes you all had a gweat weekend. After this short update da west of meez posty will be hooman speak as we awe gunna do one of those impurrtant educational postys. We had a vewy fwuitful (as mommy calls it) weekend. Mommy got a lot mowe unpacked but still has a way to go. Da movers put stuff fwum all ovew da house in evewy box so mommy spends a lot of time walkin’ back and forff dat kuld be spent unpackin’. So hers still not fwu, but hopes to be by da time da fwidge gets here on Wednesday. Now dat wuz a little update ‘bout what be goin’ on and now meez gunna move on to meez post topic.
It is October, which of course you all know, and that means halloween. As you all know black cats have a bad reputaion. Even more so than perhaps the pit bull. Black cats have been called evil, bad luck and witches familiars among others. And even in this day and time there are still people who believe this nonsense. Black cats are the least adoptable cat in shelters. there are rescues who refuse to take them in because they know the likelihood of a quick adoption is very low. Although a black cat with any other color at all doesn’t have the same stigma. For instance the tuxedo pattern. A black cat with white markings. So why then is an all black cat thought to be so bad? The reality is that most black cats are extremely intelligent and loving. They make great pets. We are featurin’ a few here today that are up for adoption to real and lovin’ forever homes.

But it does get worse. Crimes are committed against black cats more often at this time of year. Torture and death are not uncommon. And all because black cats are thought to be mysterious and throwaways. But black cats aren’t the only ones. White cats are sought this time of year as they are seen as symbols of purity in animal sacrifices. Lots of shelters have implemented policies that ban adoptions of black and solid white cats during the halloween season. Thus making these abusers have to look elsewhere for their victims. And so they start combing neighborhoods for pets that are aloud outdoors or strays that have no home. Are you angry yet? Because we are.

Mommy says that when she looks at us she can’t imagine anyone wanting to hurt us or our kin. But those people do exist. Let me tell you, we feel, we have senses, we love and trust. And when we are abused we know it, WE FEEL IT, and WE ARE AFRAID!!! We don’t want to be hurt and we for sure don’t want to die a horrible death alone without love. PLEASE, any of you that allow your cats outside, PLEASE keep them inside. Especially during this time of year. As these people will take any cat or animal for that matter, not just black or white cats. If you have strays in your area please do what you can to help them. Maybe they could stay in your garage for the week surrounding halloween, or even call the local rescues or shelter. As bad as it sounds, a humane death is preferable to the torture we would face at the hands of these abusers.

We don’t like to write da sad posts and bad news posts, but sumtimes there’s just no escapin’ it. Sumtimes da news is bad or even sad. We know a lot of you love this time of year as we awe seein’ on yous blogs, but wemember to purrtect yous furbabies. Mommy sez abuse and animal cwuelty happens all da time, but is faw mowe purrevalent duwin’ this time of year. And da laws in da U.S. awe so minimal fur animal abuse and cwuelty dat it’s almost like there is no law. But you can all help. We need to continue to educate da public ‘bout da wunnewfulness of black cats. And dat they not be bad luck or evil or any udder bad fing. Underneaff all dat black fur awe veins dat bleed red and a heart dat beats da same as any udder. And a motow box dat just wants sumpawdy to purr fur and luv and call their vewy own.

This is a very impawtant message, Dezi, thank you for posting about it. It’s unbelievable that there are still people around us that harm little creatures like us. I have a sister who is black…and beautiful, she lives at my mom’s, but I mustn’t think about it that she fell into te wrong hands. Allthough we don’t celebrate Halloween as extensively as in your country, we are aware of this cruelty. Pawkisses for a Lovely Day 🙂 ❤

We have fireworks let off for the 5th of November when there was a gunpowder plot a squillion years ago against our government and it is still celebrated. Hannah and Lucy are not allowed outside in the dark at any time of year so they won’t miss going out although they will both sit close to or on my knee as they don’t like the fire crackers and whine of rockets. Unfortunately now there are fireworks for the New Year too.

We know all about this horrible stuff that goes on. My mum can’t believe the evil that exists in some humans and why they would want to harm animals. It makes her mad. That’s why she always protects me.

Yup, we have known about this travesty to kitties. Our shelters forbid adoptions of black kitties from mid September and well into November.
Also this stuff happens to other animals, such as goats and dogs.
Thanks fur the heads up so we all can stay safe.

I think I’ve told you before that one of the best cats I ever had was a big black male. He was just a big baby and we loved him dearly. He was a stray that decided that this was his home and that was that. I just have a hard time wrapping my mind around the idea that people want to hurt or kill those beautiful babies. One thing I have never heard about was the white cats. I didn’t know that they were in danger too. Thanks for letting us know that.

Excellent post. As you know, our Grizelda & Chloe Jo are black cat sisters. We raised them from birth. They will be four years old next month. They are total opposite in every way but colour.
We are blessed by them every day. ~xo~

Thanks fur calling attention to this PAWFUL purroblem! Black kats are just PURRecious- they don’t deserve this abuse- the human usually lets me out in the evening- but as it gets closer to Halloween she won’t let me out fur that reason- even though I pout!

Thank you Dezi and Mom for taking the time to write about this issue, it is true there are evil predators out there that would hurt precious animals around this time of year and its certainly something to be aware of, I don’t let Angel out of my sight EVER ! Its so sad that so many beautiful black cats have these problems, they are like panthers…I think the little kitty should be Panther or Minxy, he is very cute ! I didn’t know you have moved, maybe iv not been keeping up but guess what I just moved too so great minds think alike, we really hope you Mom and Dezi are settling in nicely…its best to get everything as unpacked as possible and then slowly organise, we are still organising now, we are very happy in our new home so we hope you are too !! 🙂 We luv ya too 🙂 Angel Atticus and Mum ❤

weez didn’t move. Ow pawtment wuz flooded 2 times in 1 mumff by a neighbowin’ pawtment. It took a lot of fightin’ and fwustwation, but management finally came fwu and did da wight fing and fixed ow pawtment. They also did sum wemodelin’ and put us in a motel fur a week. So altho’ weez didn’t move, it’s kinda like weez did. they hired movers to pack up ow house so they kuld paint and weplace da floors and all and so weez awe left to unpack. Mommy’s takin’ it nice and slow so as not to hurt hers selff too much. Hope y’all awe settlin’ in to yous new place.

Okay I do remember reading about some trouble with your place and that the landlord would hopefully sort it so its good news to hear its all been fixed now, and rightly so they put you up somewhere while fixing, i remember you said you had been living there for 14 years, its very stressful to go through these things so very happy its all settled for you Dezi and mummy..yes hope you are relaxing and the new floors and paint makes the place feel fresh and new ! Yes weez all duin’ better now. It took a long time and lots of fightin’ to get them to do da wight fing, but it did finally happen. Altho’ they weplaced a lot of fings dat didn’t need weplacin’, and did so wiff infewior purroducts. So wez had to fight wiff ’em to get them to do it wight, and weez still waitin’ on da fwidge. It’s posed to be here this week, and mommy’s twyin’ to get us all unpacked now. And sum of ow fings wuz wuined in da floods, and so there’s a fundraiser fur us cuz mommy be sittin’ on da floor as hers chair wuz one of da first fings dat fell apawt. Anyways, Glad yous all awe duin’ well.

I understand Dezi and Lexi my mum has had to battle to go get simple things done too, so sad landlords can sometimes be so cheap and mean to good loyal tenants…sorry about the fridge and chairs, we will say a special prayer for you that it all gets done and the fund raiser is a big success too !
