Hmmmmm We hear da word No stawts wiff an N, but since mommy rarely ifin ever tells us No, then maybe me better not talk ‘bout dat. So me fawt fur a long time and finally ‘cided to talk ‘bout Needs. You know fings peeps and anipals must have to survive. There be da obvious fings like food and water altho’ mommy sez dat hoomans can go wiffout faw longer than is fawt. But we hope nun of ow furiends evew have to find out how long. And then there’s da comfurts of a home wiff heat and air conditionin’. A bed and somewhere to sit. Altho’ mommy has lived in hers caw afur, she sez she be way to old fur dat kind of life anymowe. And then there be LOVE. We wish nopawdy/kitty evew had to go fwu life wiffout luv.

Lexi and me awe so blest to have such a wunnewful mommy and all of you. But there’s lots of animals in da world hoo have never known luv. And sum dat did and lost it, and found themselves in shelters or on da stweets all by themselves. We told you da udder day ‘bout ow towns city council making sum weally stupid statements ‘bout da law and how they like to solve da purrawlem of those unwanted kitty cats dat roam ow stweets, and how mommy wuz on a mission to set fings stwaight. You know those kitties didn’t choose to be outside scwimpin’ fur food and shelter. All they evew wanted wuz a home and luv. To survive tho they must hunt or search fur homes dat will meet their basic needs fur food and water and shelter. And now a community wants to take those fings fwum them as well.
Mommy finally spoke wiff one of da council members and hims admitted they didn’t know da laws and spoke outta turn and wuld be cowwectin’ dat. And then him went on to say dat anudder of da council members stated he had twapped one of sed cats and wuz fined $20,000.00 cuz it wuz feral. Just when mommy fawt she had heard evewyfin’. OMC Hoo comes up wiff this stuff. Anyways, mommy wesponded wiff, “that’s not a penalty nor is there any such law.” To which she got, “well we’ll have to do some research because we’re a small town and can’t afford a $20,000.00 fine.” Mommy proceeded to splain dat they kuld hoomanely twap those kitties and hoomanely twansport them to da nearest local shelter to be held fur adoption or hoomanely eufanized. And then you wanna hear what ‘scuses they made? They told mommy dat da shelter chawges them $25.00 fur each animal they turn in. Yep, dat’s mowe than a bullet, but guess what? Accordin’ to state law a bullet dusn’t qualify as hoomane euffanasia. Oh and dat killin’ must be dun by a twained and qualified purrfessional tech or Vet so as not to cause undue stwess on sed animal. So we conclude ow town NEEDs to gwo up and join this centuwy.
So da last fing weez gunna leave ya’ wiff today is this. Ifin yous feel da need to add a furry to yous household, purrlease ADOPT. Save a life and in turn save yous own. We all have needs and fur us da most purrtant one is luv.

We sure hope all your Mo’s brave and tireless efforts will get them to make the needed changes…or even better to make a no kill shelter in her town.
TNR programs are good too, though the kitties still have no purrsons to love them forevfur.

That breaks my heart that cats are killed with bullets- I wonder who the cruel person is that does this. I am glad you are trying to set these idiots straight. I can’t read the stray cat prayer or I will cry. I pray every day that they don’t suffer and will get to be loved.

We were both rescued by the RSPCA from a house with over 100 cats living there. Mum had just lost Emma who was 20 when she passed and went to see what cats they had and see if she could like one and she didn’t know about any of this until she got there. She chose us both and after we had been neutered and stabbed, she had to be vetted to see if she was suitable to have them – when she passed that she paid them and brought us both home.

Poor stray kitties. One of our local shelters (I won’t say which) has been turning away strays that are “too old.” I also know they want to keep their numbers down, but it is getting crazy, and it really upsets me because these cats will likely go to another shelter, and not necessarily a no-kill one – and they might end up being “humanely” euthanized. That’s in quotes because I don’t believe it’s humane to euthanize cats who are not suffering and can be placed in homes to have happy lives. steps off soapbox

Yep weez not fink a kitty shuld be euffanized just cuz evew, but we had to quote da law. And we hate dat yous shelte be turnin’ away da older kitties. Wiff sissy bein’ in da categowy these days we just can’t magine hers havin to spend hers golden years fendin’ fur herself.

It is so sad the number of homeless kitties and doggies that there are. We just hope lots of people go to the shelters to adopt animals. Nice post.

Adopting an unwanted pet from the shelter is the best “gift” there is……and your town council is truly WAY off base in many ways but bravo for your Mom in trying to educate them about the sad state of affairs there when it comes to handling animals. Very sad indeed.

Good post! What a crazy bunch your local council are!! I thought ours was bad enough!! Mum is going to an event Saturday that our local rescue is putting on to try and encourage folk to adopt kitties. I kinda like being an only kitty (well, except for Tigger!) so I hope she doesn’t get any ideas!! 😉 Pawpats xxx

Another good and needed post girls and Mommy. You can bet that if I ever get another furbaby it will be adopted if it doesn’t just show up on my doorstep like all my others have. Right now I have enough with my grandcat, Oscar. He’s my buddy and I am the one that takes care of him all the time since his daddy is working so much. He may be my buddy but he sure does love his daddy.
Sorry I have not been on as much lately. Seems like there are not enough hours in the day any more. I do try to read all your posts even if I don’t comment though. And I check your Facebook pages everyday.
